Great hotel for extended stay in Seoul - very close to Anguk subway station. Excellent service, convenience, and friendly & efficient staff. Breakfast was typical Korean breakfast (mix of western breakfast foods, fruit and salad bar, plus Korean foods). Walking distance to Insa-dong (shopping, restaurants, etc.), palaces, US Embassy, museums, farmers market, etc.
I spent two weeks at the Somerset Palace for meetings and it was a "home away from home". Friendly service, a comfortable apartment overlooking the Royal Palace, good breakfasts, and my own washing machine made for a very pleasant stay. As many residents are in Seoul for academic meetings, research, and business, there is a sense of community that goes beyond your typical anonymous hotel.
The hotel located perfect! Just walk distance to attractions. Pool is amazing to get fresh and also there is a jacuzzi. The room was even bigger than I expected. But the stuff is not to friendly. 4/5!
Excellent location, clean room, good facilities, friendly staffs, and close to palaces, museums, restaurants, and shopping. It has cooking utensils and a refrigerator. Next to a buddhist temple called Jogyesa.
I totally satisfied this residence for the location and services for my babies. Some palaces are near from the residence. We walked through In-Sa dong street with my family. I rested at the jacuzzi on the top of the building.
The staff, service and the room was above what I expected. The room was excellent quiet and spacious. People were willing to assist and work hard to make sure my stay was excellent. The hotel was conveniently located and easy access to metro transit.
Stayed here for 2 nights in June. Paid USD280 including breakfast. The hotel feels very dated, with the interiors looking particularly tired. I stayed in a one bedroom apartment which can sleep 3 people. Comes with a small kitchenette which is equipped with the basics such as a microwave, 2 hobs, some pots and pans and cutlery. Enough to have a microwave meal or instant noodles. There is even a washer/dryer for those wishing to do some laundry during your stay. The bathroom is compact with a tiny bath tub. There were some old stain patches on the curtain, carpet, cushion and even on the bed sheet. The bedroom slippers were clearly reused.. I refused to put them on. Breakfast was decent. Did not manage to use any of the facilities but it does have a gym, a pool, a kids playroom and a lovely garden at the back. Location is excellent.. Walking distance to insadong and to 2 train stations. Some good restaurants, convenience store and a coffee shop within the premises which is very convenient. Overall, I was not impressed, neither was I disappointed. For the price, this is a decent place to stay whilst visiting Seoul.
My girl friends and I had a great stay at this property! The apartment is bright, spacious and thoughtfully designed. The location is excellent. The Seoul Palace, Insadong, as well as Anguk train station are just minutes' walk away. The breakfast spread here was good and the breakfast area, very comfortable. We didn't have time to check out the gym and the swimming pool.
We stayed in this hotel for almost a month and although we had a small sour on our the last day our overall experience was excellent as I shall describe as follows: *Room: We got a room at the very end of the hall which was very convenient: quiet and peaceful. The mattress of of one of our beds was slightly uncomfortable and the shower water was hard to adjust because either the water was too cold or hot but hard to stay lukewarm but other than that: good ventilation, quiet room, a comfortable kitchen area with a fridge, laundry machine, *Cleaning Service: The best room cleaning service I've experience! The cleaning staff are very syncronized and during our whole stay our room was spotless. *Breakfast: Okay, coming from a person who's had breakfast here everyday for almost a month this is what you can expect: Buffet style breakfast where you can sample both a (A) Korean style breakfast with a basic menu of kimchi and 2 other side dishes, rice and soup; and (B) Western breakfast options: bacon, sausages and mushrooms, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, (an option to omelet- which I never ordered because I'm not an omelet person. TMI...) cereal options, toast, pastry. Drinking options: juices, soy milk, milk, tea, (and this was my favorite: ) a coffee machine that poured various coffee options: expresso, americano, latte, cappucchino. TIP: Try to grab your breakfast as early as possible, the dining room tends to get crowded especially during the weekends. Staff: Friendly, especially the cleaning staff. Location and Convenience: There is a convenience store and a coffee shop within the hotel grounds (thumbs up). Having Insadong at close walking distance was a huge plus (TIP: The fastest way to head to Insadong is to walk out the backdoor of the hotel, the one that heads towards the garden. Walk across the garden to the street and head down (left). You'll see a Subway (not the subway station but the Subway sandwich shop, across the street from Subway you'll see a monument of a big caligraphy brush, walk towards it. Voila, you're at the entrance of Insadong and a few meters from Anguk subway station). Last tip if you decide to stay at the hotel: When hailing a cab and explaining your way to the hotel, give the reference that the hotel is located across the street from the Japanese Embassy.
Our room was large, quiet and comfortable with a kitchenette and combo washer/dryer. The staff were helpful and very friendly, going above and beyond. The garden area was such a pleasant place to sit and people watch. Lots of inexpensive restaurants nearby. Also close to popular tourist sites. Breakfast buffet was ample and varied. Both onsite restaurants were excellent although rather expensive.
