The Clift Royal Sonesta Hotel

Is a old construction, nicely remodeled, rooms and bothroom are very small

Not ideal for business travelers, to say the least. The nightclub in the hotel was so loud on Saturday night, my entire room was shaking. The hallways and elevators were full of shady, drunken characters and more than once I felt unsafe in the elevator. The bathroom was tiny and the bathtub was disgusting, and the water did not drain properly, filling up the tub while I showered. The bed was comfortable and the staff were friendly.

The room was nice and clean but the Tab was not working.

The hotel tricks you with a nice loby. You would think that the rooms are nice as well.. I knew this was so st. regis or 4 seasons. However when i got my first room it smelled like wet carpets and i went downstairs and asked for a new room. I requested a renovated room that was not so old. I was told there had been no renovations to that hotel in 18 years..............UMMMM...What?? LOL. Rooms were no good. Last time i will stay here. Invest money in the property and make it better. The rooms should match the style of the lobby

Super nice hotel. Parking is expensive but that’s Anywhere in San Francisco.

The $15 for not having our room cleaned came with too many restrictions, not worth the trouble of not having clean sheets and towels

Really lovely staff & bar manager went above & beyond

Great location. The bar is more of a night club on Saturday night so don't expect a quiet drink. Room was clean but bathroom was tiny. It was fine for the price we paid.

Hotel was just as expected. Great room and great view.

Ugh. Pains me to write this as the Clift was one of my favorite hotels... I booked a stay recently not realizing that the ownership had changed. It was awful. You now see the remnants of what was one a great and stylish hotel, but the new management is completely out if touch as to what made this hotel special and they are destroying it with tacky details and poor service. Thus was a luxe luxury hotel where every facet of your experience was crafted to exude elevated hospitality. Now it looks and feels like it was swallowed by a cheap chain hotel. The ugly printed key cards. The gross understaffing. The obvious lack of upkeep and deferred maintenance throughout. All ruin the experience. It is simply not cool anymore. Sonesta needs to seriously reframe this investment, pull their awkward corporate rebranding, and get a clue as to what is special about this hotel before they destroy it completely.

Better explanation of the $15 vouchers for passing up daily room cleaning services. I found out at check out that you could only use one per day.

Good experience overall! What we loved about this hotel was the bikes they have available for guests. Great perk! What would make the experience even better, a good breakfast included on the fare, or at least coffee machines in the rooms... having to go down to the lobby for your coffee early in the morning does not quite fit in the concept of comfort.

After a cancelled reservation at another hotel, the Clift Hotel was a life saver. We were able to book the hotel last minute and check in within 30 minutes. I highly recommend!

The lobby area is very nice and the staff and service is great. The room itself looked a little older and it was clean but it looked like it had some wear and tear over the years. Overall a good stay but for the price, I thought it'd be nicer

Not only is this hotel right in the center of Union Square, but it’s over all feel is very relaxing and makes you feel like you’re on vacation. My only critical critique is that the rooms are a bit dated and do not match the decor of the overall hotel. However the room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. No complaints, I would definitely stay there again!

Convenient location. Good value for the price.I will stay again in the future and recommend the hotel to friends.

Hotel was very nice and staff was very friendly. I didn't have an awesome view though.

Greetings RoadWarrior, We appreciate your candid review. While we're glad you felt warmly welcomed by our team, and slept comfortably in our beds, we're sorry that noise kept you from getting the full rest you needed. We hope you let our front desk know of the issue with your bathtub, as they're eager to ensure all is in order in every room, and we'd love to welcome you back in the future to show you a more authentic Clift experience. Until then! With regards, The Clift
