I use Hollins Hall whenever I come to Leeds. Great hotel, but the rooms are starting to look a little dated compared to its days as a Marriott.
I don't really like ordering food at the bar. I'd rather have table service. I tip for table service, but not when I have to do it myself. Restaurant staff, I guess trying to be "professional", was gruff and unfriendly. The young girls are pretty, but need better training for the job at hand. Or get more experienced staff. Check-in and front desk was very good, though. Only one towel?! really? Breakfast buffet (on the day when we were there at that time) was excellent. Other day, we had to leave for an early flight and sadly could not partake.
The grounds are beautiful! We had a scenic walk on the golf course in the evening and lunch out on the veranda of the Grill restaurant, with the breeze tossing the trees around. Check-in was nice and efficient. Our room was upgraded on arrival and it also had a nice view. There was a large bathtub in the room with plenty of hot water. We stayed here to have close access to the airport in the morning. The only thing that I would change is the service in the hotel restaurant was slow.
This is my go to hotel when visiting Leeds. Large rooms (for the UK), great showers in the bathroom, good facilities, reasonable food. The up keep of the leisure club seems to dropped since it switched from being a Marriott.
