We chose this hotel for our Honeymoon and we booked a Junior Suite with outdoor Jacuzzi. The room was spacious, with minibar and balcony which was a real plus as we enjoyed have our lunch there. As we told the staff prior arrival that it would be a special occasion for us they had arranged a nice swan made with towels and decorated it with flowers and they gave us 2 bottles of wine and a fruit basket complimentary. Breakfast was one of the best things, plenty of choice with selection of pastries and desserts, greek yogurth, local honey and fresh fruits, cereals, plus some cooked breakfast such as different types of eggs, sausages, vegetables. There were a couple of cats wandering around the hotel as Santorini is plenty of and they were friendly and cute. Use of pool is free of charge and we also enjoyed the Jacuzzi which when in need of cleaning we told the staff which acted promptly. The room had air conditioning which worked fine and there was free wifi which was at times weak, however we were there for relax so it was not really a problem. The room was clean and it was serviced daily in the afternoon. The hotel itself is not too far from the beach and it was something like 7/8 minutes walk. The whole staff was superb, very accommodating and attentive. We mentioned them prior arrival that towards the end of the stay it would also be my Birthday so they surprised us with cake and prosecco on that day. It was a fantastic holiday for us and we would not hesitate to book this lovely hotel again.
My husband & I ignored the bad reviews for this hotel and now regret it. This hotel was dirty, old, and far from the beach. The food was disgusting and multiple cats roaming the breakfast area was unsanitary and annoying. The staff smiled at complaints but never did anything to rectify the situations we complained about. The bathroom in our room was dirty when we arrived and repeated requests were met with, "We'll get to it when we can." The bad smell from the water made it hard to sleep at night. We were told to sleep with our glass doors open, yet there were no screens so that was not a solution at all. We couldn't take the dirt and smell anymore and asked to change rooms. The front desk staff told us, "We are 100 percent booked." Later, they told us that didn't mean they didn't have other rooms to offer us but since we didn't ask 3 times in a row, they said that meant we were ok with staying in the dirty & smelly room. When we asked to speak with the manager, she told us if we stay in the hotel for the day and don't go out sightseeing, she does have rooms that she can try to give us but she's not sure when they will be ready, and if we are not on the premises, she won't call us on a cell phone or hold them for us. We ended up wasting a full day sitting by their old, smelly, pool and were given a new room at 4pm on the now 3rd day at this bad hotel. Who ever gives the star rating for this hotel must be drunk because the facilities are like a 1 star motel. Don't waste your time or money at this vacation ruining hotel. My husband needed to send and receive emails for work and the wifi never worked during our entire stay. We would call the front desk to ask about it, and they kept telling us, it works but just happens to be down for the last 20 minutes and will be up soon. That was a lie they repeated day after day. We were surprised when the electricity went out on our 2nd night there, but were told it's nothing unusual because it's high season. When it happened again the next night, we were told it's happening at every hotel on the island. That too was a lie. Sleeping with no air-conditioning due to no electricity was not what we wanted or expected on our vacation. We asked for some sort of compensation and were rudely told no. Don't be lured by the low price of this hotel it is a scam, this hotel does not deserve the fake star ratings it has. Pay attention to the bad reviews or ruin your vacation like we did.
We stayed at Antinea for our honeymoon in September. Had a slight mishap when we got off the plane - we were told that the hotel had been overbooked and as a result we had to spend our first night in their sister hotel La Mer. This was fine and we were transported to Antinea the next day, given welcome juice on arrival then shown to our room. Beautiful large room above Reception, large 4 poster bed with lovely petals and our towels arranged in the shape of a rose :-). 1 large balcony overlooking the mountain and the sea and a smaller shaded balcony overlooking the pool area. The room itself was clean, didn't care much for the bathroom however as it was out dated and the shower couldn't hang up very well by itself. We found the staff to be very pleasant and helpful with our requests. Breakfast was sadly a bit of a joke, diluting juice was the OJ and most of the cooked breakfast looked pretty well cooked by the time we got there around 9.30-9.45 most mornings. I opted for croissants most days. We din't sit by the pool very often as it was quite busy and as it was rather shaded all the preferred loungers were taken anyway. But the hotel was kept very clean and our room was always cleaned each day which we liked. The hotel is up a hill from the main strip of shops, bars and restaurants. We quite liked the location as it was away from the hustle and bustle and although the walk back to the hotel is all uphill, it was only a 10 minute walk and with an ice cream in the evening was very pleasant! Overall, we were left to ourselves throughout our stay. The only part I was disappointed in was the pool area which was quite small and lost the sun after 4pm due to it going behind the mountain (obviously not the hotel's fault!) and as a result we ended up using the loungers on our balcony each day to sunbathe. Lovely hotel however if some areas are a little out dated.
