Clean decent Located about 2kms down the highway out of downtown Squamish There’s a popular fast food outlet located nearby We thought given the name , that it was going to be a higher end peaceful mountain retreat. It’s just a motel , clean , decent quiet Pool was closed for maintenance so can’t Make any temperature or pool related comments
We stayed here on the last night of our circle tour. Very pleasant reception. Room was large and well laid out. Rugs and bed could be attended to. After 5 nights in other hotels (this being the most expensive) we were surprised at no type of breakfast not even a pot of coffee were told to use the little pot in our room. There is a restaurant adjoining but is not part of their hotel, perhaps a discounted breakfast could be arranged. This could easily be a great place to stay as it is so easy to find and is really quiet.
Three girls here for a mountain race stayed in a double queen. Very plain, overpriced for a mildly touched-up 80’s Super8. Hallways smell odd. Room was clean, pillows are awful but parking is plenty. Staff is friendly and there’s an auto espresso machine in the lobby. Other than that, there’s nothing much to say. Slightly overpriced for what it is but there wasn’t a lot to choose from. Ask for mountain side so you at least get a view and stay on the top floor so you don’t have to listen to the upstairs neighbours let their kids jump off the bed till 11pm!
The Mountain Retreat in Squamish presents itself with the charm of the 1980s. Since then no major refurbishment seems to have taken place. The positive things: Staff was friendly and efficient, check-in and check-out went smoothly, the room was large enough and the beds fortunately not quite as soft as elsewhere in Canada. On the other hand the swimming-pool and gym were not really enticing. Cleanliness was average. The hotel feels more like a motel. And even though it’s peak season, the price for the night was way to high. Worst value for money in comparison to three other accommodations on our round-trip so far. The hotel is ok for a stopover, but I wouldn‘t really recommend it for a longer stay.
Booked this hotel simply because it was listed as a Best Western Hotel. We were thinking $185.00 for the night a tad expensive, but, figured with the $50 Best Western gift card we had then the cost $135.00 for the night. When we checked in I handed the girl at the counter the gift card, and she informed me they are not a Best Western, so don't accept those cards. Well, perhaps they should make sure they aren't listed on Google as a Best Western. We will not be going back given the false advertising on their behalf.
Despite booking weeks in advance as an Australian visitor, (on their web site) they cancelled booking on the day of arrival. I provided credit card details, received confirmation letter but on arrival hotel was completely booked out AND my booking had been cancelled. As a music festival was being held in the town, rooms were very hard to find. Sandman offered a room to me at $100 discount so cost me $50 more than at Mountain Retreat. Well done Sandman. Mountain retreat didn’t even have enough courtesy to reply to my email. I was NOT the only person experiencing this problem on the day so I found out. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME BOOKING
We appreciate the friendliness of Magali and her staff. We stayed over a month and it felt like home! Love the pool! The restaurant. The super service. Comfortable beds and clean rooms. I enjoy the coffee in lobby and the wonderful people that stay there. Thank you!
How’s this hotel three star is beyond me ! Rooms are dirty and smelly. Entire hotels smells of chlorine. Customer service is non existent. Housekeeping approached us twice in the morning and asked whether we are leaving now so she can clean the room. At that point we felt very unwelcome and we left earlier than planned. On check out receptionist had no interest in finding out how’s our stays. Disappointing experience all round.
I appreciate this is a budget hotel, but they don’t even do the basics of cleanliness properly. Upon arrival, the toilet in our room quite clearly hadn’t been cleaned. There was toilet paper stuck around the edges of the pan and, upon lifting the toilet seat, urine ran down. Disgusting! The rooms are very dated and, in general, not well cleaned. For these reasons, I can’t recommend this hotel.
Very poor experience here. Tried to stay with young family (2 kids). Changed rooms 3 times, all stank like cigarette smoke. While walking down the hallway we smelled fresh cigarette smoke and marijuana. The pool has no shallow end for younger kids, and the hot tub was warm, not hot. When my husband joined us later in the evening, he was bothered by the cigarette smoke as well. We decided we couldn't stay the night and left at 8. We were not given a refund or partial refund. The manager was very rude in emails, accused us of lying, stealing the bath mat and was not professional at all. We expected so much better for the cost of the room.
