The hotel is lovely in many ways and although we found problems with the room, don't let that put you off of staying here. Good location with the ferry to the main town a short step away, beautiful gardens, lovely owner, excellent breakfast (no choice) with a view of the river ( we saw an otter). But and here comes the downside. Our room was Black and more black/ Who paints a room black and them lights it with a couple of 5watt bulbs. This is the only hotel where I had to use the torch facility on my phone to see to unpack. One side of the bed had black steps leading up to it and getting out in the middle of the night was hazardous. Black steps in a black room with limited lighting was nearly dangerous. When we asked for extra lighting we were given two bottles of water and a pack of tissues. Slightly bizarre. Bathroom was good and everything else worked. However, we were there for three nights and the room was not cleaned once. But, just repaint the room ( next door was white and lovely) and all will be well.
This is our second time in 5 months we visited here. The restaurant is next to the river so it is very great location if you are looking for some place to chill out. There are about 10 tables on the edge next to the river that you can sit on the floor and enjoy the atmosphere right next to the river and breeze. Good for both easy-relaxed drinking or romantic dinner. Delicious local Thai food. Not too complicated to arrive even you don't have your own transportation.
We stayed in just for one night but if we could have more time we would definitely stay more! Location of the resort is not in the busy city centre but close enough to get there fast and discover. That place is close to floating markets as well. Our cabin was so cozy. It had everything we need... Wi Fi works perfectly and our bungalow was not close to the reception. Staff here is so friendly and helpful. Always smiling and welcoming us warmly. Excellent breakfast with mini buffet and set menu. You can chose between eggs and two kind of soups. Fresh bread, croassaints and rain buns are also included. If we will ever visit this place make sure to stay with them.
Second time, in this hotel. The hotel is far from everything, it is a complete silence around. The scenic around the restaurant is just perfect. Small details, bring some mosquitos repellant as there is a quite a lot of them there.
We stayed here for a night before the Platu Mini-marathon in December. The weather was cool in the evening, and they have a cozy waterside dining area that made me want to laze there forever! Since we have been to the Amphawa market before, we totally skipped the market for the waterside dinner at the Legend. The bed was large enough for 3 people (2 adult and 1 kid), in a high-rised Thai house, decorated like an olden days. Everything in the room functioned well. Perhaps dinner was served too slow, with faster service, I would have given 5 stars. In the morning, do walk to the pier nearby and take a ferry across Maeklong river to the Romhoop market. They have many tasty foods and freshest seafood at best prices.
This place really made our Thailand trip our most memorable vacation - can't wait to return! The staff treats you like family & goes out of their way to help you in any way they can. The rooms are very homey, clean & comfy & very reasonably priced. Easy walk to the fairy that quickly takes you across river to Maeklong city. Tuk tuks, taxis or longboats are just a call away.
We had a very enjoyable stay with The Legend Maeklong. Very helpful staff. We arrived late and the staff walked us to the jetty down the road to take a ferry that takes us to the other side of the river (where the market is located) for some dinner. Hotel is very near to the Maeklong Train Market. The staff also made arrangements for a private boat to bring us from the hotel to Amphawa River Market.
This place is perfect if you are looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway close to Bangkok. It is a boutique style hotel, so do not expect anything fancy. The hotel is situated on the Mae Klong river. It is only 15-20mins drive from Don Hoi Lot, in case you stop there for a lunch break. The Amphawa floating market is also about the same time away. The hotel offers both rooms in boutique styles and rooms in Thai style house. We stayed in room Amphawa 3, which is in the Amphawa house (Thai style). We had a king-size bed with a small TV (but who needs TV here anyway?). Shower worked well, same as the aircondition. Both the hotel surroundings and the room were well kept and clean. After visiting the floating market, we spent the whole evening at the hotel restaurant, where you can sit down and enjoy the atmosphere of the riverside community. Breakfast was superb. We got to choose between American breakfast (two fried eggs, two pieces of toast with butter and jam, ham and sausages) or Thai style rice porridge (either with seafood or pork). For either style of breakfast, we also got some Chinese doughnuts and some cut watermelons. The orange juice served was also fresh pressed!
We really enjoyed our stay here! The staff was excellent. Very helpful. On the morning we were leaving even though the kitchen did not open until 7am, the staff was up with us at 5am to cook us a breakfast. So kind of them!!! The food is great, the rooms are very comfortable. The air cons work great. Just remember you are in a natural setting so night time sounds include croaking frogs and squeaking geckos! You do need to take a boat everywhere but it is so easy and relaxing to float down the river to various temples and markets.
This is a small, Thai-style, place with small, riverside, open-air restaurant. There are 8-10 rooms. Our room # 3 has a huge king-size bed which almost fills the room. The mattress is very hard. There is a refrigerator, TV, and a small, efficient, bathroom with shower (no tub). Excellent a/c. There are no chairs or stools, no shelves or drawers; the suitcase goes on the floor. Very clean. Nicely landscaped, with several benches, on a narrow lot. The food is quite good but not worth a special trip. Service is good. You can arrange a river tour on a small boat from the hotel dock (difficult boarding at low tide, fine at high tide). You can arrange this to include an interesting evening firefly tour.
