There are not many alternatives in San Juan, so this hotel doesn't have to do much to stay in business. However, this is changing, new hotels and B&Bs are opening up as this region is becoming more popular travel destination. Villas de Palermo will have to upgrade with raising competition. The front desk staff will have to be trained to be a bit nicer and more attentive, the outdated villas will have to get upgraded, the attention to detail will have to be paid to, or this will not survive the competition.. It's close to town, but that's about all it can offer.
This is a great place to stay if you are looking to be away from the chaos near the beach. Our villa was spacious and comfortable. When we decided to go eat at the restaurant, my son and I sat by the pool. The wait staff were mocking guests the whole time and they even said, "this guy must have save for the whole month to come here". They must not have know I spoke Spanish and they weren't even whispering. I guess they are not too used to seen Hispanic or even local guests visit the property. Money is all the same, no matter who spends it. The food was very good quality.
Large spacious units, free shuttle to town, nice pool, would stay here again. Highly recommended. Bar & restaurant on premises but also full kitchen in units so can eat in too. Receptionist at front desk not the best
The villas are beautiful, spacious, comfortable and located on the hill overlooking the bay of San Juan del Sur. Ours was very well equipped for a long stay and was handed to us impeccably clean. The service however was awful - don't eat there or expect anything from staff, as guests/clients we felt we were treated as an inconvenience. In the Restaurant we ordered something but we were served a different inferior version of the dish without being given any notice and were still charged full price, the food was not noteworthy at all.
we rent a house for our stay at the resort for 2 month and had a great time the pool and bar it was grate to have access to this facility on a hot days. The shuttle service to town was very appreciated. staff is very plaisent and friendly same as most people in Nicaragua Thank you Rene & Manon
I absolutely loved this place. Everyone was so nice and helpful. They had happy hour drinks pretty much all day. We only planned to stay 4 days but we ended up being there for a week and a half! Downside is that in every place in San Juan del sur the power goes out regularly so hopefully they'll fix that soon. I would recommend they get BBQ's so you could still cook something during the power outage. The restaurant still has a generator so you could still order food there :D
This is my third time in San Juan and I really enjoyed staying at this place! Staff was amazingly accommodating! Really helpful in coordinating travel from airport and to other cities/local beaches. Pool was lovely. Food was pretty good, we did the all inclusive, not sure about the a la carte menu. Rooms were lovely! There were some bugs but its San Juan del Sur, kind of to be expected. Really liked this place and would stay again. Also it was one of the cheaper resorts in the area for very nice accommodations. You could probably not walk down to the pueblo of San Juan del Sur but rides were really easy to get from the hotel.
We really like the area and resort. We rented a car at the Airport in Managua and drove the 2.5 hrs to Villas de Palermo, good roads, light traffic, slow speeds, 60-90km most of the trip. Great resort, very quiet, separate units, 2 floors, 2 beds, 2 baths, 2 decks. Stayed in unit 27, short walk in, 125ft, hilly as you work your way up but very level at each tier. Lots of parking, and gated entry, security doing rounds regular, but no signs of trouble anywhere we went, through out the resort or town. Staff is great, pool is warm, food reasonable, $15 us for filet mignon, pizza $13 and will feed 2 of us. Free shuttle every hr, but never used, we have a car. It would be a good 30-40 Min walk to the town from our unit. There is a Pali grocery 5 min drive, 1/2 price compared to Canada at least. Apparently electricity is expensive, we have been able to minimize air conditioning as this is a additional cost, only ran for a couple hours before bed to cool the room, and good fans the rest. Lots of other tourists to talk with, mainly Spanish speaking, but there are a fair amount of English speaking people every where. We like the cultural experience of travel and really enjoyed this spot.
This property is a series of Villas that I think might be owned by individuals and rented out and managed by the Hotel. We stayed in Villa 1, which is a short walk to the pool and restaurant. Villa 1 does not have a view of the ocean and is next to the guarded entrance, so it can be a little noisy. The staff was very accommodating and offered to move us to a higher location villa, but we did not have a car and I was traveling with my 80 year old Dad. The dinner at the restaurant was excellent.
Hi! Thank you for the opportunity to write a review on Villas de Palermo. I checked in Feb. 12 with my husband and some friends. We stayed in one villa, the upper part (# 43). We had a great stay with the exception that we experienced a power outage something that happened the same night we were there, which was quite an inconvenience for logical reasons. However, I can say with all honesty that the staff went beyond themselves to make up for this incident (beyond their control) and moved us immediately to another villa so that we could continue enjoying our stay (for some reasons some villas had electricity, others didn't). I'm delighted to state here that the staff was very accommodating especially Arlen Acevedo from reservations, a very nice and kind lady; Bryan also a very nice, attentive person. Thank you guys, for treating us so well! The only criticism I would have is that the place must have a generator or some contingency plan for the power outage. Also, there are no umbrellas or enough chaiselonges around the pool. I'd also suggest having some sort of entertainment for guests while in the compound. Aside from the above, all in all, we enjoyed our stay and I'd highly recommend this place to friends. Carla Vanessa Morales
