Stayed there 4d/3n and took their full board package. I love this place because it is quiet and give u privacy. Did 1 day dive but nothing much to see underwater. Visibility poor. The beach itself is normal and i think Redang Island is nicer. Also, watch out for the sand fly, its everywhere and i got bitten few times and is super itchy. The island itself is very quiet and is small. Overall, the staff at the hotel is friendly and food is nice. Boat schedule is on time.
We attended a wedding at this resort . I had read previous reviews. Yes, the resort is a little tired, the tapware has corroded, there are a few ants but we loved our stay. It was very comfortable, the staff exceptional. Loved the Malaysian food - curries SO good. We went snorkelling- the boat took us to another island - lots of colourful fish. It was well supervised. The wedding was beautiful. Staff did an amazing job of the flowers
Boat transfer to the resort was not a good start when the boats did not arrive in time to pick us up from the ferry port. There are 21 of us, we left in two boats, with one big boat accommodating 13 and the other small boat accommodating 8 of us. Mr Steven who is manager of the resort failed to arrange our boat transfer AGAIN upon checking out. We were asked to leave the resort in two separate groups, one boat after another, due to his reluctance to hire another boat. (RM200 saved for him, but extra 40min of waiting time for us!) This would be our first and last visit here.
I honestly like Sibu, the beach is still clean and the waters are still clear and pretty unlike Langkawi. The unfortunate factor is that maintenance of a place with such great resort potential wasnt a priority. Staff were warm and welcoming, no complaints there. However the bathroom water smelled and tasted of rust. Thank god for the two large mineral water bottles set in the room for us to brush our teeth and wash our faces. Be careful if you choose hilltop rooms cause on your way back to the room at night, the paths are poorly lit and you don't want to end up with an accident of falling down the hill during a vacation. Also, be careful with food in the room as we had an unnecessary visitor of red ants in the room. When we arrived lunch was no longer served or prepared so you have to take into consideration the time meals are prepared (breakfast 7-9am, dinner 7.30-9pm). If you dont want to end up spending unnecessarily on fried rice (especially since there are no nearby cheap Mamak or restaurants available), bringing meals you can prepare with hot water would be a good idea. there is a shop near reception, but then again why would anyone pay 24 bucks for cigarettes? The gym is still under construction, forget about a quick workout. Your best option is running on the beach. Also the private beach makes for pretty Instagram photos but not to hang out and tan as there are sandflies and the rocks are slippery Nice place yea but do something to maintain this!!
A warm welcome and a friendly treatment by their staffs make us feel like home... My special thanks to the Accountant (Mr.Kumar) who really worked hard on my sudden Birthday party plan request.. He manage to arrange cake & kfc (though its very hard to arrange it in such a 'isolated' island). Accepting my request, He and his team gave midnight surprise to my hubby which make us feel so happy...Apart that , Snorkeling and swimming was cool activities .. Generally its a nice place to take a good rest without much activities.. food need to be improved....
My boyfriend and I stayed for 1 night from 26 to 27 August 2017. Upon arriving at Sibu Island, we were warmly greeted by the hotel staff. At the reception, we were attended to by the hotel staff promptly and a welcome drink was served to us. We were briefed on the details of our stay and were told that our hillside room was ready. On the way to our room, we were told that the room was not ready and we had to wait for about 15 minutes for it. We decided to explore the facilities of the resort while waiting for our room to be ready. The exterior of the rooms were fairly maintained apart from dirty folded beds and carpets which we saw outside some of the rooms. We are not sure if they were left there for use or because there are no other places to put them. We noticed that there is no spa services even though the name of the resort is "Sari Pacifica Hotel, Resort & Spa Sibu Island". When our room was ready, we were directed to our hill side room. As the name suggested, we had to walk up a slight slope to the location of our room. As we walked along the pathway, it was difficult for us to tell which was ours as some villas did not indicate the room number. It seemed as though the room number plate has fallen off but efforts were not made to replace them. . It took us some time to locate our room and we saw dirty folded bed and folded carpet outside our room. We opened the door and realized that the air-con was leaking which left a puddle of water on the floor. The taps were rusty and the water tasted "funny". It did tasted like rust and slightly sedimented. the bedsheets and pillow cases were stained (we are not sure if they were changed at all). There were ants on the floor. There is no telephone in the room for us to feedback all of the above. I wonder if it is a norm for a supposedly luxury hotel to not have a telephone at all? We left the room and headed back to the reception to feedback to the staff. We were given a free upgrade to beachfront villa. The room was better however, we note that the tap was rusty and the water still tasted funny. the wifi did not work at all throughout our stay. it was only at the reception when we could access to the wifi. For the rest of the day we played volleyball, swam at the pool and enjoyed our time at the beach. the beach was clean and sand was soft. Upon check out, we were told to pay for our beachfront room upgrade and for lunch and dinner (we did not have dinner). We felt that the staff could have checked if the bill was accurate before presenting to us to avoid unnecessary stress to us. It is funny how the same staff who told us that our room will be upgraded at no cost could ask us to pay for the upgrade. All in all, we appreciate that the staff were sincere and tried their best to rectify problems when they detected it. The resort is nested on a nice beach with an amazing view of the sea and mountain. What's lacking is proper management. All staff do need to go proper training and re-training on how to manage the business.
The beach is great, the food is not. The room is big but the walls are thin and you can everything from the room next door. Management is not on top of things billing wise. Check-out took ages because they didn't find the rate they agreed on by email.
Place is sorrrrely lacking in overall maintenance. Throughout our stay, we changed rooms thrice in 2 days! Some of the sad facilities' issues: a) buildings were either cracked or worn, rust on anything metallic, pathways uneven; b) plumbing is atrocious, with funny tasting water, rusty taps & water tanks; c) dripping aircon; d) faulty fridges that try their darnedest to keep your beverages cold; e) lights that usually don't feel like working; f) non existent wifi & poor network coverage; g) power trips possibly once a day; h) room safes that may or may not be available in all rooms, & notwithstanding if the batteries are in working condition; i) food is not that fresh and lacks variety; j) cable tv is limited; k) not much to keep people entertained; literally have to rely on the resort for your daily meals; l) no gym as it's still undergoing renovation; m) lotsa flies & sandflies. Staff are all sweet & friendly, not much they can do for guests owing to the poorly maintained resort. The sandflies are really deadly as their bites can result in very itchy swollen bumps that take days to subside. Pathetic part: the resort doesn't have medicine to deal with your bites. It was a very, very disappointing & sorry state the resort is in. Take your money elsewhere and avoid at all costs!! Will NOT go back again...
A comfortable resort where we slept well and enjoyed a clean, quiet beach with loungers and shade. Despite the name, there is no spa and you need to walk quite a bit from the jetty to the lobby (worth noting if you are not fully fit or have a young child). Despite notifying the management by email, phone and Whatsapp that we had some vegetarians in our group, the chef was not informed. Once he knew he made an effort, but it ruined our first meal. The return ferry was overcrowded above the safety capacity, so I would advise that you confirm with as many of the managers as possible how many of you are checking out and do not let them force you or your baggage on an unsafe vessel. We regret not standing our ground and getting off. Also, check your bills. It took three attempts for them to get it correct.
The place lacks maintence. Even the basic toilet broke down. If not for the comfortable bed, it will get only one star. Looks impressive outside but rotten in the inside. If you want to have a feel of what's it like to be a "survivor" come here. You will be the one to vote yourself out.
