Grand Hyatt Shanghai5.0 out of 5.0

The hotel is well located and very convenient for people coming to Shanghai for business meeting in the financial area. There are many options for business lunch and dinner nearby. The room condition is good. The only problem was the air circulation, the room was stuffy and too warm even when I adjusted the temperature to the lowest of 17C. It was 18C outside in the afternoon on the day I stayed.
The hotel located close to both river and the pearl tower which is nice for a walk after a intercontinental flight. If you like tall buildings this is perfect and next 2nd tallest building in world. The hotel it self was very much like this business class hotel are
I’d stayed in the Grand Hyatt Shanghai several times a few years ago. I was dismayed to find that the hotel’s age is beginning to show - furnishings in the bathroom looked worn out or wasn’t working well and the room didn’t seem very clean. Breakfast was also rather dismal for me. Given the small size of the restaurant, the breakfast crowd was a little overwhelming and food quality wasn’t great. Dinner was much better for me. For the price, I think there are other hotels that can provide a better stay.
This time in Shanghai Grand Hyatt Hotel was still feel good, but many people stay at the same time, we were to be diverted to the next floor waiting. Although hotel provided refreshments, and we still felt a bit inconvenient. It could not help but it was a good schedule. Grand Hyatt Hotel had been building for a period of time, while in front of the building blocked a part of our hotel. We assigned the room could see a bay scenery and we were well satisfied. The hotel room was still well maintained as well as we lived very comfortable. We had lunch at buffet, although a lot of people, but not noisy. The restaurant could see the Oriental Pearl TV Tower in Shanghai. As hotel provided many types of food, such as fresh Geoduck and abalone. The food was good taste, but no fruit juice provided. It led me very disappointed. Although the price is a little high, the total is worth.
The rooms and the building is wonderful with amazing views, the customer service however is non existent & the staff let down this wonderful brand. On arrival at the hotel, the concierge on the ground floor did not help with bags or directions and stared at us disaprovingly as we tried to find our way. Once we got to the 54th floor where the lobby is, we were hearded into a long line of guests waiting to check in. It was 3.30pm and we waited a further 20 minutes in line before anyone spoke to us. The front desk staff were by far the worst, they were unfriendly and rude. They then told us the rooms were not ready and there would be another 40minute delay. I dont mind delays, it happens but the way the staff delivered this information was unacceptable and we were hurried up and waved away as if we were inconveniencing them. The lobby was packed with no where to sit, we asked where we can sit as there was no spare seats, this also seemed to annoy the staff. We were put in the lift to the club lounge with no explanation as to where we were going, again no staff service at all in the club lounge. Not one member of staff came to speak with any of us until the lady came with our keys over 1 hour later. She offered no apology or thank you for waiting, she handed us the key & walked away. Again no direction was offered, Nothing. It still didnt end there, on arrival at the rooms our bags had still not made it. After waiting patiently we went in search of them ourselves. This place has much work to be done on the level of services they provide and the personalisation and attention that is supposed to be the Grand Hyatt experience. Whoever is responding to the all the bad service reviews on here probably needs to stop pasting the same reply message into every single one, it makes it even more obvious the hotel does not care about customer service.
If you ever need a power adapter to convert from US to Chinese power plug, then you will need to place a 100 RMB deposit to get the adapter, even if it's only for usage during your time at the Grand Club. The wonderful staff at Grand Club, such as Cynthia, will let you know that they are not the most friendly or accommodating of folks.
The view the view the view! This hotel gives you the view of Shanghai you dream of. Stayed in room 6818 which over looked the river, the pearl and the city. The room was a business room, desk, huge bed and huge bathroom. Spotless. The restaurant over looks the tallest building in China, the 2nd tallest in the world. The gym...fancy a quick run? The view will take your mind off the fact you are running...and if you can’t deal with that, just watch a movie on the screen. Amazing. The rooftop bar. I recommend you go there at dusk as the light turn on. Same prices as western prices (€7 a beer). I can’t wait to go back!
The second time I stay at Grand Hyatt in Shanghai and still good and high quality of the service that they provide! Great view and convenient to travel around with the subway station just nearby and a lot of shopping malls as well. I really recommend this hotel!
Amazing view - try out a room with river view! Service mostly at high level. Location is good, just a walk to restaurants outside the hotel or shopping malls. Of course the bar in 87th floor is a hit in general - but it was far too dark and cold during my stay. Lobby: exceptional friendly and helpful!
I stayed 6 nights for a conference and sightseeing. I thought the hotel was fantastic - the rooms are stunning, the service was impeccable, and the location was central. When you arrive, head up to Level 54 to check in, and from there to your room. My rood had a "wow" impact - down a short hallway to very large, well appointed room, with attention to detail with new carpet, luxurious art and furnishings. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom is huge with separate bath and shower. I loved the wardrobe had dual access from the room and the bathroom. There is a mini bar and kettle to make tea/coffee. I was on the 63rd floor with a stunning river view. It snowed whilst I was in Shanghai, making the views spectacular. I thought the housekeeping staff did a great job - the room was spotless and refreshed with care each day. The buffet breakfast was excellent with lots of quality choices. I also had dinner at Kobachi (Japanese) which was also excellent. The conference lunch and breaks were catered by the hotel and very good. All of the staff I met at the Grand Hyatt were very professional and helpful. A couple of tips - from the hotel you can get to IFC Mall and Lujiazui Metro Station (Line 2) through easy to follow underground walkways in 7-8 minute walk. Concierge can book cars to and from the airport.
