The hotel is on Main street, so within walking distance to many things, which is nice. We had a room on the back side of the building so it was quiet other than the general noise of life. The outside of the property was deceiving, as it was under construction, but the interior was clean and updated. We had a very early flight so we did not get to experience the breakfast option. It did not have coffee or tea, which may have been an oversight.

It was very inconvenient not to have an elevator to the upper floor. I am compromise in lifting, and it was a problem. I also encounter two other individuals struggling with their luggage. A good price for a nights stay should not compromise your health.

The room was clean and worked out for us. Staff is lacking and communication is poor. It was listed as having a restaurant. A continental breakfast was available but no other meals. We were directed to a restaurant down the street ( Rain) which was very good. A complimentary shuttle to and from the airport is available. Distance to Keflavík airport is about 10 minutes by car.

Wonderful host and respite

We had an unexpected medical emergency on our flight to Iceland, where we were only supposed to have a short layover before continuing on to Berlin. After an ambulance ride and a hospital visit, we were thankfully cleared to fly—but our rescheduled flight wasn’t until the next morning. Exhausted and in need of rest, we searched for a place to stay and found Hotel Keilir in Keflavík. Check-in wasn’t until 3 PM, but when we explained our situation, Pryndiss at the front desk went above and beyond to help us. She kindly arranged to have a room cleaned and ready immediately so we could check in at 9 AM. And also provided us with a light breakfast. Thanks to her warmth and hospitality, we were able to have the restful, restorative day we desperately needed. To top it off, Pryndiss ensured our 5 am shuttle to the airport next morning was on time so we could make our flight to Berlin. That level of kindness is rare, and we will never forget it. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet, but what truly makes Hotel Keilir special is the people. If you’re looking for a place that not only provides comfort but also genuine care, I can’t recommend this hotel highly enough.

We arrived shortly before 4:00 and check in was handled quickly with friendly conversation. We were only there for one night and they recommended the restaurant Ráin which was very good as well as a taxi booked for us for the next mornings trip to the airport. Would stay again.

What we liked: the view from the room. And TV had English TV stations. The bathroom wasn't comfortable, because there was no place to put your toiletries. And in the bedroom were no drawers to place your clothes, only a desk. The personnel were rude and nasty.The only person that tried to help us when we got to the hotel was Nicolai. There was an old man there, too, he even wouldn't talk to us...he ignored us, kind of creepy, like a character of a horror movie, very unpleasant situation. The breakfast was very poor and this old man was the one taking care of it with his dirty hands and dirty clothes... like he just jumped out of bed... And when was time for the shuttle...oh my!! you needed to leave at the time they said, not when you needed, if you have more than one suitcase...be aware...they don't like that. Anyway, we won't go back to that hotel, for sure!!! If you book with them it will be under your own risk!! Guest be aware!!!

This hotel is good value for those making a brief stop-over in Iceland. It is conveniently located to the airport (not Reykjavík). If you are polite, the front desk will go out of their way to help and advise you. I do have a minor suggestion, though: the showers should have soap dishes.

The nice curtins kept us sleeping soundly in the north where there is a great deal of light

A little gem in Keflavík.

This was a lovely little find in Keflavík. Comfortable, no frills, right beside the sea. And the kindness shown to me by the owners was just lovely.
