Good location with some issues
Overall 3.5*, but I rounded up. We had a bunch of small frustrations that added up to just an "ok" experience. No response from host about our check-in time after multiple attempts. Building was locked when we arrived. Thankfully someone else came by and let us in. Upon entering the apartment we were greeted by a terrible smell and carpet that is many many years past its use period (a big swell right when you enter and some areas are starting to come apart). Thankfully the smell dissipated after 36 hours.
We liked the location. Close to a fantastic playground and walkable to stores and restaurants. The main harbor is reachable by tram. It's "china town" so the restaurants are similar to each other.
None of these issues were "deal breakers", but it starts to get very frustrating when more and more pop up:
—No wifi password (I figured it out from the bottom of the router)
—No shampoo, soap, laundry detergent or trash bags
—Dishwasher tablets, but a dishwasher that says "no tablets"
—Only a tiny packet of dish detergent
—No instructions for the washing machine which was not intuitive for non-Australians
—Our "welcome pack" included personal information from a previous tenant (ie passport photos and rental information)
—Great that there's an indoor pool, but it's very cold
—Wall decals are starting to peel off
—I had to reattach some of the curtains that were off their track
—Towel rod fell off the wall
—Shower head wasn't secure and hit one of us during a shower

Best location EVER!
If you have any reservations about booking this apt because of the location, JUST DO IT! This was our concern but the apt met all our needs. There were 5 of us, a senior, 2-18+ kids, me and my husband. The apt had more than enough space for us, except for the double in the bedroom which was very very cozy for two adults. The location across the street from Chinatown was AWESOME. Plenty of restaurant choices downstairs, across the street and in the Darling Harbour area. 5 minute walk to the light rail and groceries (Coles). 10 minute walk to the train, Queen Victoria Building/shopping, Barangaroo.... We walked everywhere from the apt. Your view looks into the Chinese Garden of Friendship. Building is very secure. Check-in was seamless. If you are thinking twice about reserving this apt. because of the location, don't. We would book this apt again in a heartbeat!

A great place, with fantastic access to Darling Harbour and all that it offers. You can't beat this location!! The size of the unit was perfect for the 3 of us. The only thing that I would change would be the carpet, it looks like it is ready to be replaced.
