Metro Aspire Hotel, Sydney

We stayed here for a couple of weeks in March and early April, booked for us by colleagues. It was near to much of central Sydney, and places were easy to get to, especially the Powerhouse Museum where we were involved in several events. Rooms were fine, beds fine, staff were mostly very nice. The only real issue we had was one we had everywhere in Australia, that the in-room internet left something to be desired. We were after a few days moved to a room with better wifi, so ask if you need that particularly as we did.

Nice hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. It's set in a quiet suburban street, but is close to Central Station, Darling Harbour and many of Sydney's attractions. Very close to Broadway, Chinatown. Would definitely think about staying here again if I come back to Sydney.

This was a fantastic find, found on the internet great price so we gave it a go, how lucky were we. This hotel is exactly how it is advertised the room pictures are authentic. Spotlessly clean could not fault. Plenty of room. We had breakfast extra $20ea. Great choice and delicious. Would highly recommend. We will be back.

Staff were lovely. Room had a real bath, plenty of space, a little outdoor balcony. Restaurant had decent food at decent prices. Quirky waterwall in restaurant with lots of greenery, brings the outside in. Recently refurbished throughout, it's quite lovely, so do not judge by the outside of the building. Easy walk to Darling Harbour and Sydney ICC for events/conferences.

The staff at Metro Aspire are amazing. Every single person I dealt with was friendly, helpful and genuine. But I slept poorly because the beds are rocks and the walls are thin. It's a shame because otherwise I'd be coming back.

This hotel is fairly close to Darling Harbour in a quiet suburb. Our room was very clean and spacious. We asked for a high floor and a view and were put on the top floor ( only 4 floors) and had a city view. The internet was free and fast and parking was $30 a day. We arrived at 3.00 pm on Sunday and left at 10.00am on Monday ( you don't have to check out until 11.00). I was wondering if we would be charged $60 for parking but no it was only $30. I would stay there again.

Loved the location of this hotel,a short walk to Darling harbour,a friendly pub around the corner, great value for money. The tourist information centre advised us to get a travel card which we used for trains ,ferries buses, perfect.

The Hotel is situated at Ultimo, in the centre of the University district. The Neighbourhood is really quiet and safe, even at night. It is walk distance to places such as the Sydney Fish Market, Central Station and Chinatown. Nearby has lots of cafes for quick breakfast bites well.

The standard of the refurbishment of this hotel clearly shows that Metro are committed to it as an enterprise. The rooms are large an well appointed, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is pretty good (the tropical water wall is amazing!), and I'm a fan of the area it's in. My room, at least, was pretty well priced. What really lets this hotel down is its fabric and many of its other guests. The walls are thin, I was treated regularly to the television and lovemaking noise of neighbouring guests, the perpetual opening and closing of room doors, corridor noise and some incredibly loud slamming of some appliance or attachment below (skip bin? fire exit door?) at all hours of the day and night. The worst part of this stay by far was issues created by guests smoking. It claims to be a non-smoking hotel, but I was awoken many times by the strong smell of cigarette smoke from other rooms, guests smoking on their non-smoking balconies, smoking of people in the gardens in the front of the hotel (the designated place) and smoking by staff *at the fire exit below my room.* I did raise these issues with staff, but seemingly to no effect. If you have a smoking policy ... enforce it. Otherwise say you're a hotel that welcomes smokers and the rest of us (I suspect the majority of us) will book elsewhere.

Nice, quiet residential street, but only a 10 minute walk to Chinatown, about 20 to Darling Harbour. Staff were very helpful. Room was pleasant enough, and clean. Nice to have a balcony, even if the view wasn't great! Good value, considering it is so central.
