Park City Hotel-Central Taichung3.0 out of 5.0

This hotel is situated close to the central government buildings and short walking distance to the second market. It is easy to walk to Taichung main TRA station. I would recommend on the basis of convenience if you want to navigate Taichung.
A new hotel located at walking distance to train station and many restaurants. Not too far from the city park. The hotel has an exercise room and a self serving business center. An on site restaurant can host small party.
Taichung is a tricky city to navigate by public transport . Most people are prepared to pay for a chartered taxi with driver, which works out well if you are a group of four, but hurts the pocket when you are travelling solo or as a pair. I like this hotel because of location, location, location. It is a manageable 10-minute walk from Taichung Train Station ( which connects to the High Speed Rail Station, HSR, to Taipei ) There are ( free ) bus connections to the usual tourist sights and night markets for those holding an Easy Card ( the equivalent of a stored value travel card ) The front-line staff were most friendly and helpful with directions. Breakfast came with a good spread and room was comfortable for the two of us. Overall, a most pleasant experience for our stay in Taichung
The free use (including laundry powder) was wonderful. The hotel is in a good location, close to the main railway station (about 500 meters) and close to lots of restaurants. Don't miss going to Cama Coffee across the street. This is a surprisingly funky hotel in an otherwise fairly drab town. Having said that Taichung is a surprising town once you get to know it. The room was large, quiet and very comfortable. The staff were fantastic and were very helpful. I just can't imagine going to Taichung and not staying here. The internet is fast, reliable and easy to access (runs at about 17.8 mb/s). The gym is modern and well maintained. Not much to dislike here although if you area westerner the breakfast is a bit lacking. The orange juice of a morning (if available) is just orange cordial. I am really stretching to think about anything that wasn't great.
One recent TA reviewer claimed that this hotel was 'dated.' In contrast, I considered it great, as it looked to have been fairly recently renovated. Check in took about four minutes. My booking form from asiatravel indicated that breakfast was not included. However, it was. Our room on the seventh floor had a balcony and was a long way from the lift, which is what I had requested. The hallway was carpeted and airconditioned, always welcome when it is 32 degrees Celsius outside. The room had modern blond wood furniture including a good desk, a sizeable wardrobe, generously proportioned safety deposit box of a type that was easy to operate, one upholstered chair and a single bedside table wuth lamp. Airconditioning was efficient though slightly noisy. Blackout curtains were great and there was no discerible traffic noise. The WiFi wirked well and was fast. The bed lacked a top sheet but the doona and bed were good quality. Bathroom amenities were distinctive and sufficient. The combined bath and shower had nonslip texture but lacked a handrail. Hot water was almost instant and flowed at a good volume. A slight amount of water escaped the shower curtain and went on to the floor. At the second floor breakfast, the ham could have been kept hotter but the selection of dishes, while hardly world beating, was good. The sliced guava was a nice touch. The female waitress in her 50s had excellent English. Costing NT$90 each way, we used a taxi from the TRA raikway station and then connected by suburban train to the high speed rail station. We could have walked to or from the TRA station. Hotel staff were great.
We booked the standard double room, which was nice and clean albeit quite small. However, our room was facing inwards towards the opposite corridor (no building structure in middle), hence the room didn’t get much sunlight. On the other hand, my parents booked the combined twin room at a fractionally higher price, but we think it was more worth the price as the room was much bigger and had a nice city view. The hotel location is quite convenient as it is close to the Taichung train station (one bus stop away), and there is a bus stop near the hotel which can go to various tourist destinations such as Natural Way Six Arts Culture Center and Hanxi Night Market. The breakfast was surprisingly decent with a good variety of choices. We did not try the Chinese restaurant for dinner, but judging from the breakfast quality it should be good.
Room - nice, big and clean. The air conditioning temperature though is controlled by the hotel and drops about 1 degree per hour starting at 30 degrees Staff - friendly, courteous, and efficient Location - very good Breakfast buffet - average, limited variety
Friendly staff, clean and big room. Wellcome drink, candy and snack available in lobby. Only something dislike is the breakfast not that good, most of the hot dishes steam bun, sausages were cold already. Beside the breakfast, good value, definitely recommend to people.
Spent 2 nights with separate date in the beginning of May. Even though room is small and window of the 2/ F restaurant are quite dirty. We were welcomed, front desk are polite and especially thanks to Mr Zhao at the concierge desk, always giving us with smile for information. I would recommend it to others.
Had a good experience at this hotel. Stayed here for 3 nights. The room is neat & clean with decent space, free wifi. The location is walking distance from Taichung Railway Station, around 6 minutes walk. Convenient stores & some cafes can also be reached in few minutes walk. You can also walk to the famous original bubble tea place Chun Shui Tang in Siwei St, must visit if you're a fan of bubble tea. We were planning to visit the famous 2nd market for breakfast, it's also near the hotel, but didn't make it because we had to rush to go to other places every morning. You have to take taxi to Fengjia night market from the hotel, it'll take around 25 minutes & cost you 250NT dollar. We specifically want to thank this one receptionist, Joey for being so helpful & friendly during our stay. He always tried to help us with the location & even brought extra pillows to our room himself. He is very attentive and speaks English quite well. The only downside from the hotel is the breakfast. Not many choices, the taste is not really good as well. But the good thing is that it's included with our reservation. They also give free snack (biscuits, sweets) & tea from 5-9pm in the lobby area. Overall, pleasant stay & recommended
