July 2025 - we stayed here for 2 nights during our travels of the East Coast. We found the layout of the hotel was great, with lots of potential, however it desperately needs updating in the main areas (hallways, laundry room). The pool space was large and great for the kids to play, but very much needs updating. I noted the deck was dirty the first time visiting the pool, and noted the same dirt/hair, etc, was still in their original locations on the next day when we went back down. The staff are friendly and clearly doing their best, but as a whole the hotel seemed very understaffed. After a week into our road trip to the East Coast we needed to spread out. The suite room that we had was our favorite and provided much needed space. It had recently been renovated/updated. It was very convenient to have 2 bathrooms. I appreciated the kitchen having stocked supplies. The hotel was in a great location to get to the things we needed (grocery store, restaurants).

Overall the stay was good. however we did report on the Monday that the toilet was not working properly. The flange was not allowing the tank to refill. This was still an issue on checkout as it appears it was not attended to

Staff is terrific. Property is worn and not particularly clean. Bed was comfortable and property was quiet overnight. With the great location (right on the water) it would be worth investing in some updating.

We had an issue with our room at check-in and we had to move to another room. The breakfast was awesome. The staff were very friendly. The housekeeping was terrible. We were there for 5 nights and on 2 separate occasions our room was not cleaned. Another day they took the dirty towels and didn't leave clean ones.

The photos of this property on Expedia are OLD. The room itself was OK (one of the drawers in the dresser would not stay closed) but outside the room the place is really showing its age. The carpets are stained, glass is dirty, walls scuffed. The pool area was pretty gross. There was grime all the way around the pool at the waterline, there was chunks of hair floating in the pool, broken tiles and things were rusty and pretty worn. The change room at the pool was nasty. The free breakfast: sausages were undercooked and there was no coffee of all things. The machine was broken. The staff were nice, however.

We stayed one night while visiting the area, and in particular Fortress Louisburg. The room itself is a good size. The bathroom was separated between the sink area and the bathtub/toilet areas. The bathtub/shower could use some work. There was rust around the tub surround and the faucets and drain. To use the shower, one must use an extra switch which we didn't know - it would have been nice to have a sign to advise travelers. The pool and hot tub were decent but had some cosmetic issues around the pool deck. We appreciated the continental breakfast. The location was good, with shopping and restaurants within a short drive.
