Amazing Stay, Amazing Friends

My girlfriend and I stayed at the YaKorea hostel in Hongdae during our first visit to Seoul in June 2018. We found out when we got there that the amenities are shared with the nearby Kimchee Sinchon Guesthouse, which was also where we checked in. The staff were very professional, friendly and even showed us around Hongdae. Akira and Dan were very accommodating and friendly. I would definitely come again and recommend both YaKorea and Kimchee to friends and family. Thank you everyone for showing us such a good time! We made memories we will never forget.

Not so recommended

A very worn out hostel. The room is big but bit smelly. Noisy at night when neighbour talked and laughed loudly after midnight. Not so clean, found hair on the bed. Towels and bed sheets are old. Around 10 mins walk from hongdae exit 4, quite quiet and dark nearby at night.

Won't ever stay here again!

I stayed in this hostel/guesthouse for 3 nights. The room was on the 5th floor. No elevator. The bathroom was small. It was a basic room and much smaller than the other rooms in the guesthouse. The reason I know this is because on the first night i befriended a fellow traveler and we spent time together talking and drinking. Well the reason I am writing this negative review mainly was because of the way I was treated on my 3rd night. I was out all day sightseeing and I came back to the hotel around 12am at night. As I was walking up the stairs I was rudely yelled at and told to come into the office. I found out later the worker was the manager at Yakorea and Kimchee guesthouse hostel nearby. He told me to stop talking to the guest I met on the first night because she complained about me. Well he didn't even bother to ask me the whole story. This girl was very flirty and hanging out with me on the first night with her and her friend. But apparently when her boyfriend found out that I was in her room and hanging out with them then she had to "justify" it by making an excuse that i was bothering her to management. I really didn't know the reason why she didn't hang out with me on day 2 or 3 but now i know why. I didn't appreciate being yelled at and ridiculed by a manager that didn't even know the story. I really wished he would of been more on my side because he lost my business for the rest of the week. I planned on staying at Yakorea until Friday! So he's the loser not me!

nice and spacious

Conveniently located near Hongik University station exit 4. Room was spacious and comfortable. There were also a supermarket and a couple of cafes which serve great breakfasts. However, there were a couple of cockroaches in my room (maybe due to construction next door?)

Room can get a bit stuffy unless you open the window But when you open the window is open, cold air comes in Reception staff don't speak English well Able to change towels every day Heating can only be adjusted for the water or floor one at a time ( you either have warm water or a warm floor, but not both at once)

Review

The room was okay and I did enjoy my stay there. However, there wasn't a consistent hot water supply for showers and there isn't a lift, which made getting to my room at the top level a bit troublesome. But overall, not a terrible place to stay. Staff could definitely be a bit friendlier and helpful though.

불친절하고 숙소 그릇에서 머리카락 나옴, 더럽다.. 太脏了，而且服务最差。 这个宿舍真不好， 比如态度， 清洁 还有等等。 不推荐!!! 宁可去朋友的很小家，也不去这个宿舍。 외국사람이니 모른다고 나에게 이해는 요구하면서 불친절하고 비아냥대는 태도에 대해서 전혀 사과는 안함 . 그리고 김치게스트하우스 최악이라는 후기에 여기 호스텔 예약한건데 김치랑 여기랑 같은 것임.
