Needless to say that Mercure chain hotels are always up to their standards until last week. When we were just to pick up our car, ot was scratched and bumped. What a frustration and disgust!!! Rotten weekend!
My second stay was excellent at the Mercure Santos Hotel, close to the beach with excellent rooms and with great breakfast / lunch / dinner. In addition, the hotel staff is very helpful in assisting us in various situations.
I booked this hotel for a business trip and got really sick when I arrived there. The hotel restaurant offers a great variety of soups for dinner and it helped me to feel better! The room I stayed had very comfortable beds and it was all very clean. It was a suite with two rooms, and amenities that provided my co-worker to keep working when I was trying to recover the cold. The only BIG problem we had: We asked the front desk (Nathalia) if we could have breakfast like 15 minutes before the normal time for that day as we had a meeting very early next morning. She promptly called us saying that it was all set for the next day. It wasn´t! We were there and the restaurant was still closed and nobody knew what I was talking about. Apparently, the person who worked the night before at the restaurant, forgot to leave a message for the next morning workers. Too bad! Even though I would be there again! Just a little thing to get fixed: Communication!
The hotel is at the beach, with a wonderful view: all of the rooms have a balcony. The staff is very friendly. The rooms are so spacious (about 500 SqFt), with a bedroom and a living room with sofa and table. The breakfas (included in price) is gorgeous. And, best of all, it is so near of the main central area of Santos.
You can't beat the location of this hotel. It is right on the beach across the street. The furniture in the rooms though seems original to it's 2002 construction and looks worn. We had lights in our room that were burned out. I spoke to the desk and they said they would fix them. But when we checked out two days later they still were not working. We took the junior suite. I would recommend not bothering, just get the regular room. The junior suite has a little more room but it is not usable. It's basically wasted space in the center of the room. The restaurant on the roof and the breakfast were very good.
Nice location right on the beach and very central. Staff friendly, rooms are excellent - large. Restaurant is to be avoided. It is overpriced and not very good. Many other restaurants where I would rather than here.
The Mercure in Santos to me was a bit of a disappointment. It is very well located but the hotel itself leaves much to be desired. There aren`t enough elevators and i found myself always waiting a lot for the elevator. The room was comfortable but simple. It wouldn't take much to make it much better. The positive point was the staff at the reception, bar, room service and chamber maid who really did everything to make my stay very pleasant. The exception was the breakfast staff who practically ran you over to get their work done. You were made to feel in the way.
POSITIVE Very good Location, in front of Gozaga and a lot of restaurants around Very good swimming Pool ... good views as well The 2 bed room it is very big and has good views Very clean NEGATIVE If you are Accor platinum member, just forget it. I did not receive welcome drink, water, etc. just normal guest.
Thanks a lot for all your service!!!! We are from Ukraine and we have asked a lot of questions, during the preparation of our visit. When we have problem with our rent-a-car vehicle, Fabulo Bueno has helped us a lot! Many'many thanks!!! The hotel is good with a good ocean view, the service is really very good!
We stayed here for 5 nights. The room is a suite, which creates space for your own breakfast and lunch if you like. Refrigerator is large and quiet. Bed and bathroom is more than ok. Pleasant airy balcony (we were on the 18th floor) with a stunning sight of the beach. Location is great, just a few steps from the well used beach and a couple of restaurants. The hotel restaurant itself is one of the best where we have eaten. Unfortunately at night you hear a lot of sounds from the streets. There is also a low rumbling sound every 10 minutes in the room at night that gets on your nerves. The hotel and room should undergo some renovations. It is not very complicated to get to the airport of Sao Paulo, but it takes quite some time. You have to prebook your bus from the Santos Busstation to the international airport. First you need a taxi from the hotel to the busstation. At the airport you are dropped at Terminal 2. Most international flights leave from terminal 3 so you have to take a shuttle bus to move from Terminal 2 to 3. In our case that costed considerable time - people parked at busstops and every time the bus just waited for them to go away, which they did ... eventually -- the distance is not large, so I think we just had bad luck.
