Second time at this splendid hotel, location, room, amenities, cleanliness, everything is excellent. There is one thing you won’t get in this place! A smile! Perhaps is the “style” the management wants. So sorry, bitter personnel you have!
First of all I must say that I love Kempinski all over the world and this one also in on my list now. Hotel has incredible location, just a few steps from Hermitage and Dvortsovaya square. If you are a running lover and do you 5K in the morning than you will have a chance to easily see a lot of St. Petersburg sightseeing points in 30 minutes run) Great breakfast - with good choice from the buffet and also you can order from a menu which is also included in breakfast price plus Louis Roderer champagne to pump you in the morning for a nice day. Clean and well equipped rooms. I would only mention that beds are not as comfortable as they might be in Kempinski, however when you are absolutely exhausted after sightseeing anyway you sleep well) I also would like to mention friendly staff of the hotel, especially all ladies at restaurant where you have breakfast.
Lots of rooms have a view to internal court and some are even not to the fresh air but to some internal indoor parts of the hotel. Changed such room but was moved to another one with a view to nowhere but at least to uncovered internal court. Doesn’t worth its price. Rooms are clean, breakfast is ok, catering for coffee breaks is good. location is cool.
Stayed here recently for 3 nights and it didn't disappoint! The location is excellent as its near a lot of the main attractions. The Hermitage is literally a cross the road. Our room was luxurious with bathrobes, slippers and a turn down service. We thought breakfast was very expensive so decided not to eat in hotel. However, we would definitely recommend the roof top bar with its breathtaking views of the city. Also the bar near reception was also excellent. Big thanks to the concierge team who helped us organise a trip to Peterhof, they couldn't have been more helpful!! What a beautiful city, might consider returning in the Summer as the canals were frozen so couldn't enjoy a boat ride!! I would absolutely recommend this hotel!!
What a location, a minute walk from The Hermitage, this hotel is just lovely, rooms are spacious, bed is very comfortable with high quality inclusions, bathroom had bath and separate shower, all looked very new or had been recently renovated. Service was outstanding, breakfast was a high quality continental or you could order fresh from a la carte menu, what a nice change from cold buffet breakfast High recommended
I've been to this hotel before largely because of its treatment of me on my previous visits. Although the room we were given was changed to one with a better view, (actually of the "Church of Spilled Blood"), we still found it a little small. Having discussed this with the reception staff they were happy to change it, at an increased price because what I ordered was what I got. We decided to keep as was, as there was nothing wrong with the room anyway, just would have preferred something a little more spacious. The room was clean with all the amenities you would expect but missing any drink making facilities. We didn't raise it as an issue because we weren't that bothered but I am sure had we asked, they would have provided. The bathroom was spotless and the toiletries very good. We had an issue with the pillows being too soft but we improvised so no biggie and didn't bother with the reception or room service after we found a solution The spa wasn't open for our stay except for the last night but it was very good, clean and well catered for with pleasant staff who was very helpful. We didn't eat dinner at the hotel but what we saw of the food was beautifully presented and judging by the faces and the nods by the people who were eating, tasted pretty good too. Breakfast was a joy, lots of variety, fresh honey comb, cold meats, breads, menu options ect, catered for all tastes with the added bonus of champagne. We didn't even need to ask for it, we were offered it. The downstairs bar also the same, very clean, very pleasant staff with excellent bar skills and knowledge. I did talk to Natalia from the management of the hotel about our Visa's and something every western traveller should note. When contacting the hotel to ask for your confirmation of booking to support your visa application, you need the letter of confirmation but you also need a voucher. Don't go to your local Russian Visa application centre without your hotel voucher otherwise you will be turned away and told to get it. Natalia has promised to ensure her staff are aware of this for future bookings. All in all, the hotel is beautiful and we could not fault it. Close to all the amenities, the only criticism for me is the cost of the hotel cars. Be aware that the cost of using the hotel fleet of cars for trips out is very expensive but they can book you a normal city taxi for a fraction of the price.
Our family - my partner and I, and our two adult sons - stayed here for three nights in early December, (thankfully) in 2 separate rooms. We loved the art and culture of St Petersburg; they enjoyed the nightlife. The Kempinski Hotel Moika 22 has to be almost the perfect hotel in the perfect location, only a few short steps over the Moika River bridge to the Winter Palace Square and the Hermitage and it’s treasures. Our room, elevated and at the rear of the building, had a view over a riot of snow covered rooftops to the spectacular cluster of domes of the Church of the Saviour on Spilled Blood beyond. A knockout. From the superb breakfasts served in the Lobby Restaurant to the nautical themed room decor, the hotel oozed quality, refinement and style. Loved, in particular, the salmon and blini pancakes - with a bottomless glass of champagne - for breakfast, and the sensational Christmas decorations, including the variety of gifts available in the hotel shop. We love our nutcracker man - thanks Anastasia. (Hope you make it to Uluru.) If you’re thinking of travelling to St Petersburg, we highly recommend a stay at the Hotel Kempinski, and we hope you enjoy the ambience of the hotel, the warmth and attention of the staff, and the proximity to some of the greatest art in the world as much as we did.
Mid-range hotel in a great location with luxury prices. It's technically considered a five-star hotel but the rooms and service do not meet expectations. The lobby and rooms while clean seem dated and could benefit from renovation. There are subtle reminders from the crinkled room service menu to the overstuffed couch that slumps in the middle of the thousands of previous guests who've gone through your room. Our room had a nice view of the city but was modest in size. There were plumbing problems in which the smell of sewage would regularly come up through the bathroom tub. The shower was separate from the tub and rather tight; certainly not up to the standards of a five-star hotel. Breakfast was the usual overpriced affair with a large buffet of one disappointing item after another. As other reviewers have mentioned, the hotel is as close as one can be to the Winter Palace and the start of Nesky Prospekt. To other attractions in town, you'll be at least a 10 minute minute, sometimes 20 minute walk. The neighborhood is very quiet at night. While I felt safe, some visitors may not traveling the empty streets back to the hotel alone. Bottom line: If you find a good deal for this hotel, it's not a bad option; but it cannot compare to other five and even four star hotels in the area.
A first rate hotel in a superb position around the corner from The Hermitage overlooking the Moika river. Staff were very attentive and a doorman was on duty at all times, despite the cold weather. Breakfasts were extensive and account for all tastes, with a pianist playing the grand piano during service!. There was a separate afternoon tea room and a bar with comfy leather chairs. It has a rooftop restaurant overlooking The Hermitage. Our bedroom was similar to all other international 4 star hotels but included a plentiful supply of toiletries and a turn down service. All in all a great find and in winter great value for money. Would be back again tomorrow without hesitation.
We stayed here for several nights and found the hotel excellent in every way. Starting with their prompt help with our visa application (letters of invitation) through to the stay itself. The hotel is very centrally located very close to the Hermitage whilst being in a quiet street. Our welcome and help throughout our stay from the friendly front desk staff was faultless. The room, whilst reasonably sized, was clean, well maintained and very comfortable. Breakfast, taken adjacent to the lobby, was excellent - our only advice would be to take a table furthest away from the main door as, in winter, the cold air can get past the double doors when many people are entering/leaving the hotel. Lunches and dinners can be taken in the top floor restaurant which provides an excellent view of the city. The cosy ground floor bar is great for late night drinks and on some nights has a jazz trio playing. A fabulous stay!
