Living in Sohar for 2,5 years, we knew this hotel already. After being retired we left for Europe, but now, after 6 years, we went back to Oman for a holiday. We booked this hotel again and were not disappointed! Amthias and Ali, both working at the swimming pool, immediately recognised us which was very nice. We must say that the guy behind the reception was not that friendly, but later on he mellowed. The rooms in this hotel are big, clean and the beds are very comfortable. Breakfast is good too. We did not have dinner this time. We had some snacks at the poolbar. The swimmingpool is fantastic, also for the children. You can go to the ( public) beach directly from the hotels's garden. But it is more fun to stay at the poolside. We absolutely can recommend this hotel. The atmosphere is very nice and also for families with children, it is great.

Stayed in the new block (opposite the tennis courts) for one night as a solo traveller. The room was really excellent, huge with a huge bed and all the mod cons. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and I had a lovely view of the beach (no balcony). The staff at reception were very welcoming and the hotel itself I thought was quite grand, albeit quiet. WiFi was ok, not good enough for a voice call but otherwise did the job. The food in the restaurant was good - I had lunch here as there’s not a lot of other options around the location. The food was s little pricey but very good quality. I walked to another nearby hotel for dinner so can’t comment on main meals, but the fajitas were excellent. Service at the pool bar was good with a good selection of drinks. Overall I was quite impressed with the place.

We were 2 families with young children. We booked the Chalet which is the biggest room available and directly on the beach and very close to the pool. The chalet size is great. It has a big terrace where we had our lunch and other meals. There is big living room, a bedroom, a dressing room, a kitchen ( no oven or microwave) ie u cannot cook hot meals. There was also a big bathroom and a small toilet. We were 4 adults and 3 children around 6 years old. The hotel threw in 4 mattresses which were more than enough with the double bed available in the room. Had a lot of decent space to use for the 7 of us and it could have fitted a bigger family. The beach is not great, but is ok. There are no facilities as it’s a public beach. You have to exit the hotel backside gate and you will be like 100 meters from the water. The pool is big and deep. You will have fun there. There is a separate kids pool which is also very nice for the young. The hotel staff we met were very friendly including Mr. Harirth at the front desk, the house keeping, restaurant, all of them were eager to help when approached, but there was an obvious shortage of staff available. The house keeping had only 1 staff during our 3 days stay. The restaurant as well only 1 person visible to us through the whole stay. When I asked about it, someone told me, it’s the weekend and staff are on leave! The food quality at the breakfast was not below average: quality, variety and all. We weren’t encouraged to try lunch or dinner at the only restaurant available , based on our breakfast experience. Otherwise the hotel is fun and a pleasant total experience. The area around the hotel is very basic and quiet which was a change for us and I enjoyed mingling with some locals at night around the mishakeek (grills) stalls, the park, fish market.

There is nothing much to see in Sohar...but the hotel was great. The pool is gorgeous and the rooms are very nice. We had ocean view, which was beautiful. Go to the fish market in the morning! The guy at the front desk wasn’t too nice but overall our experience was good.

Probably a first hotel in Oman or world entertaining customers by parking JEEP in swimming Pool! Management must think before doing such about their guests. Staff mentioned it's a First Ever JEEP show in Oman which was really funny to hear.

I recently had the great fortune to stay at the Sohar Beach Hotel while traveling along the coast of Oman. It was an excellent find with a wonderful local staff who could not of been kinder and more helpful and more gracious in their treatment of their guests. The food was excellent and could not have been matched anywhere in this ancient Omani Port city. The hotels rooms were traditional and added to the wonderful ambience of this part of Oman. There is also a large pool right on the beach. All-around this was one of the great Omani experiences. I loved every facet of it

Good experience, the hotel is a bit old, but is very clean and the employees very nice. Service very good in restaurante! Good food and quality. Price a bit expensive but in general the experience is was very nice!

We stayed there for 2 nights during June 2017 in a road trip from dubai , the place is peaceful , large swimming pool , the ocean view from the room is amazing and quite specially at night , the hotel has a small basketball court which was fun , reception were professional and housekeeping were professional as well , breakfast was not wow but it was ok , price is relatively acceptable comparing to other hotels which is a point to consider , over all rating is good for me . We booked to stay for the Eid weekend. Little did we know that this would mean most of the facilities would be shut. Only 1 restaurant, no bar as alcohol not to be served over the Eid holiday. Website is misleading - we expected a balcony but didn't get one. We booked a room with 2 double beds and got a room with 2 single beds. The location is lovely, right on the beach. Sadly, the beach was strewn with carcasses and guts of sheep and goats after the Eid celebrations. The pool was lovely and the water temperature perfect. However, some guests were getting in fully clothed and swimming around - quite put me off due to hygiene considerations. Perhaps a 'suitable swimming attire only' sign would be advisable. Staff friendly and welcoming, though very few of them around. This place has definitely seen better days. Me and my friend commented that it could be wonderful if a few pennies were thrown at it and it were brought up to the expectations one would have of a beach front hotel - the Radisson Blu, next door, puts it to shame Having said that, if you want peace and quiet at a very affordable price, this is the place to go

So sad to see this great place in a wonderful location be let go... It used to have such a vibe and now it seems to just tick over. The new restaurant with a terrace on the sea, opened 2 years back, shut down, empty; the old restaurant in the main building revamped but soul less. The menu unchanged for a few years and the quality of some of the dishes has gone downhill, staff looking sad, huge absence of management ....
