To be fair, the Chinese have not created infrastructure for Western travelers. I can see effort has been made to make this a cute spot- it’s clean and everyone is nice as can be. The location is great- you can walk to the Bund and Old Shanghai Road and Yu Garden and a short cab ride to the French Concession and the AP Mall. But the language barrier is intense. You can literally point at what you want on the menu in the lobby cafe and four of the staff will gather to discuss it for ten minutes. This happened a few times. You call to have your bags brought down and they don’t understand what you’re asking. The thermostat has the same issues we had at every hotel in Asia- it’s either blasting cold air or it turns off and it gets hot and humid then kicks on again and it’s freezing. But like I said- it’s clean, cute, the staff is nice and great location. I imagine my chief complaints would be present at most Chinese hotels. I sort of love it because this will soon change- they will Westernize eventually, and something will be lost, even if it is somewhat frustrating. It’s one of those rare countries that hasn’t needed to learn English. Shanghai tourism is mostly for Chinese nationals.

This hotel has a good walking distance to the bund, nanjing road, yuyuan garden and people’s square (all located at 10 min). Nearest metro station is also a 10 min walk. Our room was spacious, with a great bathroom and very comfortable bed and memory foam pillow (as well as regular pillow).

The room was very nice and the location was great. The only annoying thing in the bathroom was that you always had to put the toilet valve down if you wanted to flush. The old roomservice menu was still in our room and the nacho's didn't taste very good. The internet was also working slow. Some of the staff couldn't speak very well English.. One time I called down to the reception and the lady was very rude and just hang up the phone. I also had a food delivery at the reception, so I picked it up and the lady from the reception kept talking in Chinese while I was talking in English to her.. I asked another guy from the reception about the opening times from the bar, but he didn't understand me.. But compliments to the sweet lady from housekeeping, she was from the 6th floor together with her daughter working. She was very kind and cleaned our room very good. During check-out they didn't even asked how my stay was, I stayed her for 9 nights.. that was a bit disappointing. I hope the staff get new training in learning English and provides a better service for guests.

If you get room 322, ask for a new one! It is extremely small, the window is not even see through and only opens about 30 cm, the only thing you can see when looking outside are some stairs, and the smell from the restaurant downstairs that enters the room after opening the window is just terrible. I asked for a new room: the hotel room respected my opinion and acted quickly. The hotel was full at that moment but we were able to switch rooms the next morning. I handed some of my clothes to laundry service but some of them shrunk or the colours faded. Complained at reception that I put very specific instructions on the laundry sheet yet the clothes were still ruined. Hotel staff called a taxi to take me to Nanjing Road to buy new clothes. The hotel paid for the taxi and the clothes and I was not charged for the laundry service. My compliments for how the hotel staff handled this! The hotel claims to be green regarding recycling items but I do not see this at all. Even though we hung our towels up (indicating that we wanted to use them another time) they were replaced with new, clean ones every day. The hotel provided plastic cups every day (mugs would have been more eco friendly), and my clothes were individually wrapped in plastic after I got them back from laundry service, even though I requested them to be returned to my room on a hanger. The hotel staff has English flags on their name tags to indicate if they speak English or not. However, I only found one hotel staff member to truly “deserve” this English flag. He spoke excellent English. The other staff member with an English flag spoke adequate English; he could only just understand what I was talking about.

The room is tiny, but very clean and everything you need to have a great night sleep and great breakfast. Service is goid, location too. Clise to most places, close to 2 metro stations and location is on a residential neighborhood where you can have a glimpse of chinese daily life 😀

We loved this hotel! The rooms were surprisingly spacious for a city hotel with lovely bathrooms. It's near the center of things but in a quiet area closer to Old Shanghai with laundry being dried in the street and locals exercising in the park across the street. We liked the hotel so much that we returned for another two nights at the end of our trip. The hotel is close walk to two subway stations for 10 & 2 subway lines.

The location of this property is its selling point. Only a flat 15 minutes walk to The Bund and Nan Jing Street. The staff were friendly and helpful. Although modern our room was tiny. One of the smallest rooms I have ever stayed in. Hardly anywhere to put suitcases. Plenty of hot water in the 'cosy' shower room. No double glazing on the windows and an elevated motorway just outside the hotel. A constant buzz of traffic noise all day and night. Anything over the room rate was an added extra cost. Breakfast, late check-out etc. Did not really think this was value for money. But then again maybe it's just Shanghai prices.

The price for this hotel is fantastic! Rooms are clean, modern and spacious with everything you need. Staff are friendly and speak good English. Special mention to the buffet breakfast, which is delicious with lots to choose from, also good value for money. Location is great, short walk to a metro station, as well as the bund and on either side of the hotel you will find a coffee shop and a small supermarket. Would stay here again for sure!

Very good location for travellers, very close to the Bund and the city centre. The room was a bit slightly for me, but it was comfortable. The staff can speak English, which is very helpful. I hope the breakfast will be better.

The hotel was clean and it had high standards in other areas as well. There was always someone at the front desk who spoke English. Both check-in and check-out were smooth. The location was good. It was on a residential area, but within walking distance to many areas of interest: the Bund, People's Square, East Nanjing Road and Old Shanghai. Several metro stations were within a reasonable walk, but none very close. The room was comfortable but smallish. There is an elevated road next to the hotel so there was traffic noise even in the 5th floor. However it didn't disturb after closing the window.
