My husband and I just spent 2 months at Villas de Palermo, for one month our daughter and her family joined us. This was the second year we went there and we really enjoyed our stay. The restaurant, the services, people being soooo kind :) Of course "the situation" in Nicaragua made the shuttle and the restaurant a little bit less available than last year, but the kindness of the personnel made us forget that! We felt very safe all the time, very welcome and we really hope to go back next year !
I just returned from a month’s stay at Palermo. The villas are beautiful, well maintained, and have fantastic views. The pool area is pristine and again offers an outstanding view. Staff is friendly and attentive and could not have been better. It really is a very, very nice place. The resort is both isolated from and a solid 40 minute walk to town, however, invariably in the heat, and it’s not a pretty or easy walk either. Definitely not what I expected. And while the resort offers a shuttle, they’ve cut back on the hours that it operates - and without telling me in advance - because of low occupancy due to the recent political crisis in the country, and the cost of cabs to and from town can really add up. Finally, while again the staff can’t be beat, the restaurant is expensive for what you get and there are many, many better options in town. I spent $15 for eggs, gallo pinto, orange juice and coffee, and for San Juan del Sur that is a LOT of money. The bottom line is that if you’re looking for very nice and quiet accommodations away from town, Palermo can’t be beat. Just be aware that that is what you are going to get: very nice and quiet accommodations away from town.
I spent two night in the Villas de Palermo with my family, we were placed at a villa where fit 7 persons perfectly, cleaning was excellent, all you need if you want cook, full equipped kitchen, furniture, bedrooms with air conditioning, terrace with a beautiful view, all the villa was comfortable, pool is small, you have all near to the villa, supermarket, San Juan bay is at 5 minutes. All our experience was totally satisfactory!
We stayed at the Villas for a week. We wish it was longer. A comfortable, spacious, safe and tranquil apartment with stylish fittings. A great base for us to explore San Juan del Sur . The staff were exceptionally friendly and frequently cleaning included, added to our relaxed vibe. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend and hope to return on our next trip to Nicaragua.
My family and I have stayed here a few times and every time has been a terrific experience. Staff is always very attentive, accomodations are beautiful and the food is phenomenal. Great service was provided by restaurant staff, Gaspar and Cooper. I hope to visit again and again.
Our wedding was a wonderful experience thanks to the amazing staff at Hotel Palermo. Jessica, the wedding coordinator, went above and beyond to ensure every detail was just the way we wanted. The food, the venue, the views, the accommodations, the people—everything about the stay was even better than we could have expected. We've spent a good amount of time in Nicaragua and can safely recommend this location for friends and family alike. We'll definitely be back, again and again. Pro tips: 1. Villa de Palermo is approximately one mile from San Juan Centro. It's a nice walk, but during the warmer months, you might want to take advantage of the free hourly shuttles (be sure to coordinate when you want your pickup and save the hotel phone number in your cell for emergencies). 2. The majority of the staff is bilingual, but having some basic Spanish is helpful. Or download Google translate on your smartphone to help with more challenging discussions/requests. 3. The villas are clean and modern, but you still might want to shake out folded sheets and towels before use, just in case a scorpion or centipede decided to take a nap (they like dark, cozy spots--welcome to Nicaragua). 4. The menu at Hotel Palermo is surprisingly tasty. Favorite breakfast item is the eggs benedict, favorite snack is the ceviche, and the pizza isnt too shabby if you're feeling in that sort of mood. 5. There is plenty of supplies for you to use to cook in your room as well, and the nearest grocer is just a half mile down the main highway toward San Juan Centro on your left if you're looking for fresh ingredients. 6. Favorite spots to hangout in San Juan are: The Art Warehouse (good coffee and vibes), La Lancha (great lunch and dinner spot, seafood is out of sight good), and Simon Says (smoothies and chill zone). 7. Best place to get a drink: everywhere! Walk into Michelinas grocery in San Juan and grab a couple Tonas for the road.
Excellent staff! Beautiful townhome with two bedrooms. Everything new and contemporary. Great A/C. Beautiful place. Only minor complain is that they sell you the ice. $7 for a 25lb (it’s the only option) bag including tax and tip which they added. We’re only here for a night therefore 95% of the bag will be left.
I visit Nicaragua every year whenever I have a chance! I went to Palermo by suggestions from french friends who had been there. Unlike other "fancy" places in San Juan del Sur and Tola, where you don't get a good treatment even if you pay well... they are often overwhelmed and not putting special attention to the art de vivre... At Palermo it was different: the staff made us feel comfty and happy! I'm very picky by nature but that didn't mean to bother them. We had the chance to call for the manager and she was so cheerful and nice.
Very good shuttle service to downtown and to beaches, free to and from villas, BUT be sure you let Guiermo know when you want to return before you let him get away. We did not have cell service to call or email and so had to take a taxi back. I especially felt bad because Guiermo had been very kind, even giving us a tour when we first arrived and several recommendations for eating. We did not realize when we booked that it was so far to the beach but the shuttle service made everything very accessible. The Villa we stayed in was very clean. We ate both dinner and breakfast at the restaurant and thought it was good value. Friendly staff.
We celebrated our wedding at Villas de Palermo and had a wonderful experience. Jessica, the wedding coordinator, was incredibly helpful over the whole planning period and the whole staff was friendly, flexible and helpful on the day before, day of the wedding, and day after. We requested a lot of personalizations and changes to the original wedding package, and everything was arranged/changed as requested. The ceremony on the beach was well-coordinated by Villas de Palermo through a different restaurant, and the reception at Villas de Palermo went smoothly (although it was VERY windy that night!). Our guests enjoyed the food on the wedding night. As a Nicaraguan-U.S. couple, we found that Villas de Palermo was a great choice for hosting all of our family and friends. Thank you to Jessica and the whole staff for all your help!
