A relaxing few days in Sydney thanks to Hotel Urban. A quiet location away from the hustle and bustle but still close enough to enjoy the highlights of the city. Bus out front and 10 minute walk to train station (15 minutes to Central Station) make this a great location. Large, comfortable room, excellent breakfast and service with good facilities. A bonus is the great views from the 4th floor rooms.
Wasn't sure what to expect, but exceeded expectations. Especially enjoyed having a gym (Jim) at the hotel. Room was quiet despite facing onto Pacific Highway - double glazing - but did mean you couldn't open the door to the outside area. Reception / Dining area, is a bit overwhelming with too much on. Service was friendly. Free Wifi, room service, all good. Good value for money
We stayed 4 nights(room 104) on the 1st floor. Room was average size with an unusable balcony, small, views of trees, back of the hotel, services/bins etc. The air conditioner was over 20 years old at least, was very noisy and basically useless. The bed was not comfortable at all and the pillows were so bad I went to Kmart at 10pm to buy myself a pillow and pillow case to use for the rest of my stay. (This hotel also sells new pillows and quilts to its guests in a special pack for $450 approx. to take home and keep) Our room was right near the Gym & we could hear the equipment being used by guests. At one point we could smell cigarette smoke in the hall way. One morning we heard two knocks on the door and ignored it as we were not expecting anyone/thing which woke us up. Then we had two phone calls questioning us about our room service order however we did not place a room service order. The bathroom was tiny, did not have lock on it or an exhaust fan and the toilet did not have a soft close lid. When we booked we chose & paid for a room with a balcony. i guess we got the worst room in the hotel that has a balcony. The check in/reception/dining area was terrible also. No air con and too many things happening in one space made it difficult to move around. They had fluffy carpet, tables in the way with mugs/cups and water for functions only that you had to manoeuvre around with your luggage. They were selling their toiletries and had way too many dining tables for the space. You can tell the 'bar' was originally the reception area and the current reception desk is squished in the corner. Overall I was very disappointed and would not stay here again. The only good thing about this hotel is the coffee & staff from the restaurant/bar. This hotel is below average, overpriced & uncomfortable.
Great hotel close to everything near the city. Comfortable bed and room was clean. Lovely staff and very helpful. Umderground parking available amd only 5.mims from the station. Pubs close by and cafes Would definately use again
Booked this hotel off booking.com Ok place. Getting a bit tiered. Did the happy hour. Got refused a drink after. Sat in the lonely corner all on my own Didn't speak to anyone. Why couldn't I get a beer? I'll go somewhere else next month. P.S. room not serviced today either.
Great location across road to major hospitals, bus outside door to Sydney city and North Shore, short stroll to St Leonards train station and shops. Short drive to Sydney Harbour and ferries. Rooms are large and contemporary. Gym facilities and lift to ground floor restaurant/cafe. Check in/out efficient and friendly. Security underground parking is available for a fee although street parking is readliy available in surrounding residential streets on weekends without parking restrictions.
I have been staying at the Hotel Urban sporadically for the past 9 years and it is always consistent with excellent service, great food and a great atmosphere. It's my "go to" place whenever I'm in Sydney because I know exactly what I'm getting and they have never missed a beat. I receive great rates for being a repeat customer and the team at Urban always project a positive and vibrant experience with great customer service and support. I love my Snorer king bed and the rooms are always perfectly presented so full credit to the cleaning team. Cannot express enough the value in the currency of consistency. Awesome job Urban!
Good value suburban hotel that does all the basics well. Ideal for a short stay city-break or business trip being close to North Sydney and with easy transport access into the City. On-site parking is a bonus as surrounding residential area has very limited parking availability. Despite having a room facing the Pacific Highway, our room was quiet. Had a good breakfast in the ground floor dining area, though oddly (and annoyingly) the buffet did not include hot beverages, ie. tea, which has to be purchased separately from the adjoining cafe >:
Booked and paid for online. Super quick check-in. Friendly staff on arrival and checkout. Clean room with good amenities. Excellent size bath towels. Doubled glazed windows means it was relatively quiet. Convenient to good cafes.
A three-night stay confirmed previous positive reviews about this place. Bathroom is a bit small but other facilities were good. Had room on Pacific Highway side but noise was not a problem. Happy hour from 4-6pm is welcome.
