Great location for walking tours in the Zona Colonial. We stayed for three nights. We had an interior room and it was very dark. Missed the reviews that said to ask for a room with a balcony for better lighting. That would have been better. In general it was satisfactory, very clean and had good air conditioning. Bathroom was large and newly renovated. I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for central location and economy. The staff was helpful and friendly.

The staff was very nice and helpful. The rooms could use some updating. The fan in the bathroom should not come on automatically every time you turn on the lights. There should be a separate switch for the bathroom fan. The staff was very attentive and promptly responded to any needs.

Good Value hotel, Great restaurants near by, close to the Plaza, the Lobby Is very nice and overall hotel appearance is good. The location is great. My room was clean but the mattress was a little uncomfortable, bathroom was ok, older , it took a little while but i did get hot water. there is a nice roof top breakfast place it was a typical breakfast, The staff were very good.

Need work..but great staff.amazing location The Breakfast need more work

I enjoyed my stay very much, the location is suitible for those who have to move around the city. Great restaurants near.

Location is great, the building itself is very nice. I first got a room where the bathtub was in very bad condition, no desk and no towels. In the morning I got a call from the front desk to ask if everything was OK, I explained the situation and complained about my first night experience. When I came back I found that they have changed me to a much nicer room with desk, better TV and towels! I appreciate their quick reaction and nice attitude unfortunately the shower was in poor condition! The hotel need maintenance desperately to match the very nice disposition of the staff who is its best asset.

The staff was awesome. After that, it was a nice place to sleep. They definitely need a plumbing upgrade.

1st room had no window, 2nd room A/C did not work. 3rd room had no dresser or chair.

The Lobby was nice and overall hotel appearance was good. Location is great. Room was clean but the bed was old and uncomfortable, was only dressed with one sheet of linen. Bathroom was ok but found about 4 roaches during my stay. Breakfast included was a nice touch. Now comes what really got to me, "hotel parking available " This was one of the reasons I chose this hotel, when I got there, the hotel didn't have parking available, there were two places in which you could park and were about a block away, one charged $50 pesos an hour ($1.10 dollars ), and the other one is an gentleman right across the street from the first parking lot who charges $200 pesos for the night. The thing is both parking lots close early so this cuts your outside fun early, God forbid you want to stay out and party a little, and the gentleman does specify that if you park with him you should get the vehicle out of his lot by 8am or you'll be charged more money. I felt limited, restraint and was constantly looking at the time. Twice I paid over $11 dollars for the night on one lot and once I had to leave my rental on the streets because both were closed. This hotel should clearly state this issue with the parking for those guest who have rentals.

I had a wonderful experience staying the weekend in that hotel, besides everything Sunday there is a free concert of Dominican music next to the hotel.

Decent Hotel. The location is really good as it was close to all the major monuments. The only thing is that it is kind of on the cusp of the nicer area of the colonial zone and the unrenovated and rundown portion. the building itself is very nice and looks attractive on the outside and inside. The breakfast could be better but it wasn't bad. The staff is very nice. I think they should lower their prices a little

Just stayed for one night, passing through Santo Doming but it was a very friendly nice little hotel with a lovely roof top breakfast place, I thought it was adorable. It's in the heart of the tourist area at the Colonial section, close to all restaurants and things to see and visit. Will go back again if I'm in Santo Domingo.

Great value for your money. Great staff, very attentive. The breakfast was very good. The rooms very clean. Would stay again.

This hotel is in the perfect location for visiting historical sites, seeing the culture up close, and local shopping. A few blocks to the south you can find a guided tour to take you around and explain the significance of each historical location. The outdoor breakfast on the top patio made for a great start to the day. Everyone on staff was amazing, they all do an excellent job. The room was very small but we had not planned on spending much time in the room anyway. We used a white noise app on our phone for the night because of the loud traffic and it worked ok for us. There are signs asking drivers not to use their horn in the area however many still did. We did find a bug in the bathroom which was quickly eliminated and I was pleased to see that no other bugs were found throughout the rest of our stay. Parking was scarce however with the help of staff we were lucky enough to be able to park right across from the hotel entrance. There is a parking garage about a block away. The streets are narrow and motorcycles like to take any opening they have so use caution when driving or parking, and avoid driving after sunset. Pedestrians, motorcycles and other drivers are all over the road so it is extremely hectic, especially after the sun sets. Great for a one night stay. We were able to do everything we wanted to in about a day so one night was plenty for us.

