We ended up leaving soon after we arrived for our 2 night stay, once we managed to get the door open (which took some time and multiple tries). Dozens of crane flies were inside, dirt and debris were on the floors and counters (someone missing pearl beads from a necklace? It's probably still across the living and dining room floors), hairs etc were in the primary bathroom and no lights worked in the primary bedroom. We attempted to messages photos and text to the owner with zero response. It's been several weeks and still no response. We did get automated messages asking how our stay was going and, on what would've been the last day of our stay, they messaged checkout instructions. We contacted VRBO and the owner hasn't gotten back to them either so I've disputed the charge to my credit card company. The space was clearly a rushed job of cleaning (I use that term loosely), and not sure that the window sills or baseboards had been touched in quite a while as they were filthy. The lack of response and automated messages were just beyond basic hospitality. This shouldn't be able to be listed as a rental property.
