I needed to visit Duke for personal reasons and was hoping to find a convenient hotel. This one was very affordable at the time, and had a decent rating on Orbitz. So I decided to book it. To my surprise, it was extremely modern, clean, and trendy. The value was wonderful. I would recommend it!
The hotel was under construction for renovations and there was no vending machines, no ice, and most importantly no restaurant open. We were not planning to eat anywhere else but the restaurant in the hotel- so that was extremely upsetting. It seemed that everything was squished onto the 8th floor including the service desk. The room was nice and clean. The bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately, the walls between rooms were very thin and I could hear someone coughing incessantly most of the night as well as hear some talking. Not restful! The shuttle service was good and the drivers were probably the best thing out of my hotel experience. Very friendly guys!
Even though rooms were available on remodeled floor, Front desk did not honored our request, gave room in older rooms. Cleaning staff asked " do you want anything extra" and when we said " no", they interpreted that room, bed, bathroom, nothing needed to clean and room was left uncleaned when we came back at night.
Unfortunately the hotel is going through major repairs. Refrigerator made a lot of noise but I unplugged it. Sirens and helicopters made a lot of noise but fortunately I slept through it. But had all essentials for a comfortable night.
The staff was very friendly and pleasant , kind, courteous and helpful. They even called our room to make sure everything to make sure the room was to our liking and even went so far as to see if we needed anything . Our room was extremely neat and clean . As some of the other reviews pointed out , it was a little darted. Example - tge microwave was an older model, but that didn't bother me. It worked fine. The bathroom was extremely neat and clean . Thank you. We had breakfast in the hotel which was very good. My daughter even commented on how good the finch toast was. As we were checking out I overheard the lady in front of us talking to the desk attendant . She was so nice and helpful, going above and beyond to suit the woman's needs. Thank you for a pleasant stay .
We came in from Atlanta for the Duke football game. Overall this hotel is in a perfect location for Duke Sports or Duke Medical Center related activities. It has a shuttle that runs a 3mile radius and a diner on site (we only ate breakfast there and it was yummy - think Waffle House). I did a good bit of research on hotels and the proximity to the stadiums but not may reviewers put that info in their comments section. We chose this hotel solely based on that and it was perfect for what we needed. Shuttle took us every night to either W Main Street or the 9th Street districts. Plenty to do, shops & eats. We will be back. #goduke
What a great hotel better then some chains we have stayed in. We were going to Duke Hospital which was right down the street. They have a shuttle that will take you and pick up service. I cannot say enough about all the employees one was nicer then the next one. What a excellent staff. Room was very clean, towels thick better then some chains we have stayed in. We will definitely stay here every time we have to go to that area. Thanks for everything!!!
As a Duke alum coming in for a night game, this was perfect. The walk from here to Cameron is not bad at all, though probably tough if it is very cold or raining. Great value and location. Rooms were exceptionally clean.
Great Location! Money saver when in the area! Rooms are clean, and I feel safe when walking around the area. I would recommend this place to anyone stay in town for a few days.
Hotel staff was nice and helpful. Room was super clean. Nice complimentary coffee, tea, cookies. Location is great for those who need to go to Duke Hospital or Duke University.
Clean, simple, and close to Duke. Very good value.
Hi, I was visiting Duke University and stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is located right across the Duke Hospital. The DATA bus stops are very closely located to the hotel. Just about a few steps across the road. In fact visible from the hotel. The hotel does an excellent job of providing a free shuttle pickup/ drop around. This was very helpful to me. It is pretty walkable from TGIF, Enzio's, Chipotle etc.. The complementary cookies are icing on the cake experience. I strongly recommend people visiting duke to check out this hotel.
Staff, location and value were great. The rooms need to revitalized though.
Great place to stay. Has a shuttle to the game, but shuttle stops at 5, so if game is latter. Your on your own. Wasn't a problem though, cost 15 bucks to get there.
Overall the room was clean, however the beds were hard and uncomfortable. Staff were outstanding!
I was travelling to Duke for an interview and this place was very conveniently located. There is no other hotel that could be more accessible. Amenities are just basic. Rooms are clean. Staff helpful. No complimentary breakfast. They have a shuttle to drop you off within the campus. Overall, good value. Will stay there again if I have to travel there.
room was fine for our time in the room but the in house dining was over priced and poor quality
The front desk is so-so, not friendly, but OK. The problem is that my room actually was in a separate building which did not have any front desk. The biggest problem is the room has strong smoke smell even though it is a non-smoking room. The internet connection was interrupted frequently. Front desk could not help me on that. No shampoo the first night until I asked for it the next night. Somewhat disappointed with the service comparing to the price tag.
Stayed one night. Efficient check in and out. Room was fine.
