Just spent a week here. We loved the place. Slept very well with the sound of the surf in the back ground. The food was lovely and the staff made us feel very welcome. Thanks Ryan, great time was had. Sand, sea and rum punch, oh, and work. WIFI not the best, seemed to come and go in the room, but sitting at reception improved the situation.

We pulled into the Grand Bay and had breakfast/brunch here. Monique took care of us and she was excellent. The service was excellent, the food flavorful and the view exceptional. It was very laid back with the occasional beach walker going by to wherever beach goers go. Though we had a crowd of 9, it didn't phase Monique at all and we had varied menus. Coffee, eggs, bacon, omelets and the rest were all tasty.

We arrived at the dinghy dock from our catamaran in search of dinner at 6 pm. We were told the restaurant was closed until 7 but we could order off the snack menu. We were hungry so opted to be seated and look at the menu. There wasn't a single person in the restaurant at this time. We asked to sit out front for a view but were told that all the tables were reserved for hotel guests only and were shown to a small table in the back of the bar area. To the waitress' credit, she did talk the kitchen staff into making us a pizza (the only other option available to us at 6pm). When we finished at 7, and headed back to the dinghy dock, only two of over 30 tables were occupied by other guests. We certainly could have been seated somewhere else.... don't come here for dinner unless you are staying at the resort. I did consider this resort for the land based part of our stay. I am so glad we ended up on Bequia and at Salt Whistle Bay instead. This property has a marginal beach and unfriendly staff.

Beautiful view - service is outstanding. Staff well trained and very focused on going above and beyond Bar on the beach is outstanding and beach / bay is exquisite. Would highly recommend. People all over hotel are wonderful

We really like the hospitality of the staffs in the Pirate Cove Restaurant. The waitress always serves you with a smile and with suggestions. About the food, I ordered Pizza and they have the best pizzas on the island. I am very happy with the personnel, you feel very welcomed.

The only restaurant open on Sunday afternoon was the Beach Bar. The service was good but the food was horribly overpriced (see photo of menu) and not good at all. The Chicken Wrap was indelible but the waiter didn't say anything when he removed the plate with just one bite eaten of the meal. My Niçoise salad arrived with just shredded lettuce, olives, tomatoes and feta cheese. I asked the waiter where the tuna, anchovies and eggs were. He went back to the kitchen and came back with a plate with the missing items. Not a new salad, just the missing items. And the hot food, a burger and a BLT were cold. All of this for over US$100 including sodas! What a rip off.

Generally a great stay at the only affordable hotel on the island. Restaurant doesn't have a huge amount of diversity but the choices it does offer are all very well done (although the fish is often WELL done). Staff very friendly, always willing to help. Thanks everyone!

This place would be rated as perfect (5 points) if they had proper management in place. First the good points: - easy reservation (we had to cancel last year which was also dealt with very correctly) - airport pick-up very well organized - check-in very fast, probably the fastest I ever had - rooms very nice and clean - good beach, nice hotel grounds - service at reception very friendly and highly competent - great beach bar with excellent staff But if you come to Caribbean to enjoy quiet holidays, then don't come here. The bad points, that make our stay just very bad for the first 2 days, are: 1. In the evening, at the only open restaurant (close to the beach, nice location as such) loud techno music destroys any nice ambience there may be. I'm sure every guest present would have enjoyed less loud music or no music. Addressed to the management I need to say that you are a hotel, not a disco! But one can avoid this, eating somewhere else. The music was turned down a bit later during our stay. The restaurant manager was competent & friendly, just liked loud music. 2. Thinking it could not get any worse, we were very negatively surprised. The first morning, at 08:30, extremely loud techno music came all over the resort, unbelievably loud, from party boats that actually did not leave the beach for quite a long time. Unbearable music, on the beach, that's all one needs. At the reception they said they could not do anything. The hotel may be right or wrong here as they e. g. could have called their “neighbors” asking them to stop the music from the 4x2 meter big loud speakers on the boats. And the same type of noise on the next day, not from a boat but from a bar! That all may not be the hotel’s fault, but they should advertise on their website that loud parties do go on permanently around the hotel. 3. As Europeans we will never understand why we had to pay extra for espresso coffee while having breakfast included in the room rate (MAP). Breakfast included in room rate, but we paid 24 USD for 2 double espresso. How nice? And breakfast as such was really bad, terrible canned unhealthy fruit juice with far too much sugar only, fresh fruit (weak selection) only at extra cost, again! And the service at breakfast was unfriendly, even hostile. I wish the hotel manager would walk around, watching the face expression and body language of their employees. A lady called Gallesia (or similar) was the worst. 4. And then there were 4 drunken Italian workers from nearby construction sites at the beach (mainly beach bar), shouting and screaming, ruining our beach day. Where is the management? What else must happen before management intervenes? The hotel is already very empty, and more guests will leave soon, with this type of external guests (non-residents) at the beach and bar. Short cash seems to weigh more than hotel guest satisfaction in the long term. What a bad strategy! Deemed for disaster? 5. Internet speed was terribly low.

Canouan is definitely off the beaten path, so if you want to get away from everything this is the place to go. The Tamarind is the only show in town, and the staff are pleasant and helpful. You will want to bring voltage adapters as there only a limited number available at the front desk.

I stayed here during the summer of 2016. This was the non-peak season so it was virtually empty. However, the staff were extremely friendly and quite accommodating. The rooms are not the most modern, but I think it is inkeeping with the rustic feel of the hotel. That being said the rooms are still well taken care of and are all right along the beach. IT is great to lie in bed and hear the waves along the shore. Restaurant was great, breakfast lunch and dinner were excellent. I would definitely return.
