`Home Place on the Maury` is nestled in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley and fronting the scenic Maury River. The logs of this charming cabin date back to the 1700`s. The home features 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a spacious living room and dining room with an additional upstairs family room and office area. Unwind on the main level wrap-around porch with large screened area or on the upstairs screened porch. Sip a glass of wine by one of two fireplaces. Kayak the river or enjoy a lazy float downstream.

The 15+acre property features plenty of room for picnics or family gatherings. A secluded outdoor deck with a fireplace is perfect for cool evenings. Two kayaks w/helmets and multiple floats help guests to enjoy the magnificient Maury River.

`Home Place on the Maury` is located 9 miles from historic Lexington VA which features Virginia Military Institute, Washington & Lee University and the Virginia Horse Center. Enjoy the quaint shops downtown, the incredible restaurants, Lime Kiln Outdoor Concert venue (summertime), historic Hull`s Drive-in Theater and the horse-drawn carriage rides!

There are a multitude of hiking trails nearby.

Rooms are not very clean, a lot of dust and bugs everywhere in a bedrooms. Kitchen also dirty, kayaks outside was dirty , fishing rods broken , trash was left from previous guests downstairs! Grill not works on a day we check in. Patio area is full of pet hair everywhere on a floor , chairs and tables! Location is nice ! Housekeeping service is terrible! For the price we paid we expected to have more.

We had a magical experience in this cottage on the Maury River. The home was lovely, and the yard and river were perfect for our family and dog. We enjoyed canoeing, kayaking, and swimming on the river. The kitchen was really well-equipped for cooking, and we enjoyed grilling. We spent a lot of time on the decks, The screened in portions were particular lovely in the evening. This secluded spot was perfect for the six of us. We highly recommend it. Our dog, a standard poodle, loved running through the multiple acres of mowed, tree-covered yard.
