++ Large private villas Good food and awesome location (Best time to visit is during the monsoon season) -- Access road is not that good and too narrow Have to pay for wifi, and the mobile network is poor (Perhaps, it's meant to be that way. It s place to relax and not browse)
We planned this trip quite spontaneously but I went back and forth talking to the people at the hotel and also checking reviews and photos on the internet. I was convinced it was going to be good. Prashant who works at the hotel, helped me through my booking process. We had complimentary activities, high tea and spa treatments thanks to them. We booked a king spa villa and I suggest you do the same because it is completely worth it. We were only there for a night's stay. We went to the mountain bar and bistro for lunch, the green house cafe for high tea and terazzo for dinner. All of them were amazing. The spa treatment was so magical and incredibly relaxing. The staff was extremely helpful and kind. You have t call cars to go anywhere outside the hotel because it's spread out over 320 acres. But that's what adds to the beauty of it. They even had a doctor on call, because someone with me fell sick. They were extremely gracious and helpful. If you're planning a weekend getaway or just a regular week day holiday, this place is perfect. We stumbled upon a hidden gem.
The property built on 320 acres is one of a huge one away from all the hustles and bustles of a city to catch a quick vacation. Though said that the property seems to be overly priced as compared to any other five star properties I have been around with poor maintenance nothing compared to what they have put up on the site. Claiming to be five star with 3 star amenities, not much of a choice in the buffet either they served. This one's definitely not wheelchair or stroller friendly. After charging a grand of 40k for two nights bar all the service charges per night the wireless is chargeable!!! with smelling washrooms. The housekeeping was also not up to the mark with limited toiletries which was only replenished at housekeepers mercy!!!! The SPA is over too costly with a facial costing nothing less than 7 to 8k!!! And to add to all this the final bill was wrongly shuffled with uncalled internet usage/ and food consumption for which we were not even part of. The person handling the bills was more than adamant to consider his mistake. The good thing was the ever smiling face of all the in-house stuff.
Simply wrong people handling the property and Hilton brand, needs a change and refresh of attitude of the staff. The property is in a great location but the service is very poor so imagine being stuck in this large property with service staff who don't really care, it's really frustrating Simply wrong people handling the property and Hilton brand, needs a change and refresh of attitude of the staff. We took a flight at 6.25 am morning from Jaipur and reached Mumbai at 8.30. Took a cab and drive down to Hilton shilim assuming that we will have a weekend MEMORIES for the lifetime. On the contrary, THE WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFETIME" , WE FACED. This property is not worth visiting just because of incapability and inefficient staff. Totally untrained staff specially Mr. SARABJEET at front desk who was the worst person I've ever met. Consider twice before wasting your hard earned money on Hilton shilim.
We were in Lonavala for some other purpose, and checked in only for a night to experience the rave reviews we heard from our friends. Location, theme, design - excellent Food - Very nice. Service - Very good Villas - rooms are good and view is just superb. Now for the bad (and sad) part: 1. We stayed in the twin villa for one night and the AC (or something in the ceiling) was making a screeching noise every 15-20 mins. I couldn't sleep all night. 2. Our villa had 2 showers. One indoor and one outdoor. - Indoor one was stinking like hell (when used) and water clogged. We DON'T EXPECT THIS FROM A 5 STAR property. - Outdoor shower was dirty and muddy. I realise the shower is outdoor and tend to get some dust, etc, but the shower tiles and the area seemed like wasn't clean't for weeks. 3. A tile was half broken and coming off from the bath tub, from the outside wall of the tub. Again, don't expect such eye-sores from a 5 star property. May be its just bad luck and we got a bad villa, but overall looks like the property is getting old and they are having a hard time maintaining the standards. I will think twice before I go there again.
