Price OK.We were super happy when we were told that we were upgraded VIP floor. However,we did not have access to any of the facilities in the club which indeed closed early.swimming pool looks nice but BE AWARE you need a swimming cap!!! Location close to the Olympic marina. 10 Km away from old town so bear that in mind when booking there as what you are looking for in Qingdao.Nevertheless, taxi is cheap and plenty of options at the door to move around and SUPER IMPORTANT staff speaks good english!!
Location was decent - May 4th Square and Shopping Malls within walking distance, Carrefour across the street, Airport bus beside hotel. Metro line 3 is close, line 2 is under construction just nearby. Another thing I noticed was a minimum to no waiting time at the elevators when ascending from the lobby, but not so when descending to the lobby. So this was good and bad. However the hotel was subpar on just about everything else. Rooms were old, we first had a double room with 2 twins, then they moved us the club floor with 1 large king, but room was same size (kind of like Hong Kong but expect room sizes to be bigger here). Room service was slow, we only asked for a bucket of ice a few times, but needed more than 15-20 min! So we just ate out or ordered normal delivery food. The hotel boasted 5 on site restaurants, but they were all closed when we tried to eat there (around 9 pm). The breakfast was pretty similar to what you get at mid level hotels, however they claimed not to be able make omelets on the day we left. Even though I had them previous days. All summed up, Location is great but don't expect too much if you decide to stay here. Staying here during summer holiday peak time is overpriced.
Where to start? Depressing room with bad lighting/air, crappy gym, bad WiFi, ... and the icing on the cake was the fake massage service! When leaving the gym on the 3rd or 4th floor (I don't remember exactly which), I saw a desk with a sign "massage". I was very happy because I had issues with my legs/hips. When I told the woman at the desk I wanted a massage she called another woman, and instead of getting me a bed there for the massage, she told me we have to go to my room. Well, foolish me, I thought OK, maybe that is how they do it in China. She had absolutely no idea how to give a massage and tried several times to entice me into a "happy ending" (or was it a "happy beginning" because it didn't take her five minutes to propose that) ignoring my firm answer I don't want that. I am not a puritan and have no issues with people buying/selling sexual favors, if they want to. But I think a hotel that has a big sign at the reception claiming to be "an official bla bla of the Beijing Olympics" should at least ensure the services that are provided inside their hotel are legit. Disappointed!
How to say it.... I many time choose Millennium group hotels in Singapore, Bangkok, Wuxi and elsewhere. This Copthorne hotel was corporate rate my company, and so decided to give it a try; also because the "ranking on tripadviser" (6th out of all Qingdao hotels) did not raise any questioning.. Well, how to say. The hotel did on several points not meet my expectation, for 5* experience: 1. decoration definitely need overhaul. rooms are clean but carpet is "lived" and furniture is "dated". 2. minibar empty 3. TV channels have the international news, but no movie channels like HBO or other. 4. I had a midnight arrival. On entering the room, the electricity for room light, room power and aircon not worked. Had to call for assistance to check it out. Turned out some fuses in mainfuse box in clauset turned off. I can understand the hotel put off for the rooms "not in use"; but definitely should be secured/checked for "put it on" before guest check-in-arrive. It became even more frustrating, because front desk nightshift person not good English understanding. Given the TOP location in Qingdao (Close to center and sea shore), with improvements to the above, this hotel could do much better, living up to "my other Millenium experiences". The bed was between soft-hard to hard. Not my preference but had a good rest sleep anyway. The air conditioning and wifi were working perfect; for noise had to turn down to low airfan speed at sleep. The breakfast, I could do my usual scrambled veggy egg, orange juice, salad and yoghurt. But also here, I had the overall feeling/experience of "China branded 5*" hotel. For me, there are better options arround, not so much depending on LOCATION.
I stayed in this Hotel from 26th to 28th March, centrally located, Clean & Good Rooms. Excellent & very helpful staff. Breakfast is ok & very near to the hotel is Mc Donald, Pizza Hut & KFC. There is also a underground market just outside the Hotel.
Although it looks impressive when looking at photos or entrance to the hotel. But is not that because there are a lot of minis. Nearby is not decorated. It is quite and around one big construction site. The interior of the Hotel needs a lot of new details, but it is also and us rooms. I must however add that the bed spacious and to a good sleep. Location. Not far from the central beach. But for some better restaurants should take a taxi. Breakfast has everything, but nothing specific to boast.
Well located, near big shopping centre, opposite carrefour. First night realised air con supplying natural air, was told no cold air around 6 Oct onwards. room stuffy and warm (better check before booking). Manage to loan a portable cooler than needs to refill in the night. Only one set of soap n shampoo despite 2 guests. Key cards that need constant replacement. below expectation.
Located five minutes away by walking from the sea side the Hotel, besides having a huge, impressive entrance hall, is definitely old and particularly rooms haven't been renewed for some years. Mini bar was empty. Again and as usual I cannot comment on the breakfast since I never get one. Close to the Hotel, apart from the beautiful seaside there are banks, Starbucks, a shopping mall and a Carrefour mall in case. Staff is gentle and helpful. It took me like 1h 20 minutes from Qingdao Airport to arrive here and paid like 110 RMB or 17 USD approx. Qingdao's building a new Metro right now, hopefully connected to the Airport too.
the hotel is not bad, small but nice room. Awful breakfast for the ones who are used to have an occidental meal.. Very convenient the location! Five minutes far from the seaside, near the starbucks, and close to the isense mall
Love this hotel, been visiting over 6 years and every time is good. My highlight is breakfast with a full selection of Chinese and western styles. Rooms comfortable, quiet and clean. Staff always helpful.