We stayed here for a week in October. The hotel is positioned up a slight hill just outside the main town which was perfect. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and everywhere was kept spotlessly clean. We asked for an extra pillow and also our outside light wasn't working, we pointed this out on day two and by the time we arrived back at our room there was another pillow and the lights were fixed. A good choice for breakfast which is served from 8-10.30. We did not use the spa, but used the pool which is a nice size and there were plenty of beds to go around for that time of year as it is end of season. On arrival we were upgraded to a Junior Suite with Jacuzzi (had booked a standard double room) so this was a nice touch, but as others have commented, the jacuzzi water is cold and therefore we only used it once. It would have been nice to have it heated so we could enjoy some time in there early evening, but it is probably a good temperature during the height of the season. The pool isn't heated either, but we did not find it too cold to use. From this side of the island you will see the sun rise, but will have to travel to the other side - Fira, Oia, etc for the sunrise. This is no problem, there is a regular bus service which takes about 15 minutes to reach Fira. We chose to watch the sunset from Santo Wines whilst wine tasting - this was fantastic. No need to book at this time of year. Ancient Thira is within easy reach from this hotel, either walk up the winding road or climb (which took us about 50 minutes). Kamari is good for the beach and there are plenty of lovely restaurants to choose from. The beach restaurants allow you to use their sunbeds free of charge if you buy a drink from them. In summary, a wonderful quiet hotel (40 rooms) where the staff are only too pleased to make your stay enjoyable. We would stay here again if returning to Santorini.
We had stayed at the property in September 2014 as we were attending a friends wedding at the winery during our stay, we loved the tranquillity of the hotel and, although the climb to reach is somewhat taxing for the olders amongst us it is a walk worth making. We were in room 602 where we enjoyed our own little courtyard complete with Jacuzzi and palm tree. The room was on 2 floors with lounge and a small toilet with shower, it had a fridge, television and safe. A delightful staircase lead to our bedroom with large double bed and, unfortunately a very hard mattress not to our taste and comfort but fine for our stay. We also had another wc, shower, small bath and basin and plenty of wardrobe space. We had originally booked half board but were advised prior to departure this was no longer available, we were offered alternative accommodation but chose to stay. Upon arrival we were advised the hotel were offering half board and gave us a cost if this was something we wanted to take. The cost per couple per day exceeded the refund received from Thomas Cook and we therefore decided not to take although we did have two evening meals during our stay, the lamb dinner was excellent and worth the cost our other was definitely not. The hotel has 2 pools one quiet one close to our room and this is where we spent the majority of our relaxation time. Breakfast is a buffet and offers plenty of choice. Like most hotels the hotel has a number of cats, we have our own at home and had no problem when they came visiting for food and quickly made friends with 3 who came 2 sometimes 3 times a day for food and a little loving. We had a wonderful 2 weeks exploring the island and climbing the steep hill to the hotel and we will definitely visit again, our holidays for 2017 are already booked and paid for so we will plan to visit again in 2018. There were a couple of hotels we really liked so will review along with the Antinea before booking. A great holiday staff were excellent and helpful and should we decide to book we would have no issues staying at the Antinea. The hotel also has a spa where my wife and I enjoyed massages and use of the sauna/Jacuzzi.
The resort of Kamari is fantastic and this hotel is very good. The rooms form a range of types, many with their own outdoor or indoor hot-tubs. We were upgraded to an internal hot-tub which was great. However this was not heated to a high temperature as standard. That was fine for us, only using it once or twice but be careful if you want it heated right up as there is an extra charge. The pool is nice and lots of loungers around it. However, after about 2pm, the hill behind the hotel cuts out the sun so the pool is cooler. The staff were excellent in every way, from the reception to the bar staff. A lovely place to stay if you are looking for a chilled holiday.
We had an amazing time in Santorini, Antinea Hotel hotel is lovely, very calm and relaxing. The Staff are very friendly and hardworking, did everything to make us feel comfortable. The Hotel is up hill but too far away from Kamari beach, which by the way is beautiful. It's a fine 10 min walk from the hotel to Kamari beach, where there are a lots of great places to eat and drink and the problem is the way back to the hotel, if you had eaten or drunk too more the you should I advise to take a cab back to the hotel, the way up is not as pleasant as the way down haha. The only downside of the hotel is the internet connection, if you like to stay connected you will have issues. We also had some spa treatment on our last day, it was good but not amazing, bit pricy too. We stayed 5 nights at The Hotel, overall we had an amazing time and would definitely come back.
