Grand Plaza Beachfront Resort Hotel

We stayed for 4 nights, July 15-19. We found the hotel itself to be in good condition and actually quite aesthically pleasing from the outside. The pool was small, but not too overcrowded, but could use more chairs and places to sit. We dined at Spinners one night, which had a gorgeous view of the entire beach. The food was good, but nothing special. We also had drinks at Bongos, which offered live music and an outside bar and was never very crowded which was nice. Our room was great and had a beautiful view of the ocean. Room service only came twice during our stay, but we really didn't mind. The one not so great thing about this hotel is he elevators. I realize there's no real way to fix this, but having only one set of elevators was not ideal. Also, the elevator going up to Spinners and Level 11 has NO AC, and was very uncomfortable. Overall our stay was good and would come back to this hotel and recommend it to a friend.

I love everything about this hotel! Friendly, welcoming staff, beautiful beach, amazing food and nightly entertainment at the best bar on St. Pete Beach. This is my 5th trip and I will definitely be returning!

Hotel is ok, directly on the beach. Room was spacious, had in room coffee maker and fridge. Hallways and elevators have no air conditioning. Elevator to highest floors is like a sauna. Restaurant on top floor has revolving floor, which is cool and bar area on floor just below is very nice overlooks the city, ocean

I went to this resort for a writing retreat weekend and to unwind after a long semester of teaching undergrads. My co-author and I worked in one of the suits with gorgeous ocean views which really helped motivate both of us. We also took time out to walk the beach, get in the ocean, and enjoy the hotel restaurants. It was a great hotel and a great work-cation.

Great location. Each room has a private balcony. Hotel staff was great. No God lots of fun.

We loved the beach infront of the hotel. This was a family friendly environment. Nice small pool. Restaurants at this hotel were better then most of the places we are In the area. The view from the balconey, roof top dinners and 11th fl open lounge were awesome. The live music at bongos great especially with the drinks and beach vibe. The hotel rooms themselves were dated and painted. They could use some upgrades and modernization.

Well I haven't stayed there for about 6 years and have always wanted to return. The beach access and the rooms are one of a kind. I had the opportunity to go with my family and it was just as great as I remember. First off I really need to mention Tami who checked me in and was so pleasant and welcoming besides the fact that she was very busy. While we waited for our room we utilized the beach and listened to music from the Bongo bar. The weather was a bit chilly but very sunny for February. Once our room was ready we unloaded our stuff than went to dinner. After dinner we had enough time to head back to the beach for the sunset and met an awesome couple who were celebrating a birthday. We had to get up early the next morning to travel up state to attend a family funeral so we called it an day early. Unfortunately sleep was not easy to come by due to the hotel next door and the loud echo. If it hadn't been for this I would have given my stay 5 stars. I do of course realize the hotel has no control over this. We left early the next morning and where on out way. I may be back this weekend with Rachel for her birthday. :) I told her how awesome your facility is!

Wonderful location. Gorgeous beach. Facilities, food and staff excellent. Congeniality persists throughout personnel. Looking forward to coming back again.

I paid for ocean view. In that price range, towel hooks shouldn't be falling off, the bed should have a pillow top, a robe would be nice and perhaps one comfy side chair. It was old and needed a face lift. Staff was jammed constantly w weddings. The elevators (2) were sloooowwwww. It was not great. But the view is stunning. I won't be back.

Nice location at the beach but the hotel was very old, out dated and dirty. Loud music blared til very late at night.

My husband and I visited Grand Plaza beachfront 'resort' for our 1 year wedding anniversary this past week. I would have to honestly say we won't be returning. The lady at the check in counter was very nice and suggest good restaurant nearby. However we booked the partial sea view room. The room just looked dirty. The door nob to the balance was broken. Also our toilet was broken. For every flush we had to lift the top and connect the wires. GROSS! To avoid being in the room we spent majority of our time at Bongos! OMG was an amazing spot. If you do stay at this 'resort' make sure to get Mick the bartender to make drink. He saved the whole experience. Also the roof top bar is great however seems random considering the 2 star hotel it's located in. There is only one elevator to the floors and ceiling fans in the hall ways. You would think the amount of money you paid the AC would be available. It's safe to say we won't be returning to this 'resort'.

