Iberostar Grand El Mirador – Adults Only

The hotel is more 4.5 star than 5 star whilst it has everything I felt it looked a little tired. The spa is disappointing in the basement and had a strange smell not the normal perfume of a spa or indeed of the reception area which smelt lovely. The spa came with a cost of 20 euros a day. The bathroom are all stone and feel a little like a cave personally felt they could do with an update the grout looked grubby, the water takes an age to warm up . The decor is done in the shabby chic style but still looked dated to me not keen on all the cream net. Our junior suite had no view just the back entrance and the air conditioning units which for the cost of the room was another disappointment. The reception staff where not very welcoming and chatted amongst themselves when we arrived dealing with us as quickly as possible. I agree with a recent review uninterested I felt not pampered. The breakfasts buffet was very good with a nice choice of food and the waiting staff very pleasant. I would not go back am sure some other 5 stars have a better approach to customer service. Again at check out the staff did not ask if we had enjoyed our stay and no one helped with luggage our driver had to take it. At other 5 stars the staff have waved us off and ensured we had water for the journey all these little touches make a different, Moet at breakfast does not make up for simple customer service.

After reading the wonderful reviews on Tripadvisor we were really looking forward to spending a week at this hotel. However the hotel and service we received fell well short of our expectations. We had an issue with our room keys not working for our first two nights. Initially the staff we asked for help were unapologetic and uninterested. Once we got management involved the issue was resolved with the keys and we were offered a room upgrade as compensation for the inconvenienced. We declined the upgrade and just wanted a hassle free stay. However my partner had an early 8am start for golf and we had no hot water in the room to have a shower at this time. He complained to reception who said they would look into the problem. No one got back to us and we had no hot water in the early mornings for the rest of our stay. Not what you expect from a five star hotel! The breakfast did have an extensive choice on offer but it was mostly buffet which was at best lukewarm. The toast machines were slow and inefficient and the experience was more like a all inclusive hotel. The Moët was a nice touch. When we checked out we were not asked if we had enjoyed our stay and we were not even offered help with our luggage! For the price we paid to stay at this hotel we have had far superior comfort and service in Tenerife. We would not recommend the hotel and we would not return.

Great hotel, excellent service, great location. Costa Adeje is a lovely area, lots to do nice shopping centre (Delduqe ) the hotel is adults only and all of the rooms are suites. The place is quiet and restful, there are ample sun beds the 3 restaurants are small but not crowded. However the indoor spa is extra charge. There’s entertainment in the bar at night nothing elaborate but quality. There is a courtyard restaurant, Torro del Mirador with dancing just outside the hotel overlooking the sea where we enjoyed a meal and a great time. Mind you there are builders working on the beach area a little bit further down opposite the Riu Palace , where we stayed at the same time last year and they were quite noisy still messing around 12 month later.

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon. The room was very nice, although the decor is a bit dated and could use a refurbishment. We had a lovely view from our room overlooking the ocean with a very nice terrace. The grounds are well maintained and we enjoyed sun bathing on the lawn overlooking the ocean - spectacular views. Pool was cold but fun. Breakfast with champagne was excellent every morning! The service in the restaurant was good and everyone was friendly, however the servers often seemed overworked or understaffed or both, running around and sweating. Shout out to Sonia, the maitre d', who was excellent and welcoming. What was disappointing about our stay was the poor service and attention to detail. On our check in, the reception staff was speaking in Spanish half of the time to the other employees and ignoring us which was not particularly inviting. When we went to reception to ask for recommendations on exploring Tenerife with the rental car we hired, we were handed a brochure on tours instead. We were also given incorrect information about travel from one area of the island to another - don't expect any reliable concierge services if you come here... Additional little details could be improved - the flowers in our room were moldy and not changed (see photos). Our pillowcase had a stain on it, so I placed it on the floor so that cleaning staff could replace it. Instead, they placed the stained pillow from the floor back on the bed. Very unimpressed. We called for an iron and ironing board which never came to the room. We called reception to ask if there was a cigar cutter we could use and we were told there wasn't with no recommendations on where to get one. Confused when we later saw cigars and cutters on display in the lobby. These are problems that I would not expect from any well run establishment, 5-star or not.

A week of relaxation, sunning ourselves in the depths of winter. The large sea view rooms to watch the sun go down into the sea have emperor beds and beautiful decor. The staff help make it special. 2 Cubans stood out with interesting stories and happy to chat. The young woman on reception made our arrival highly amusing with her impeccable English and enthusiasm. The day can be spent lounging around the sea facing terrace with every type of palm tree. Particularly like their 4 poster cabanas for opulent lounging about whilst being served poolside drinks. I could get used to this.

Traveling with husband, son and a pregnant daughter-inlaw. Resort well maintained and clean. Exceptional breakfast. Adult only and very quiet. Expensive but worth it if you want peace, beauty and total relaxation. Some might find it too quiet f.ex. no annoing background music but we loved it.

In June we went to Costa Adeje to renovate a nearby appartment (El Beril) and therefore we stayed this time in Mirador (before in Bahia del Duque and Riu Palace). General architecture of the hotel is less than Bahia and is a bit "chain hotel" but the rooms are very nice and cosy ! Poolside is nice and breakfast complete. But for me this type of hotel is too big and too unpersonal (although staff was friendly). Hotel less than Bahia but al lot better than Riu Palace. Location Costa Adeja is the finest location you can get at that part of Tenerife.

The overall comfort level is only surpassed by the friendly and genuinely caring staff. It is truly relaxing with outstanding suites , views and of course the cuisine. As golfers it is ideally positioned for us , with Adeje golf club being the best.

This hotel is excellent in every way. We’ve been going every January for 8 years and every year it gets better. The staff are wonderful and the accommodation lovely, the food is outstanding. The outside pool areas are sumptuous and spacious, no fighting fir sun beds. The bar area is quiet and lovely and the background entertainment very tasteful. Dining is free sitting and very comfortable and pleasantly friendly.

My husband and I stayed at El Mirador from Christmas Eve for a week. It was perfect in every way. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for peace and first class service. The staff are amazing; so friendly, efficient and accommodating. It is clearly a very well managed hotel and is spotlessly clean with an air of sophisitication about it. The interior design is lovely as is the Spa! The restuarants are wonderful. As vegetarians we were very well looked after too. The location could not be better and there is a choice of cafes and restuarants nearby if you do choose to eat out. We can't wait to go back one day. A and D. xx
