The property check in was almost impossible and the check in manager/staff was rude. There was no staff on site when we arrived at 4:00pm. The Guesthouse posted with a note to call any of the 2 phone numbers to reach the staff. It provided a desk top phone to make call. However, the posted phone numbers got a busy line signal all the time or drop calls. No other guest in the building nor we could find any neighbor guest. I even used my cell phone to call the post phone numbers. The line was disconnected after a few rings. After 30-40 minutes. I got a text on my cell phone and directed me to call another phone number which I could reach a staff. The lady who answered the phone was so rude and hung up once she quickly gave me the 2 room numbers and the codes to unlock the doors. I could open one room but I got the wrong code for the second room. I called again. She yelled at me while gave me the code.

Very comfortable. Nice location and easily found. Did lack sufficient cups and silverware for number of guests.

The problem with this place is that there is no one on site and no one paying attention to the building. There was a fire alarm going for hours in the middle of the night and no one able to do anything about it. We called the numbers left at the desk in the front room dozens of times and no one ever answered. It was terrible for dozens of people not to mention potentially dangerous. They seem to be completely neglectful of their responsibilities.

The room was very noisy and the shower really small. All the way it was on a nice location with a big common room! The owners were not there!

Phone to contact someone not connected. a Broken window was not repaired but covered in plastic. The rooms were very cold even with portable heaters. This was not worth the price of admission.

This is self checkin so make sure you have the codes before heading there. When we got there we realized that the heating does not work. We were only given a small electrical heater which was not enough to heat up the room. I tried to call the phone number specified in the lobby from the lobby telephone but no one was answering. I decided to drive to hotel Lambafell in the hope that there was a receptionist there. There was no staff at that location but when I called from their lobby Lina answered the phone. She was pretty rude and she said that if I don't like the conditions she'll give me a full refund but I'll have to find another place to stay. Long story short the maintenance person said that they knew about the heating but they were still booking people for this Guesthouse Edinborg. Lina denied this and she told me that I am lying when I was actually just repeating what the maintenance guy said. She also said she'll send a plumber to fix the heating which was incorrect since she just sent the maintenance guy again to offer another room. We eventually took the other room and we got another heater and a couple of more blankets which were enough to get us through the night.

It could be much better inside. There was no kitchen. But it is situated in the very beautiful place. The towels were dirty (

The room we booked did not have a key in the lock box. There were two staff members on site that quickly put us in an upgraded cabin room that was recently remodeled. It was a nice bonus and much nicer than what we booked. Great stay overall, nice location if you are traveling along the southern coast

I reserved a room for two nights through Orbitz over a month in advance. I received an email a week before my arrival giving me my room number and the codes to get in to the front door and for the room key box. I arrived at the guesthouse around 1:00 p.m. I used the first code to get in the front door and then the second code to open the key box next to room 104. The box opened, but there was no key. I knocked on the door to 104 and a couple from Belgium was inside. They said they had booked the same room for two nights. A phone was at a desk at the entrance of the guesthouse with a number to call for help in checking in. I called over and over, but only got a message stating that they could not answer phone at that time to call back in a few minutes. Eventually, I gave up. The next day I called the number in the afternoon and a woman answered. She said she had my reservation and was not sure who was in my room. I asked for another room, but she said she would have to send someone to meet me at the guesthouse when I got there. I stopped our sightseeing to drive back to the guesthouse, but when I called, I only got the same answering machine. So, I never got in to my room!

A basic room and experience. In a good location when exploring the southern coast but not a place we wanted to linger in. Overall clean and comfortable.

There is no reception, rooms are small, corridor is noisy and you feel like everyone is in the room with you cause there is no isolation of noise. No breakfast included and the room prices are outrageous. The room wasn't that clean. Towel was old and torn. Dont stay here unless this is the last vacant hotel in Iceland. One star at most. Try sleeping some where else.

Welcome Edinborg was quiet, clean, comfortable, good value and easily accessible. Staff were friendly and helpful. A good breakfast was included, but on the second floor up a steep set of stairs. A bonus is the free swim in a thermal pool which is a short drive and some 20 minute walk away. Although the pool's best days are long gone, it is in a beautiful setting and worth a try. The room was a tight fit but provides a good sleep.

The location was very remote, which increased the possibility of being able to catch the northern lights. Very cozy lodging, sweet staff, clean enviroment, and perfect for travellers doing a self tour. This was our second time in Iceland and we wanted to get away from the city and this hotel made it possible. Very close location to Sulkgarfoss and Vik. Great Price!!

Hotel Edinborg has actually shut down, but I will write about the alternative down the road that our reservations took us to: Hotel Lambafell. Complete with a hot tub and in-room TV, Hotel Lambafell was an excellent alternative! My husband and I loved being surrounded by the Eyjafjöll Mountains. If the weather is nice, there is so much to explore in the area. We would stay here again.

Very pleasant stay. The view of the glacier cap from our room was just amazing. Perfect location if your looking to break up the drive out to Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon. Almost right in between Reykjavik and the lagoon. With easy quick drives to many other acttractions along RT 1.
