Overall an excellent stay. Rooms were excellent, clean and spacious. Staff were very good and we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere which the staff helped create. Very nice pool to unwind by, with poolside bar and food service available. Only negative we would suggest is the lack of options for vegans and alternative dietary - we were unable to enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Other than that, a very good hotel at a very good price point and great location in Oia.
Let me say from the outset that the staff at Laokasti Villas were extremely helpful, very friendly and all around just lovely. The pool is beautiful and Marco, the pool manager, could not have been nicer. However, our visit (my wife and I both 60+ and extremely active and experienced travellers ) has underlined an important lesson. That is, not only do you need to be aware of the facilities of any accommodation establishment, you also need to specifically ask, “What do I need to know about Santorini?” so that you are able to ask specific questions about any possible issues that may concern you. For instance, we had no idea that toilet paper (after it had been soiled) could not be flushed down the toilet. The used toilet paper had to be placed in a container beside the toilet and would be emptied once a day. Had we been aware of this, it alone would have been a deal breaker. Added to this we had to request that the container be emptied because on the first day someone forgot! We couldn’t, thanks to that homely scent. Secondly, we were told by staff that the tap water was not drinkable. While we were provided with a kettle, one has to ask, if it’s not drinkable is boiling going to fix it. Maybe boiling kills whatever is in the water that “Will make you sick” according to One staff member. Needless to say, coffee and tea was off the agenda. Another deal breaker. I have never drunk so much bottled water, cordial and beer. The hot water in our kitchen sink was luke warm at best. While we did our best to wash cutlery and crockery, I wonder if it was washed prior to the next couple moving in less than two hours after we moved out. The bathroom door didn’t close properly. Having been given a front unit, we were told, “A bit of noise until 10 o’clock then nothing.” Unfortunately the locals didn’t seem to understand that arrangement. The noise was horrendous. If you intend to stay at Laokasti Villas, I suggest that you don’t hire one of the two front Villas. There may be Villas at Laokasti with modern plumbing, bathroom doors that close and hot water in the kitchen, it is just that we didn’t see them. Again let me stress, the staff, the pool, it’s position in Oia, are all very good, however when people mention Santorini we will have memories of being very pleased to leave.
Great place to stay, big well equipped rooms and a good location. We had breakfast in our room every morning which we thoroughly enjoyed. The place was a welcome relief after some of the poor places we'd stayed during our 5 week trip. The bathroom had a great hot shower, a hairdryer and lovely toiletries. Poppy and her staff were very welcoming and super helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. This is a lovely, family run place.
Clean rooms in traditional Greek houses, friendly staff and extremely close to the most beautiful spot of Santorini. It's a hidden gem for people who wants to hop on this island for a night or two and don't want to pay over 400 EUR per night to stay in Oia. Didn't had the time to try the swimming pool though!
Our hotel was so cute. Absolutely perfect location. Staff is really nice and the room was awesome. It was adorable. I loved the loft room. The pool looked nice but we did not swim because it was too cold. We forgot to ask if we could use the hot tub, but we saw one. They offer airport/port pickup and drop off and it’s a bit pricey but it’s worth it. Excellent staff. Can’t wait to come back. :)
The staff is very warm and willing to help in any way they can. Food at their restaurant very good. Location is very good since it is in the quiet side of Oia yet minutes away from the breathing view.
We had a room down away from the street. It was quiet and lovely! Kitchenette with table and VERY comfy bed. I think it might have had a memory foam top. Popi in reception is about the nicest person you’ll ever meet and Marco made us our first Greek coffees for our first breakfast in Oia!
I was looking into the best value for my money hotel in Santorini. Located at Oia within walking distance to all attractions, I couldn't find any better than Laokasti villas. The rooms where spacious and clean. It consisted of an a/c, TV, fridge and a small kitchenette which was a plus since we wanted to save some money by cooking a few times. There was no need for that at all since the hotel has also a restaurant with great prices and probably the best food we had in our entire stay on the island. The staff of the hotel and the restaurant went above and beyond our expectations. This is highly recommended, I really can't stress this enough. Thank you all for making our vacation unforgettable, we will definitely come back.
I arrived late in the evening as reception closes at 2 pm . Welcome note on one of the door had my name on it . I found that unusual . Room was spacious and warm with any thing needed was in there. Bathroom was a bit small specially if you travel with a friend.Receptionist was very friendly and helpful . She had a cute 8 months old baby with her.
We found this hotel on TripAdvisor and contacted them directly to book as they offered a discount in this way. Katerina was phenomenal, she booked our stay and upgraded our room on arrival. She was so fantastic, knowledgeable and upbeat despite it being the end of her long working season. The room was gorgeous with a bed in the loft area and a balcony overlooking the sea. We enjoyed our leisurely breakfasts delivered in our room. We also really loved the restaurant as well, guests receive 20% of divining there as well. This was truly a memorable stay and the staff was 97.9% responsible for that! Would love to return.
