My husband and I were initially set to sail out on a Carnival cruise from Aug 26th-Aug 31st however due to Hurricane Harvey, we were not able to. So at the last minute, we decided to visit Shreveport and booked a reservation at your location on 201 Lake St in Shreveport, LA from Aug 27th-Aug 30th (via booking.com) The rate was the first thing that caught my eye when booking because it was surprisedly very low. I normally thoroughly research hotels by checking the reviews from previous visitors, the hotel ratings, the pictures and lastly the prices however given the last minutes circumstances, time did not allow. Upon arrival, I was shocked to see what I thought would be a very nice hotel, based on the pictures that were online! However, I figured it had to be MUCH nicer on the inside. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. We checked in and was assigned room 204. Upon entering the room, again, I was disappointed on how old and sort of smelly the room was. The room was ice cold from the A/C unit I assume had been running all day. We were so in shock at how awful the room looked so we decided to leave and just go grab something to eat. Once we returned, we settled in. I turned the bedsheets back to make sure the sheets were at least clean and low and behold...bugs!!! I just yelled, "YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING!!!" So I called the front desk and told the young lady there were bugs crawling in the bed and asked if someone could come to the room to see for themselves (and I do have video that I can certainly forward to your corporate office if needed). The young lady said she would just go ahead and switch our room out. So my husband and I had to pack up the few things that we had already pulled out of our suitcases and head downstairs. The young lady at the front desk apologized and said she would go ahead and move us to a suite for our troubles. Initially, we were going to take the lost and just leave the hotel and find another one, no matter what the rate was however the front desk clerk was very nice and professional and was VERY apologetic so we decided to go ahead and stay. We were then assigned to room 210. Upon entering this room, at first glance, it look decent. The room was freezing cold so my husband and I attempted to turn the unit off however the buttons did not work! We had to literally unplug the unit in order to shut it off completely. There was a second unit in the other part of the suite and the buttons were stripped on it, but we did manage to get that one turned down. At this point, I was about to blow my top because I was so disappointed with the hotel. We sat in the room for about 5 minutes, trying to decide if we were just going to leave. The cracks in the wall looked like the room was dry-rotting away. The walls looked as though an unprofessional dry wall repairer did a half job and the window seal looked like it would fall out at any second. And to add insult to injury, the bathtub had a hole next to the drain and I thought a huge bug or spider would crawl through there at any moment. At this time, my husband and I left! We had had enough! We didn't check out or anything, we just left! We decided to get in our car and just drive around town to let off some steam! We ended up spending the night at a friends house however they were headed out of town the next day so we decided to go back to the hotel and stay the remaining nights there for the duration of our visit and try to make the best of things. The only thing we did do was shower, sleep and get up the next day and leave after eating breakfast downstairs. We did not enjoy our suite at all! It was a total waste of our time and we will never stay at this location again. I will say that the lady who moved us to the suite was VERY nice and pleasant. I do not have one complaint against her as I'm sure she did everything within her power to make it right! And also, Gabby who works in the kitchen area was VERY nice as well and recommended some good eating places to visit around town. But your hotel is horrible! The pictures you have online are very deceiving and do not represent the "real" Chateau Suites in Shreveport, LA. I'm sorry, but I would never recommend this location to any of my family or friends. I usually do not complain on a company because I know you cannot satisfy everyone, but this was the absolute worst I've ever seen and experienced. My thought/opinion, demolish it and just start over!!! Respectfully, Will never visit again! The Harris Family
Got this hotel at the last minute as I was approaching Shrevport. I thought that it might be ok. I was disappointed. It was a place to lay your head down but that is about it. Hotel is older and needs TLC. Breakfast was COLD. Cold eggs, cold sausage, cold coffee, and the orange juice had to be watered down. The selection was great for breakfast, but not good quality.