The location is obviously key -- in the Zona Colonial. I got a deal, but in general I'd say it's probably one of the more decent values for the ZC. However, I was happy that my stay was only two nights. For one, reviewers are absolutely right that most rooms are dungeon-like. There are some balcony rooms, which as far as I can tell they charge the same for, but I requested both during booking and on arrival and did not receive one. The dungeon rooms are very dark with a small window, and are fairly small they also, unfortunately, face an inner lightwell that connects with the upstairs restaurant. For whatever reason -- the time or two I went up outside of breakfast, it was empty -- said restaurant blasts music, which careens down into all those rooms (they do turn it off at some point, 23.00 or so, thank god). There was a lot of hallway noise, too -- doors banging, etc. -- and from what I could tell, the place does attract groups of budget-minded young folks cramming into rooms (which is a disaster for others). Parking was an issue -- I ended up just parking on the street and praying, and it worked, but even besides the torn-up street, this is not an easy area to navigate. The breakfast is scrambled eggs and bread products, which was fine, though not great the roof is indeed nice to have the breakfast, but I doubt most people will use it much. The wifi was not great in my room. Overall, the location is the main thing, and the room was clean, so it's recommended as a crash pad for people who sleep easily and want to see the ZC for a couple days.

Gret location, right in the hearth of the colonial zone of Santo Domingo! The hotel staff was very courteous! Every single one of them made us feel welcome! From the front desk, at check-in/check-out, housekeeping and bellman (Santo), up to the restaurant staff (Elvin)! Breakfast was very good and above average. Fresh fruits, scrambled eggs, bread options, coffee, etc., everything was great! We really enjoyed the balcony, didn't mind the noise from the street. I will recommend to include natural juices, that will make the breakfast even more enjoyable! Room was a little small, but very cozy! I will recommend also, to upgrade the tv's, specially to save energy as well as the bathrooms need few upgrades but nothing major! In general everything look very clean!

The Antiguo Hotel Europa has great staff that is always willing to help, but that's about the only thing that's great about the hotel. The hotel was among the top rated but the amenities or lack of was what really got me. Lack of hot water, lack of enough towels, lack of a proper shower that doesn't leak a seeming "pool of water" outside of the bath tub that then requires the use of the only two provided bath towels to soak up the cold water on the floor. Lastly, the location was not at all in the nice(est) location as expected in the pictures. Simply not at all a hotel I would recommend staying at.

The hotel is well centric in the Colonial Zone. Have rooms that have a view to the street if you are ot disturb by the morning noise takes this room because it have a nice view for the morning activities. The breakfast was fine and is included. The price for the dinner and lunch are expensive. The restaurant is on the roof and is nice but you cant see to street. The place is remodel and is nice and have computers in the lobby. I order more towels to the room and bring them fast. This hotel is near everything historic you can imagine to visit. Try to find a local guide that for 5 to 10 dollars gives you a tour... remember a local independent guide. The hotel dont have a number and because the government are remodeling the streets I lost time trying to find the hotel. Be aware of people asking for money in the street, avoid or ignore them and enjoy the historic of the city. Use common security sense walking at night. When you go out from the main door of the hotel make a left.. thats the good area... dont make a right and walk 2 blocks because that the bad area.

It was a fine place. I would go there again. The location is great too.

Overall the most impressive thing about the hotel was the staff. Very professional and accommodating. The hotel itself is pretty adequate, rooms are small but clean. The breakfast wasn't bad either. Great location,
