Bob and Karen are rare gems. Their genuine and warm welcoming amidst the beautiful bush surrounds instantly set us at ease… and when we saw the house we were kinda gobsmacked! It’s truly a thing of beauty. Bob built this house (including every mud brick) along with surrounding rock walls over quite a few years and as he showed us through, it became clear that every feature of this house has a story attached to it. From the stairs made from railway sleepers to the bench repurposed from an old pool table and multiple other items that have been found/cleaned up, repurposed, up cycled and recycled - there’s a LOT of love and good will in this house (not to mention great style), which isn’t surprising after meeting Bob and Karen - they’re absolute crackers of humans.
Everything was perfect. The house was expansive yet cosy and warm with the log fire; the bedding was lovely and comfortable and the many small touches throughout the house added to the overall beauty and comfort.
The Gros River’s just a stones throw away - beautiful clear shallow waters, great for a paddle (apparently lovely to swim in in the summer months) and the idyllic bush setting made the whole experience so relaxing- the upstairs balcony was an awesome vantage point from which to soak it all in!
Overall an absolutely gorgeous
place hosted by the loveliest people you could ever wish to meet. We’ll definitely be staying here again! Can I give more than 5 stars?!
