Astral Tower and Residences at The Star

Upon arrival we found out that we had been upgraded from our originally booked hotel room in Astral Tower to a serviced apartment in the Residences part (my assumption is that because the hotel is currently undergoing renovation they'd rather avoid getting complaints and nasty reviews because of noise, etc.), which was truly stellar: a huge living room/kitchen area, 2 separate bedrooms and bathrooms, with a small wardrobe, etc. A truly lovely place with good quality kitchen utensils, L'Occitane toiletries, a Nespresso machine and other nice details. Beds were extremely comfortable and the only things I would have wished for were better lighting in the bathroom and for reading in bed and - #firstworldproblem... body lotion would have been nice, too (so far, I have never been to a 5* hotel where I didn't get any, so I never take some of my own along, but this is really a small detail). Also, while our space was super clean, we noticed a cigarette butt and crumpled tissue next to the elevator on our floor (8th) that obviously did not get noticed by any cleaning staff for over 24 hours... The outdoor pool with its view of the skyline is small, but offers a truly spectacular view by night. Make sure to go! Again, attention to cleaning in public areas could be improved as I slid in a puddle and landed on the floor (nothing happened but a scratched knee). It definitely was partly my own fault as I was looking at the skyline and not the floor, but then again, I did not expect a wet floor near the exit of the pool area, far away from the water. Upon checking in (super friendly staff and a smooth experience) we were handed half-price vouchers for the breakfast buffet on the casino floor. We were rather underwhelmed by it, to be honest. It was huge with a lot of variety and you could eat a lot for the 20 AUD per person we had to pay, but we found that it catered mostly for Asian or American palates (e.g. hardly any variety of cheese, at least not when we were there at 10 a.m.) or children it seemed and we did not like the atmosphere there too much. If you have ever stayed at an American hotel chain in a casino town like Las Vegas, you know the special type of "railway station" atmosphere populated by zombified looking gamblers. As you can probably guess, we were not there for the casino located in the same building :-) Would I book it again? Yes, definitely! I'd just make sure to bring my own body lotion and less slippery flip-flops. As my mother put it: with accommodation so nice, you actually have to motivate yourself to step outside.

By far the most amazing customer service experience I have received. The reception gentleman was fantastic from the get go helping us check in early, to assisting us in booking another room. House keeping were very friendly and prompt. Can't ask for a better trip. The room itself is quite nice, however coupled with the customer service I have received this has been the most amazing trip ever. Thank you very much to the star Sydney astral tower team.

Fantastic service from Kane at reception. He upgraded us to a magnificent suite and made our reunion extra special. I highly recommend this hotel and their staff. Look for Kane he will give you the best service. “New best friend” 😀

We've stayed at the Astral Towers in the Star Casino City complex number of times but this was our first stay since rooms were renovated. The hotel has always been run very efficiently with invariably helpful staff. The new rooms are simply designed with Olsen prints on the wall and stunning city scape views from the eastern facing rooms. In the evening, the newly designed lighting plan is one of the best; innovative and practical with intuitive controls. Beds and pillows are plush and all enveloping and are possibly the best beds we've experienced in a hotel for some time. Rooms are quiet and well insulated. Unfortunately, although the bathrooms are well designed, the water pressure is poor. Surely in this day and age this shouldn't be an issue. Tarif is reasonable with valet parking included in our room rate. You don't have to be a gambler to enjoy the Astra's hospitality. This is a hotel that lives up to its promises and it's only a short walk away from Darling Harbour, the Maritime Museum and the CBD's shops, bars and restaurants.

My wife and I booked a room at The Astral in order to attend an Oktoberfest event put on by the Star Casino. On checking in, the courteous young man on reception upgraded us to a two bedroom apartment at the Astral Residences. On walking into Room 857, we were overwhelmed by its spaciousness, luxuriousness and immaculate cleanliness. The view from our private balcony took in, among other things, Darling Harbour and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It is not an understatement to say that it genuinely doesn’t get much better than this. I highly recommend this hotel, and, indeed, this Casino. Thank you Echo Entertainment. Your service is unsurpassable.

We stayed in one of their suites with a view of the Sydney CBD and the Harbour, wow the view was spectacular, the room was quiet, and well maintained. The staff treated us like VIP's, nothing was too much trouble. We also recommend Food Quarter Restaurant, the service is quick, and good too! We highly recommend the Sydney Star Casino, we are so looking forward to our next stay, thank you Astral Tower and Residences, Sydney Star Casino.

Stayed at Astral Towers for one night while up in Sydney to see a show at the Lyric Theatre. Room was beautifully clean, the bed was enormous and like sleeping on a cloud. The staff extremely friendly and helpful and the robe and slippers were lovely, thick and comfortable. Best of all, the room was the quietest I have ever stayed in. Not a sound of any kind (and I’m a person who turns fridges down in hotel rooms because the noise keeps me awake!). Oh, and I can also recommend pre-show dinner at Blacks restaurant.

Stayed here last month for 1 night as part of a business conference. Found everything to be top class. Part of Star Casino with all the eateries and entertainment within the precinct. The room was large, but also had electronic shutters to reduce noise. Everything was well maintained and super clean. The staff were helpful and the breakfast offered a range of foods I had not seen for breakfast before. Stayed at the Pullman in Homebush next week and it was nowhere near as good as Astral Towers.

We are just two ordinary Aussies who went to Sydney for the night to celebrate a birthday. We were treated like royalty by all staff. Nothing was too much trouble and we had a great time. We will be back.

We stayed at the Astral Towers and Residence at Star City for two nights. We stayed in a two bedroom apartment and were kindly upgraded to harbour view. The manager also sent up a lovely fruit platter to welcome us. Without question the best part of the room was the view which was truly spectacular. The apartment had large kitchen area with lots of bench space however the was only a toaster and jug, no microwave or cooking facilities of any kind so I'm not quite sure why there was so much bench space. It took up a lot of the room and seems to be a poor use of space. The bathrooms were modern and clean and the beds soft and comfortable. There was large flat screen TV in the living room and both bedrooms. Unfortunately our bedroom door was broken and off the hinges when we arrived. Maintenance came to fix it after we complained but it still didn't close properly. There is also a gap where the block out blinds don't quite come all the way down which means the morning lights streams in. There bathroom amenities could have been better there was only only soap, shampoo and conditioner, some face and body lotion would have been appreciated. Check in and check out were fast and flawless. Concierge was also very accommodating. The common ares especially the lifts desperately need updating. Our key card was hit and miss which was really frustrating. But overall the newly renovated hotel is a big improvement.
