This is a very good hotel in an isolated part of Shanghai. The hotel is very new with very good facilities. The room are large with all you will require. The room we had had a great view over the lake area. The breakfast are is also very good with a good variety of western food. The problem arose when dinner was not provided on the tour as there is not good restaurants in the area. We ending up having KFC from across the road. There is a restaurants in the hotel but as usual is expensive. Good place to stay if on tour and not looking fore public transport.
clean comfortable rooms, good linen and bed. v.average internet speed. the area - beside park nearby, is very boring, lot of building work near, and a taxi trip to anywhere. other reviews say close subway - ?? not true.the ironically named joy centre next door which features a centre courtyard of just concrete, is half closed. The breakfast here is just average.staff nice. But that is about it. as usual in China, (ITALY the worse!) door people very slow to help with bags.
The Guoman is an excellent choice for business travelers in terms of comfort, room decor, amenities, dining (especially breakfast) and service. I've stayed at the Guoman for the past five years for a week to ten days at a time. The staff are friendly, there are three restaurants from which to choose and a comfortable bar. The fitness facility has state of the art TechnoGym equipment, the spa is great and overall a great choice for a business hotel. Being in Putuo, this hotel is not perfectly convenient for sightseeing but the Chengfeng Park is just across the street and really charming.
This hotel is a small, somewhat new hotel with a good breakfast bar and good rooms. The rooms are somewhat small, but the view is very good. The light switch is confusing though. The cot beds are rock hard however.
Nice enough hotel, but whoever furnished the room did a very poor job. Why would you not have any towel rails in the bathroom? Only one chair in the room, and if you leant back, it was not stable. There was no suitcase stand or anywhere to put your suitcases. We had three suitcases on the floor. Lighting using the room switches was totally confusing. We are seasoned travellers and familiar with hotel lighting. Except this hotel. Ample breakfast. We stayed in Room 0603.
Stayed at the Guoman Hotel for 2 nights. It looks everything could be perfect but there are some missing bits. The building and the rooms themselves are good enough. It does not get old properly. The staff is overall ignoring the customers whatever it is at the arrival, at the reception, in the reception. If you have the choices, you have beside better standard hotels.
The rooms are well equipped, well working showers and comfortable beds. The buffet breakfast has a good selection of foods. The location is not very convenient but good enough for our purpose during our stay in Shanghai
Lived here for a couple of days during a conference. Had a suite on the 24:th floor. The room was excellent with everything you need. The breakfast was OK with mix of food from different regions. The language barrier was huge and most personal had a terrible English and misunderstandings were common. The hotel is not close to the metro which is a drawback.
We are here for a big convention (4000 people ). This is one of two big hotels close by .( other JW Marriott more upscale ). This is a hotel run by the Chinses ( not western franchise ) . We did not stay here , but many of my friends did and they like the room and service . I came here for two dinner , one time at Yin Chu Xuan , a Cantonese restaurent , 12 of us had a private room , excellent food and service . Typical Hong Kong style food. ( a trend here at hotels in Shanghai ) The banquet for 150 was held at the big hall, well decorated , with stunning audiovisual presentations and live music / Kung fu performances . The service and food was outstanding despite a big banquet . I usually prefers western run hotel in China , this one may be an exception , I may give a try the next time .
This hotel was away from all the lights, bells and whistles of tourist Shanghai. It was quiet, yet has the supporting surrounds such as KFC, and a small supermarket as seen in most Chinese cities. Opulent entry, bell boys, some staff spoke English well. The rooms were well appointed, linens crisp and white and felt fabulous after a day of sightseeing. Shower in a bath was ok, but could have done with a cord for hanging washing of undies instead of trying to hang over the shower rail. Found out after three nights of stifling heat, that one had to request the windows be unlocked to allow a breeze into the room. Free wifi and good choices of tea and coffee in the room. The restaurant served a plentiful, wide variety of dishes for breakfast. Excellent service by attentive staff. Not right in the heart of the city but so good I would stay there again.
