Tortuga Bay Hotel was exactly what we needed! This was our first time to DR and can’t believe we missed so many years of vacationing here. The people, service, and views are some of the best we have experienced and rival that of Hawaii and many other Caribbean islands. It is the perfect place to unplug, relax, and reconnect for a long weekend get away. It is low season and you feel it. We must be one of only a handful of other couples staying at the resort. But, there are only a 15 or so Villas and I can’t imagine this place ever feeling crowded. We are typically the only ones at the beach or pool making it feel like our own private paradise. Service is quick and impeccable. Everyone receives there own local cell phone and the Village Manager is just a quick call away for anything you need. The restaurants so far have been great. Bamboo, the chef came out and suggested a few things not on the menu which were great. Bachata Rosa at the Blue Mall was fun and a quick drive away. Expect to pay for food and drink but not any different than a typical night out in NYC. I’ve read about the seaweed problems, and it is real but did not impact our weekend at all. They are constantly tending to it and is a country wide issue from what I can tell. There is a white barrier a hundred or more feet out that may bother some as they try to minimize the inflow of seaweed, but we could easily look past it and did not really bother us. Besides beach and pool, Spa was amazing as was the Natural Lagoons at the Reserve. I’m sure there is more to do (zip lining and other adventure parks for example) but I would recommend a relatively short trip as it does seem limited in that respect. I would recommend Tortuga Bay Hotel for couples who need a break from their busy lives to relax, unplug, and reconnect.

After hearing all the fantastic reviews I left a bit disappointed. The hotel itself is lovely and the beach area is beautiful and quiet. The only let down was the food. For the amount of money you are paying I expected the food to be top quality. Once again the food was very average. Our favourite restaurant was la Yola however for the awards received we expected bamboo to be amazing. However it was very average. After staying at Eden roc you cannot compare the two hotels. Even though they have a lot of staff cleaning the beach area you can tell the hotel will have problems during seaweed season. Most of the staff were very professional however two staff members were very arrogant. When we got to the checkout they informed us that a laundry bag was missing. We used it for our wet swimsuits. We have stayed in hundreds of hotels and have never been asked to give the laundry bag back. When your are paying around USD 1,000/ night you wouldn’t expect the hotel to check if you took a laundry bag which probably costs one dollar. After staying in other hotels in Punta Cana I would not go back. I would would give an overall rating of 7/10 with the food being a major let down.

Our family (includes 2 tween boys) stayed here over Spring Break and it was amazing. This resort is one of the top we've experienced anywhere in US/Europe/Caribbean. The service you receive just stepping off the airplane is 1st class- and that continues on the way to hotel and all during your stay. The villas are beautiful and sit right on the ocean, where you have your own private beach (sharing with just the guests staying in the 13-or maybe it's 15- other villas). The resort is cosy, high-end, pristine, beautiful, remote and warm. The staff takes great pride in their work and provide high-quality, professional service. Be prepared for "dominican time' as we did have to wait for food and beverage but that is part of the culture. All the food/drink is worth the wait. Each villa has its own 'villa manger' who will be in constant contact with you (via a given cell phone) to accommodate all your needs. We even had a BBQ outside our room 2 nights we stayed. It was truly amazing. We did eat at a few of the other restaurants associated with the hotel, but found the main restaurant (Bamboo) the best. Breakfast (included) every morning was wonderful and chef will make you something else if it's not out for you. The service at the beach is amazing and you have their attention constantly (again just be prepared to wait for food/drink). The spa is very nice. There is plenty of golfing and tennis. There are also 2 workout facilities to use. This type of trip is best for those that want to unplug and immerse themselves in the culture, slower pace and tranquility of Punta Cana.

I have travelled all over the world. Tortuga is a world class 5 star hotel. Intimate. Luxurious. Attentive service. Amazing rooms. I mentioned it was my gf birthday and that night we had a birthday cake celebration in our room at night. Food. Service , spa. All of it incredible.

