La Pensione Hotel

In room number one, it was dark, musty and small. And the tv didn't work so we asked to be moved. In room number two was little bigger but still musty, tv worked but we were greeted by the biggest ROACH I have EVER seen. So in room number THREE. Still small and musty but not as bad as the previous two. Staff is not nice. Young, entitled millennials who don't care about customer service, only getting back to their cell phones. Will never stay here again

Great stay. Excellent location. Loved it! We had a beautiful view and even though the room was a bit small, it worked out very well for us. It was clean and the room itself had LOTS of character. The hotel’s location was ideal and we were able to walk everywhere. The nearby restaurants were fabulous and it was great to be close to the beach, the zoo and the airport.

I reserved two rooms, both with king size beds. When I got there they had no king sized beds only two doubles in a room. There was no excuse fro this. I made the reservation early, I arrived early for check in, the problem was they gave the room to the person who paid the higher price when the room was booked. Money talks BS walks

Good location but the front desk person was not too hospitable when we checked in. We were early and he was not happy about it. We just wanted to drop off our bags and it it felt like a chore on his end. The room was clean but small. No long mirror, only a small one in bathroom. The carpet looked clean but you could still see a lot of stains throughout the walking areas. We didn't have a car with us so didn't need parking. However we had friends come meet up and we asked if they could use our space and they said they gave it away. Strange.

La Pensione was a great experienced for us. Stayed one night as a couple. Easy to walk around Little Italy and to the Gaslamp District. Hotel staff were nice and helpful. Found free street parking for the night pretty quickly. The room was small but very clean and modern, and the bed was comfortable. They gave us a voucher for a free coffee and pastry in the morning at the cafe next to the lobby. Overall very positive experience, would use again and recommend!

The hotel was at the heart of little Italy. The staff was friendly and the rooms were great.

We stayed for 4 nights. Walking for us is no problem so from Little Italy we walked to the pier, downtown, and to Balboa Park. For us it was a perfect location without being touristy.

had to pay for parking along with parking away from the hotel.

1 queen bedroom very small. Our room had an odor. Our bed sheets had stains. Carpet also had stains. Shower ceiling didn't look clean. No hotel parking!

Single queen rooms are very small, barely enough room to move around. I had requested a room with a balcony but upon arrival they had none available. When laying in bed one night a GIANT cockroach went crawling across the wall. Different times during the day and night sounded like someone was jackhammering through the wall. Room wasn't the cleanest, phone looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months, pendant lights hadn't been dusted for awhile. Parking is minimal, 20 spots in hotel underground parking, otherwise street parking is available with max time being 2 hours ($2.50) at a time so you have to continue to feed meters until 6pm. I had to park 1.5 blocks away from hotel and drag luggage back to hotel.

I was in San Diego for a conference at the convention center. This was a great place to stay and a good value. The trolley line is nearby and went straight to the convention center. The room was clean and the floor (2nd) was generally quite (I was there sunday through thursday). A good stay for me.

Location is great! Walking distance to all restaurants in little Italy and quite close to the pier. Rooms on the small side, felt a bit cramped. Everything was clean. Great coffee shop downstairs with free wifi in the courtyard.

The room the was super cute and comfortable. Me and my fiance really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in a great spot, many restruants, not too far from sea world and the zoo. We would definitely stay again.

Cute, hidden gem in Little Italy. Perfect for a romantic get away cute rooms, close to excellent food. Loved it!

This is a cute hotel in a really great location. Our room was small, but didn't feel cramped, and was very clean & comfortable. The location was excellent- right in the heart of Little Italy, and pretty close (20 min walk) to the gaslamp district. Front desk staff was friendly & attentive, making checking in/out a breeze. My only complaints are that #1, there's no coffee maker in the room (not that big of a deal), & #2, parking was a small nightmare. The hotel lot was completely full, so we had to drive around (for at least 1/2 hr) trying to find a parking place. We did eventually find a valet lot a block or 2 away (a pain lugging our bags back) that let us park over night for $25. All in all, we had a great time, and the pros far outweigh the cons here.

I only call name my review beware for one reason the overnight watch lady was very very mean, and wasn't a good hostess at all. She was snappy and looked like she was under the influence. She made me very uncomfortable and I left earlier than I was going to because of her.

I hotel was clean and in a great location. My only complaint is that the room was very small for the amount I paid. The staff were very nice and polite. The hotel and room was very clean.

Love this Little Italy location in the heart of the area. Extremely small rooms, (euro-small) but renovated rooms. No coffee maker, no full length mirror. Tiny garage parking for tiny cars. Great service. Restuarant connected. $15 for parking-2014/15. I would get 4th floor facing north looking over Little Italy for a cool view. Price was great for downtown location. Not a good place if you have a kid staying with you in the room not a lot of room to move. For a date night, or bussiness would be suitable.

The room was tiny and dirty. It looked like no one had vacuumed it since the last guest.

I enjoyed my stay here! Beautiful decorations, friendly staff and good location. The rooms are on the smaller side so it might not work as well for some families, but I found it to be the perfect size for my boyfriend and I. A lovely place, for a lovely price!
