Booking was simple. The Hodnett staff was excellent. We arrived super late (2am) but that made the five drive from Atlanta easy and traffic-free. Since we arrived after hours, they texted directions to pick up our two keys from the drop box a few blocks away. Instructions were clear and easy to follow. There was ample parking and plenty of carts available.
When we got inside, we were blown away by the sheer size of the condo. The pictures, as beautiful as they were, did not do the place justice. You have to see it for yourself. And feel the breeze on coming from the wall of SCREENED windows and sliding doors overlooking the beach. It was amazing! The beds were comfortable. The chairs were comfortable. It was cute to see my 7YO move in like he owned the place. He immediately connected to Netflix, and
WiFi was strong the entire time. All of the appliances were of great quality and easy to use. My mother chose the smaller room since she preferred the firmer bed. She really enjoyed her privacy, watching Law & Order marathons and “cowboy pictures” at her leisure. She more than deserved to kick her feet up and do whatever she wanted... and she did just that.
The beach was nice, quiet, felt private. Entrance to and from the beach required a private code, but was easy to manage. The water was surprisingly warm. There were lots of jellyfish on the shore, but we enjoyed a few waves. The small pool was always empty and felt like it was only ours since we were the only ones in it. My baby learned to swim, so we left his floaty behind for the next family. However, pool noodles, beach chairs and beach toys were provided for our stay.
We ordered carry out from Iguanas Seafood Restaurant (ask for Tiffany) and Certified Burgers, and enjoyed them at the condo. I found a pearl in my Oyster Po-Boy. Not complaining!
The best part though, was not the beautiful condo or the delicious food. It was all of the kind, thoughtful, friendly people. Everyone was nice! Everyone spoke! All ages, all races! The dogs were friendly! The seagulls were even respectful! I’m in awe of St. Simons Island. It’s truly a magical place. I feel so blessed and grateful for the quick getaway to celebrate my son’s achievements. All A’s both semesters, completely virtual, during a pandemic. I am so full. My cup truly runneth over.