The Chateau Suites Hotel is located just a block off of I-20 and centrally located to six of the seven Shreveport/Bossier City casinos. I enjoy trying out different hotels/motels when I visit "the boats" six to eight times a year and make my reservations mainly by location and price since I hate to waste money just to sleep for a little while. That was the reason for trying out the Chateau Suites on my most recent visit - location and price. Overall, my stay at the Chateau Suites wasn't bad, especially based on the varied ratings of previous Trip Advisor visitors. There were quite a few negatives about the place, but also some things that I liked. My room was very clean, spacious, comfortable, and nice, even though it could have used some up-dating. The A/C was very loud, but worked great and the bathroom was clean with a very good shower. The room had a comfortable sitting area, a small microwave, and a TV that was ok with a remote control that wasn't. There was a small coffee maker which wasn't cleaned out (the old filter still in) from the last time it was used. Not good! My main complaint was trying to locate a working ice machine. I had a room on the 3rd floor with an "out of order" sign on that ice machine. I walked up to the 4th and 5th floor. Not work- ing. Finally, on the 2nd floor I found one that worked. After checking-in, I had a problem getting to my room since the elevator didn't work right and I had to get help from the desk staff. Still, I was afraid I was going to get stuck. She said they had problems with it sometimes since the hotel was "probably built" in the '50s. My guess is that was the last time the elevator had been serviced. The hotel has a free breakfast, but not being an early riser and do not get-up to eat a morning meal, I can't say what is served or if it's any good or not. The hallways were clean, but could definitely use more light, not only for safety reasons, but to make the place more inviting. As I've previously stated, the Chateau Suites wasn't bad overall, but my advise to others considering a visit is to take the stairs to and from you room and bring your own ice.
First off this place has two separate buildings. Our family asked to be on the same floor and was told it wasn't a problem. When we got there part of the family stayed in main building and the others went to annex building. Now we in the rooms and they are crap! Old old! The bathroom in the room in the annex building was deplorable. It leaked and water got every where. The room in the main building was musty. The bathroom was fine. The sofa bed had no linens on it and when the front desk was called they said they had none. They also said they had no towels! How the heck does a hotel run out of towels! It wasn't till 10am that I finally got towels. Also they ran out of toilet paper as well, I was like MF what the hell kinda ratchet place is this. Don't bother! Do yourself a solid and check into the holiday inn across the street!
We have been staying at this hotel for around 20 years. It was once a great place to stay, wonderful location, especially for the Red River Revel, and the shuttle service was awesome. Kevin always had a restaurant recommendation, or a music club... anyway, they have apparently given up on trying to run a decent business. The place was filthy, not dirty, but unsanitary. There were people in the parking lot that looked like they were conducting business transactions. We had taken two granddaughters to visit the Sci-Port museum, and had planned a diner out. My wife and I decided it would probably not be a good idea to stay after dark, and drove back home. I asked for a refund, as we were not in the room but 30 minutes, and was met with a blank stare, so we just packed up and left. Specific issues, other than a strong unsafe feeling, included nonworking television, hole in the sheet rock wall, mismatched furniture cushions, broken kitchenette fixtures, thick mold in toilet, smell of urine in the elevator, sticky everything... we never pulled the sheets down on the bed. My advice would be to drive on by and sleep in your car if you have to.
Spent about three day on a Ladies weekend trip. The beds were nice and comfortable. The rooms did show so wear and needed to be updated. The staff was nice and helpful. Used the shuttle service to go across the bridge and shop at the outdoor shopping strip on the river. The driver looked after us and came right back to pick us up after we called. Only had to wait about 5 minutes.
I agree with you completely. Me and my wife stayed there for many years until it started going down hill. it is a beautiful hotel and could be great again with some major upkeep. the staff was always very courteous and helpful but they could only do so much. i'm anxiously waiting till someone else takes it over and restores it to a hotel like it used to be.
This hotel was the worst place I have ever stayed and if I had any other options, I would have left! I paid $177 for two nights and it was the worst money ever spent. Dirty, disgusting and run down. My mattress was stained with urine, the shower was filthy and so on and so on. I have attached pictures. Please, do not stay there,,,,,ever!
It could be great. Charming lobby. Quaint features...but it's clearly going to ruin. I wouldnt be surprised if a sale or bankruptcy is imminent and owner is refusing to do any upkeep . Im not one to post pics if every stain and crack but Ice machines don't work. Pool is "closed" meaning nobody is cleaning it. Laundry facilities are non-existent. Business center has no computers. The bed is comfy. The fridge works. Microwave and big tv. And to be fair, I paid $40. If management had their act together it would be $200 easy. I also noticed in other reviews the manager seems to respond more quickly to positive reviews. Maybe he's also just treading water til they pull the plug. He cant be much interested in the reputation of his hotel. This would be a great Hotel Rescue candidate.
The lobby really shows off how grand this hotel used to be. It is a little worn, but the management does a good job of keeping it up. We had a giant suite with kitchen. I found the room clean and comfortable enough for me. If you are a clean freak or like everything new, spend a lot more and stay somewhere else. The breakfast was fine.
