Sunny mansard in the heart of Old Town

Airy Scandinavian style apartment. Professionally refurbished and decorated by owners. Ideal stay for a couple, family of four or close friends in the middle of Old Town.

For centuries space used to be an attic warehouse with 15th century wooden beams kept exposed and integrated into interior. It has been refurbished in 90ties into a one bedroom living space but has kept the rustic character and feel of an original warehouse.

Historically building belonged to land property with 6 residential buildings constructed in 14-19 century. Of which the 14th century stone building with our attic apartment is the only one that survived from the medieval Russian trade settlement. In 1537 when it re-appeared in Riga real estate book entries, it was marked as Ernst van Mengden's residential building. Mengdens (German: von Mengden) is an ancient Baltic German family known in Livonia since the 15th century and was recorded in Vidzeme and Estonia Knighthood's matricula.
The apartment is heated and features a kitchen and space to spread out with a separate bedroom. Other standard amenities include a washing machine, a coffee maker, and an ironing board.

Sunny mansard was outstanding!! We LOVED the location, and were very thankful for the parking spot. The amenities for the apartment were perfect - the kitchen was well appointed and the bathroom had very nice amenities. The bed was very comfortable and our daughters slept comfortably on the couch. We loved our stay and really hope to stay there in the future. We highly recommend!!

We really enjoyed our stay. The apartment has everything you need, very thoughtfully and tastefully furnushed. Location is amazing, we loved the outhentic experience of staying on Old Town Riga. Guntis is a great host, communication was top notch, very responsive and prompt. If we are back, we would definitely stay there again.

This beautiful apartment is in a lovely part of Riga’s historic centre. It comes fully equipped with everything needed for a short or long stay, and the host is immediately responsive to every question. We felt at home immediately and enjoyed a very restful four days visiting Riga. We could have stayed several days more and been very happy! The only caution is for people with mobility issues or carrying heavy luggage. The apartment is at the top of three sets of winding stairs, and the last set is a metal spiral staircase. Anything larger than a carry-on bag or backpack will be a challenge to bring up or down. It was not a problem for us — we have learned to travel light after years of trial and error — but it is worth knowing! Thank you to the hosts for providing such a charming and comfortable space.

Die Wohnung liegt sehr zentral und ruhig in der schönen Altstadt von Riga.Sie ist sehr sauber, gut ausgestattet und gemütlich eingerichtet. Die Gastgeber waren sehr freundlich und umgehend in der Kommunikation.Der Zugang mit mehreren Codes mutet an Fort Knox an und erscheint in der Beschreibung schwierig, ist aber letztendlich einfach. Der Treppenaufstieg, besonders der letzte Teil mit Wendeltreppe, ist eventuell für ältere Menschen und mit Gepäck nicht ganz einfach. Wir waren begeistert von diesem Wohnort in Riga.

Mitten in der Altstadt

Wir haben den Aufenthalt in Riga sehr genossen! Die Wohnung ist gut ausgestattet und sehr zentral gelegen - das bedeutet im Sommer auch einen gewissen Lärmpegel von der Straße, der für uns aber völlig ok war. Die Kommunikation mit dem Gastgeber war super, wir konnten früher einchecken. Auf Nachfragen und Probleme wurde schnell reagiert. Wer sehr viel Gepäck hat, sollte die schmale Treppe nach oben bedenken.