The location of this hotel on the beach is very nice. However our stay got off to a very rocky start. Our room was not ready at check in time and the staff was very vague about why it was not ready or when it would be ready. We went back to the desk several times to inquire if the room was ready. While at the desk we overheard a very angry guest asking to be moved because next door to him was a noisy bacherlorette party. The staff told him that they had no where else to put him because the hotel was full. Meanwhile we were told that we would receive a phone call telling us when the room was ready. At almost 8 PM we had not received a phone call. The manager of the bar checked on the room for us and it was ready. When we got to our room we were next door to the bachelorette party which had decorations all over the door and very noisy girls, screaming, banging doors and up very late. We wanted to be understanding but it was hard. The hotel staff pretended they did not know there was a party next door. On the 3rd night we called security. They came up, knocked on the door and left. The manager of the hotel gave us $50 in complementary money and allowed us to check out at 2 instead of 11. The room we got was beach front which was nice because we had only paid for a beach view room. However the noise we put up with spoiled our stay in our room. We felt the hotel took no action unless forced to. This makes me hesitant to stay there again.

In need of an update. Room had a smell but beds were comfortable. Bathroom had a minor renovation, but already showing signs of wear.

The staff was so friendly and accommodating, location is great. Went to Spinners for dinner, the food was below average, especially for the price. The apps were good, but the meal was over priced and over cooked. However, the view and experience made it worth it. I would not go to Spinners again unless it was for apps. The pool is also very small. Overall I would go back to get away for a few nights if the price was right.

We booked this online never having been to the area. The hotel is an interesting cylinder design. We had a corner room with slight view of the bay. Since our room was a corner unit the bed were in an offset hour glass design. The room itself was ok. It was clean had a small sitting area outside. Check in took way to long. Waited way to long to get towels. But the part of this review that needs noted is, THE FOOD IS NASTY. We got in late an ate outside at the outside dining option. It is neat to dine with your feet in the sand, The only problem is the food is nasty and the service is bad. Our bill was $100 and is was bad very bad. My wife had some cheese pasta pasta which was gross. I had a cuban sandwich that was the quality of a hot pocket. My daughter had chicken on a stick. The chicken was very chewy. My daughter had either a corndog or a hotdog and she didn't even like that. For the money I would go else where. The grand Plaza has a roof top dining option we wanted to try to look out over the water. We were so scared the food would come out of the same kitchen we opted not to waste our money. The staff was not friendly at all.

Stayed 6 night at this hotel wish I didn't book threw a party were no cancelations we allowed or would b charged full price still cause I would have canceled and went someware else employee were ride treated us like drifters just because we booked there super saver room I seen no point for a balcony when I'm not spending time in the room, it started by getting told we wanted am upgrade because r room was located right over ac units that were very loud so upgraded 20$ a night to a better room, get to room and we r over ac units that r loud could smell all the nasty food from there restaurant and there noisy band that was not good playing loud untell 12.Then we had a very out dated microwave witch ohh well but the fridge was even worse there was one of the feet missing we ended up having to put a peace of cardboard under it to stop it from rocking had a bottle fall out because of the rocking shattered all over asked for someone to come clean glass up it took over 6 hrs for someone to come up had to call three times gave them 2 hrs in-between every call and still nothing untell husband called finaly they came up and cleaned it. The fridge didn't even keep anything cold r cooler was colder then the fridge. Horrible service then checking out I was asked how my stay was I told them it was OK disappointed and then walking out I hear the other guest service lady say those economy room people r u kidding me we spent only 10$ a night less than the cost of the very most expensive room exept for the penthouse!! Never again will I stay there don't like being treated like scum Best Western gives you better cust service then this high dollar place. Halls are very dark dingy and hot no climate control at all.

We stayed there check ins because we added time to our trip b4 we left home wish we would of just stayed at two different hotels or been able to cancel this one longer the stay the worse it is getting on to r last part of the stay and even more stupid things they are doing... Parking assistant is great tho pretty sure his name was Kenny only thing good to say about the stay is he was so great and helpful

The stay started out with checking in getting pushed to upgrade room saying it was because r room would b right above a loud ac unit witch we thought was nice of them at first spend 60$ extra and end up being righ over an account unit anyway that's loud as heck. Then we had a glass bottle brake on floor as for someone to clean it up and it took 5+ hrs for them to actually clean it had to call 3 times even had to have my husband call then it got taken care of. Other than that nice hotel but would not stay at this hotel again unless it was the cheapest place would not spend more than 100$ a night on it.. Can get much better place for same price payed for this one

We were very pleased with our stay. Restaurants were a plus. Rooms clean. Impressed with Bath and Body Works Stress scent shampoo and soap. Love that touch. Also my daughter left a wallet in the drawer with cash in it. We realized it a day later. When I called housekeeping, they had it saves for us and are going to mail it to our house. Very happy. Only downfall.....it got really noisy in the am. It was 8am and we heard the constructions men in side lot banging stuffs in dumpster. And a plumber drilling so loud at 8am. So don't plan on sleeping late.

Nice hotel. Friendly staff. Great location. Needs a fitness center update! Overall great vaca. Will definitely be back soon to grand plaza