I rarely write reviews but I had to for Tortuga bay. This is one the best resorts I’ve stayed at by far. From the minute you land (vip service will wait for your right when you get off the plane and walk you right through customs). Hotel service was top notch. Can’t wait to go back again.

My wife and I had the pleasure of eating at Bamboo Restaurant in Tortuga Bay. What a wonderful experience! The food and atmosphere were outstanding; However the thing that put this particular experience over the top was Cesar who attended to us throughout the evening like we were this family. He made us feel welcome and comfortable. It is people like Cesar that make the difference in the way we experience a special place like Bamboo, so much so that the passion he has for what he does and how he interacts with people, is uplifting. We will cherish our memories from Bamboo and we will recommend it to anyone wanting the experience the best in Punta Cana. We look forward to our next visit.

I booked this hotel from a third party travel site that I use frequently and thought nothing of it until i read a google review that said beware they will cancel your reservation without warning. I called the resort and to my surprise they didn't honor my reservation 8 days before my trip I get this news and they could care less. I was told to contact the booking agent and they didn't care and it wasn't there problem. I never got an explanation as to why our reservation wasn't honored my guess was the great rate I was given with that being said be careful you do not wanna travel to your destination without a place to stay. Thank God made it right I was upgraded to TRS Cap-Cana All Inclusive ocean view suite and me and my wife enjoyed our stay there.

Everything you want in a vacation. No crowds and the staff takes care of your every need. By the time you think of something you may want, they have already thought of that. Your Villa Manager can help you with anything. Breathtaking ocean & property views - love the orchids! Breakfast buffet is fabulous. Bicycles, golf carts for getting around the area to different restaurants, spa, golf course, or Eco reserve to swim in the cenote or go for a nature walk. Try Yola restaurant at the Marina for great seafood and waterfront dining. Hated to leave.

We love the professional, relaxed and friendly service. Our accomodations included a spacious bedroom with French balconies, 2 terraces including one with a jacuzzi and his-n-hers bathrooms and a “to die for” beach view. The beach is fabulous as is the service. Food quality and creativity are world-class. We enjoyed the Spa and cycling around the entire area. Direct flights to Punta Cana Airport are convenient and flight schedules are plentiful. We stayed for 10 days and plan to return next year.

For many years my wife and I in the winter leave the colder climates and vacation in the Caribbean. We generally stay at Trip Advisor top rated facilities. We stayed at Tortuga Bay Hotel and Resort in one of their beach front villas. Upon arrival we were met at the gate and escort direct to luggage pick up. All immigration and customs by passed (no lines). Check in was personal and we were introduced to our on duty Villa Manager (Brainham & Eric). The Vila Manager(s) were great. They reviewed reservations made recommendations for others depending on our preferences. Al were great selections. They gave us a phone with direct line to their phones. They provided golf cart and bicycles at our vila with recommendations of places to explore. Room service was twice a day with turn down service. Our first morning we were sitting on the porch with our morning espresso when Roselin stop by and asked if we would like some American coffee. We accepted and he then asked if we would like coffee every morning. Every morning at the requested time we have fresh coffee delivered to our ocean front porch. The facilities and grounds were beautifully maintained.On the beach the first day no sooner than we showed up on beach when to beach attendants are putting out towels on our lounge chairs. They had a beach golf cart where they set out water bottles in an ice bucket and kept the bucket with ice periodically throughout the day. The cart had beverages and brought us snacks from the restaurant. The Villa Managers recommended some restaurants that all were fabulous. If you are a golfer the courses were as good as it gets if not golfer just riding along the the course is worth it. They roads within the 15,000+ acres were better than most highways in America. They had dedicated paved golf and bike paths that went for miles. Departure was as first class as the stay. They put our bags on their van and we did not touch them again. Again we walked by all lines and the resort has their own first class resort lounge at the airport..The whole staff seem to enjoy assistance guest and to make everything stress free. If you have a relax vacation away from the masses and individual service the Tortuga Hotel and Resort has to be on your list. Rather than high rise condos and in addition to Villas they have gorgeous homes that can be rented. There is one very nice Westin on the property and many great restaurants and beach bars.
