I booked a room ysterday afternoon, by mistake selected april 13th instead of may 13th. Didnt realise till today and when i received ana e-mail on how did check-in go, i just called them and asked them whether they can move the booking to May. It was genuine mistake. But they didnt honour it at all. I had booked the Free cancellation ticket, but anyhow it was booked after cancellation time. They just charged me $285 for nothing... Really very dissapointed.
Dijon is located at the end of Hongxin Road, dubbed the Korean street. It is not difficult to find a decent and tasty Korean restaurants nearby, definitely suits those Korean food lovers. The hotel is clean and staff is helpful. Notably, the breakfast serves Korean noodles and Kimchi, which is unexpected. It took me less than 30mins to go to Hongqiao airport, recommend for those business travelers to/fro HQ.
Very nice room with a perfect bed and good bathroom with seperate shower and bath. Good wifi-connection in the hotel. Breakfast buffet was really good with a selection of both Chinese - and western dishes. Good coffee as well! Not too far from a metro station; to city center in ~ 45 minutes. Friendly and polite employees. Mastercard accepted.Good (Korean and other ) restaurants nearby. On the downside: Television has most channels in Chinese, so if you don' master Chinese you don't have much of a choice.
We needed to stay in this area so this hotel was better than the one down the road. The service was good and the room perfectly fine. The hotel mainly aims to cater for Koreans. The downside of this is that breakfast is a delight for those who like Korean food, but not really for this of a western bent. I ate toast, peanut butter and yoghurt. There is great fruit but the cooked food is very oily. The plus side is that the mini bar is totally un-tempting unless you like Korean cup noodles and herb tea. I arrived early (12) and it took a couple of hours to get checked in- so they sent me fruit to apologise. The service was faultless throughout and when I asked for a non smoking room I got one. The rooms contain umbrellas, robes and slippers, but no iron or ironing board- though they will bring them quickly. The laundry service is great and the wi-fi continuous but slow. I will go back to work in this area and would use this hotel, but if you have a choice of location in Shanghai you could get better value. This area is Korean, so there is a great choice of food.
This is my second review of the Dijon and I always look forward to a stay here. The staff is great and the location is an easy walk to may restaurants/bars for great options in the evening. One does not even need to go out however as the restaurant is great as well and has been remodeled. An onsite gym and reasonably priced suites are more reasons to pick the Dijon. The General Manager typically is out in the lobby each morning interacting with the guests and it is apparent that he truly cares about the guest and the success of the property. I look forward to my next stay for sure!
It's near the Korean district with modern decor and clienteles are mostly Korean. They have a great breakfast buffet included with the price of the room. And we all got a suite, the living room is sorta a waste of space. Much rather have a bigger room. Bathroom is clean and with shower stall only which is fine. Although not in terrible shape, carpet can use a good shampooing. All and all is a pleasant stay, and if you like Korean food, you are in the right area.
As has been reported previously the hotel is located in the Korean district of Shanghai so one will expect it to be popular with Korean visitors. The hotel is well presented, modern looking with well proportioned rooms which are clean with free wifi which on occasions a little slow but not a major issue. The breakfasts were aimed at the Asian market but there was enough choice to satisfy western visitors. The staff were overall friendly and spoke English, the bell boy was exceptional who was aware of service whose command of English was also good. I certainly would stay here again and some comments made previously by other contributors were not apparent during my 4 night stay at all - good price to pay for this almost 4 star establishment.
Great small hotel that looks sort of ok from the front but inside it is vey spacious and the rooms are huge. A bit away from the Bund but that is reflected in the price. Breakfast was pretty much Chinese (no surprise this far out of the main area) but the staff we're helpful. Room was huge and had a good shower - always important to me. Would stay here again.
Good standard rooms, but very much based on Korean tour groups and business travellers, very few western guest, but was well looked after, reception very friendly, free WIFI, restaurant very limited for western food, breakfast just one or two items from the buffet, terrible coffee machine, could not keep up with demand. Dinner again just a few choices for western travellers but good quality. Staff very good, no problem getting taxis in the morning, hotel is in the middle of Korea town, but still loads of restaurants, bars and coffee shops around the hotel, metro station just a 5 minute walk away, so all in all not to bad, and good value for money.
A collegue booked this property for me due to location and I was pleasantly surprised. Not sure why a previous review stated no WiFi in the rooms as I am posting this review from a room via WiFi. Yes, the beds are firm but most in Asia are from my experience. Breakfast buffet is very decent with a wide variety of items available although a definate Korean slant. Great value, my room was very clean and I had no issues with language with the staff. I would return here again even though I have been spoiled in the past by hotels like the Hyatt and the Shangri-La here before. That feeling of being spoiled goes away quickly when the bill is presented however which is not the case here