Me and my wife stumbled upon this hotel in our local travel agent. Great looking add so we decided to book it for our honeymoon. After reading previous reviews we were abit sceptical before flying out as some people had given bad reviews. But upon arrival i knew that was wrong for me to consider them being true. The reception is nice and cool and clean. You get a welcome drink on arrival when booking in. We got shown to our room where we found the hotel had got us a bottle of bubbly and put the towels in a heart formation on the bed with petals sprinkled over, as i said this was for out honeymoon so it made it more special. We had a great room, number 606. Brilliant view down to the town which you could also see the beach and sea. The room was spotlessly clean and was also cleaned every day. The only problem i found was that the toilet roll holder was abit too far away from the actual toilet so you had to lean across to get some paper. Could do with being moved next to the toilet. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Yes there is a bigish hill you have to walk up if you go down the town and come back, but its not that bad. It's situated in a great place away from the noise of the town and the airport. Planes flew in all the time so were glad we didnt have a hotel down in town as we wouldnt of got any sleep from the planes flying over. Breakfast was incredible. Huge amount of choice for everyone and fresh food always being brought out to top up. The main pool was a great size and very deep and clean. We used the spa and was very impressed. I really couldn't find much to fault this hotel. With the bad reviews i have seen i'm not sure that the people who wrote them actually stayed there as I couldn't see what they were moaning at seeming we stayed there for 2 weeks. I highly recommend this hotel for adults who want a relaxing break away from the daily grind.
We booked a deal with Groupon for a standard room with upgrade if possible. We paid extra for direct flights and transfers. Everything went like clockwork, from check in, on time flights, to arrival and transfer to hotel which is 15 mins away from the airport. We were given a room with balcony at the back, far end of the hotel ( room 608). The room had air conditioning and was spacious with good wardrobe space. Upon arrival the room was clean and we had a bottle of water and a couple of pieces of fruit. The hotel has 2 pools, the smaller one was in front of our room and is the quietest. All the staff were lovely but especially the restaurant and pool bar team. Breakfast is a continental buffet and was ample. We had a choice of 3 cereals, toast, juices, tea and coffee, croissants, fried eggs, bacon, baked beans, tomatoes, cheeses, meats, melon, watermelon, fruit salad and every day there were Greek pastries and meats on offer. There aren't any coffee or tea making facilities in a standard room but there is a small fridge/freezer and a safe. Tap water is not drinkable. The water went off every morning around 10 but came back within the hour. We found the bed was a little bit firm but not bad enough not to sleep and we asked for softer pillows. Nothing was an issue and if there was a problem, it was dealt with quickly. There is a steep hill to walk up and down with around a 25% incline and then steps up to most rooms. By the end of our week, (we are aged 50-60 and relatively fit, we could climb with ease.) It is a quiet hotel with no clubs or activities on offer. There are not any facilities or clubs for children. The hotel is in a good location for walking to the town and beach. It takes around 10-15 minutes. To get to Oia, Fira, Imerovigli etc, you will need to get the bus directly at the bottom of the hill to Fira firstly. From Fira, you catch your second bus to wherever you want to go. It is really easy and costs 1.80E per journey and you pay on board for all the buses. The buses are like air conditioned coaches. They do get busy with standing room only at times but from Kamari you will get a seat. They run every 15 minutes. If you would rather travel yourself, the quad bikes come in at around 30-40E a day or hire a car.Oia is absolutely beautiful and the sunset is amazing! Imerovigli is like Oia but quiter. We did a boat trip with Kamari tours to the Volcano, hot springs,Thelassia Island and the sunset. Water on board is 1E per bottle.(cheaper in the supermarkets).Come prepared with good comfortable walking shoes, hats and sunscreen. It costs around 2E to enter the volcano. The hot springs will turn anything white, yellow and will ruin your jewellery(especially silver). You jump in from the boat. The walk up the volcano is done in around 4 stages. Very steep but the views at the top are amazing! Your health is not taken into consideration on any of the trips we did. Even when we arrived at the island of Thelassia, we had to climb up out of the boat and down into it. We also found that our very fit guide didn't wait for those less slower than he was. Be on time for your return journeys as the buses do not wait for you and sometimes leave a few minutes earlier. That applies whether you are on a pre- booked trip or doing it yourself. In Kamari square you can get a Gyros( like a pitta kebab) for 3E, it costs twice that amount in the restaurants. Along the beach front, there are loads of eateries to choose from, most entertainment in the bars starts around 9.30-10pm. The beach hotels all have their pools at the front if you don't mind being constantly on display. We would come to Antinea Suites again in the future but having now been to Santorini, Our suggestion, especially for couples, is to do a few days here and at least 1-2 days in Imerovigli or Oia in a cliff top hotel with preferably your own private dip pool or jacuzzi. You would not be disappointed doing Santorini this way.
My husband and I stayed here for 10 days. Without a doubt, the staff make this place amazing! They were ALL so friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough to make our stay a very lovely one. The hotel was clean and quiet and the spa was lovely. Food was good too. For us, the location wasn't good, but only because it is at the top of a hill and I am pregnant. Kamari isn't the side of Santorini we wanted to stay in, but this was not the hotel's fault - they did everything possible to make sure our stay was enjoyable!