Hilton Shillim is about an hour from the Lonavla exit on the expressway.. spread over a very vast area ... one can cycle around .. or take the small car shuttle provided by the resort to move around the property . The Villa's with pool are very good and worth trying .. though the maintenance of the pool is not up to the mark .. many tiles on the floor are coming off .. Many treks available .. the shillim peak trek is one that is recommended . This place will be mystical during rains . The Food is very expensive .. The buffet is around Rs. 2000/- per person .. so if family of two are staying .. add Rs. 8000/- per day to the tariff .. The staff is very friendly .. overall worth staying .. not sure if it is worth the price ..
We were there for a business meeting few days back and it's just s superb property nestled in the middle of mother nature . Let's start with the drive to the place. It's in the middle of no where so the drive is a bit long and hilly with very small (I mean really small ) road. Buses can go but prefer a small car. If you have motion sickness (like I do) take appropriate care . Once you reach there it's absolutely beautiful. The staff is very courteous, checkin is smooth. They have tata nano to go from one place to the other as it's a huge property at the top of hill. Be patient as sometimes it may take 10-15 mins for the car to come. Rooms (actually villas) are nice . Mine had a balcony overlooking the cloud ridden hill. Has a big bathtub and open air shower so nice room with all the amenities . Has wifi (paid) and TV so its not like Machan where you are literally cut off from the world. Some villas have swimming pool as well. Food is nice , good choice of restaurants . Breakfast was nice with a very nice spread and service . The place has a lots of activties to do especially related to nature. You can go on various trails , walks, treks. They also have a kids room, swimming pool, spa, yoga and meditation center and some sports facilities too. Good place to go on a short holiday with family or corporate offsites !!!!!
Pros: 1. The property is great! Gives the much-needed privacy and isolation. Nature in abundance. 2. Villas are fantastic and spacious. What's missing is: 1. Located in far interior - Takes forever to reach and bad roads leave you exhausted by the time you reach the property 2. Very average service - possibly that of a 3-star hotel - a limited staff which moves around confused when the property is completely full - very limited room service as they try to ask you to come to the reception and pick up things that you might need. 3. Average food - Again the spread of a 3 star. The dinner buffet is costlier and had a more limited spread than the free breakfast. Food tastes pretty average and nothing stands out. 4. Within hotel transport using Nano cars is not such a great idea - too cramped 5. Guests - this could just be coz of our bad luck - but while we were at the property a lot of hotel guests were super loud, picking food from the buffet using their fingers and also putting food back into the buffet - so a big turn off 6. Connectivity - Phone signals a pretty bad and JIO doesn't work - to take advantage of this the hotel doesn't provide free wifi and even the paid version is atleast 650/1000 per day Overall - Unsatisfactory Needs a lot of improvement It's like a 3-star business hotel in a 5-star property.
I would like to write to you about my horrid experience at Hilton Shillion a. Check In on day 1 – Was made to wait cause supposedly they did not have the booking on my name. When in actual I did the booking, I made the payments and I have been coordinating the trip. b. Valley view villa was the room that we had asked for. We were supposedly given an UPGRADE to the Spa Villa which was absolutely nothing that I had imagined. We were on ground level overlooking DEAD Grass. The duty Manager - Omprakash told me that all the valley view villas were sold out and they were unable to even let us see those rooms c. Mosquitoes In the Room – I have never visited a 5 star property where I had to deal with mosquitoes the entire night long d. SPA experience – This was the worst part which I even communicated to the person at the Front Desk. The ladies landed up interchanging the treatment and gave my husband the Balinese massage and me the Swediesh massage and when I asked her what was the massage that she gave me called, she said “what you asked for madam”. She wasn’t even aware of what massage she gave me!! and the Hotel doesn't seem to reimburse this amount as well e. WIFI – Who pays for WIFI in the room after paying 15K for that room!!! Please note: I hope you and the team make note of all the above points. As a client who paid half a lakh on a horrid experience I would definitely have expected a way better experience! This review is also for the travel partner - Voyage Vacations who did the bookings for us! Horribly managed!
