The room is neat, clean, nicely design and comfortable. We love the 6th floor facility as well with nice pool, gym, except the jacuzzi was too small. The access to the mall and casino are easy but one thing that annoyed us was the lift waiting time and lots of gamblers taking the same lifts to the casino & sovereign room, which as a guest, we don't feel safe & comfortable
The star....with its name, the place is exactly out of the box. Highlights- Casino 10major n minor restaurants Shopping Arcade within it ATMs inside btw lots of spacious rooms good affinity from the market harbour is soo nearby (its a main place there) china town is 20min walk from this hotel
We stayed here for three days recently to enjoy all the facilities The Star has to offer. The rooms have been updated since our last stay and are very classy. The bedding was so soft we all wanted to take it home. Tried our luck on Craps, Roulette and the Pokies but unfortunately will still have to go to work. Got nice discounts at restaraunts and some free drinks through The Star Club which is free to join. Parking is plentiful and free with a small amount of play while in the casino. The Godfather Burger is huge and delicous. The buffet breakfast is fantastic. The pool and spas are very nice and relaxing. The saunas are new but not available for couples as they are in each change room.
Let me start by saying i do like this hotel very much - the hardware - the room is very modern very comfortable, adequate good lighting, sensor touch points, bright bathroom standing shower excellant (but bad bad hairdryer ) overall very good - and close to the casino not an issue it was very lively and bustling. On check in had to deal with a cocky rude receptionist who was more interested in making sure i pay my bill then anything else. Asked for daily newspaper - received none. Now the main problem part - the arrogant attitude of the front office team in particular the Duty Managers. Requested for a 2 hour late check out from 11am to 1pm. Flatly refused and never came back to advise. Had to ask sales dept for help- referred back to Duty Manager mercy/ FO as they can't make a decision - was pushed around again and again finally was given just one hour to 12noon - begged for another hour till 1pm - no reply just got ignored after that. On the departure day i was just 10 mins late for check out as i rushed back in the rain- received a knock on the door- staff says room service opened the door it was not room service it was a FO staff asking me : Are you going to check out ?? Then i saw other staff going from door to door knocking identifying themselves as room service and doing the same thing - asking people to leave! First time i saw thing and i thought it is pretty bad to treat guests like that - then i remembered this is after all a casino hotel - and the guests are mainly mainland China guests - not that they deserve to be treated this way but this is no way a corporate hotel for sure. That is not how you treat guests with care. Then when i was leaving a small mercy and kindness - the porter staff who asissted me with the bags into the cab, very enthusiatic and pleasant - he asked when i will be back again - but i really couldn't answer him.
We have stayed here a number of times and it never disappoints. Great rooms, easy access to pool/ gym and casino. Multiple eating options on site! Love this place!! Treat yourself with a limp transfer from the airport.... arrive prepared for a luxurious stay.
We stayed last week end for a wedding in the city, the apartment we got was very nice and spacious. The apartment had been renovated and everything was fabulous, the view from the balcony gave a good look around the city to the harbour bridge. There are many great places to eat downstairs and obviously if you are a gambler a whole casino to play in. The biggest disappointment was the parking area, to wait for a lift upstairs whilst carrying luggage was ridiculous. The building noise also distracted from the recovery from a good night out.
Awesome stay.. great service, room was amazing. Clean, comfortable, spacious and well designed. Tasteful and high tech furnishing. Nice touches and many surprises. Loved the gym equipment and view. Convenient to get food and shopping from stores in the same building. Superb amenities. Could improve on room temperature (min is 18c but felt like 19-20c) and for the room I was in, there was no desk for dining or working. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and was able to rest well and ready for all the day's demands. Well done.
Stayed here for 2 weeks for business. Positives: The refurbished room was nicely appointed, and there are little things that makes your stay more enjoyable (e.g. automated drapes, master room light switch in multiple place in the room - e.g. you dont need to wake up from bed to turn off the light in the hallway. Negatives: Internet is spotty (wireless was 1 bar everywhere in the room - rendering it useless for any leisure / business activities), need to move rooms before getting room near the elevator that has internet connection. There was a hiccup with my stay where suddently i was called quite abrubtly in the afternoon that my stay was over (this is day 2 of my 2 weeks stay - it was confirmed at check in as i was being asked the full 2 weeks amount from my credit card). The person on the call was rather rude asking me to move my stuff from the room as it is beyond checkout time. After couple of minutes of argument, not even a sorry from the management. Will need to come back as have weekly travel commitment to area near the hotel. Lets hope no more hiccups.
We stayed for one night in one of the suites which had not been upgraded. It was very run down and quite dirty. Lots of building work going on so don't expect to lie in. However on a plus side the staff were amazing. We arrived very early and they let us use the leisure club to change Would I return only if a refurbished room was available
We could not get accommodation at the venue of the wedding we attended so we decided to stay at Star City. It was a good choice. Staff are excellent and our free upgrade to a wonderful view of the harbour on a high floor was very much appreciated. Clean, spacious rooms and a large comfy bed. Although our upgrade was to a 'smokers' suite (I'm a non smoker) it did not smell of cigarettes and was clean and airy. Close to everything including transport and the casino is open 24/7. Well worth the stay and we will be back.
