Upon arrival sheets and pillows had hair, they were not clean. The price was ok when compared with hotel.
While some staff were courteous, others were incredibly rude and made the check in and out process extremely unpleasant. Even now, several weeks later, there is still a hold on my credit card that I am trying to have removed. The accommodations were ok, nothing fancy and a little rundown but nice for the convenience of being walking distance to everything in the city for a reasonable price. (When we turned the light off to sleep, it flickered on and off throughout the whole night.) Don't expect anything special from the coffee bar/room service. "Waffles" were toaster eggo waffles and potatoes came out of a frozen bag. Overall, avoid the staff if you can and spend your time exploring the city, not in your room.
Beautiful hotel, art deco design. Historical elevator from 1940. Very comfortable and clean. Super friendly and professional staff. If you love history you will love this hotel.
Stunning hotel, book it. Now. Small pool in a beautiful setting next to "Mocha" which is a cafe. Beautiful marble, wood, massive mirrors in the staircases, gigantically tall ceilings, skylight in the bathroom.
Well i can say none of fam.and friends will be staying there. It was nothing like advertise.rooms looked old run down, was so small my closet in my is bigger. They said that they had remodle rooms, but it would be and up grade,of corse $$$. Well lets put it this it is not worth the saving buying on line, becuse u pay up fornt and can't get ur money back .
This hotel has one of the best locations in ponce in the center of the city is small but comfortable, has a restaurant on the roof, pool bar do a good coffee and good breakfast, recommended to visit the center of the city and for shopping.
Hotel Melia is clearly a hotel which is beyond its prime. The rooms have not been renovated since opening, and the vents in the ceiling clearly had not been cleaned in a while. There's not much in the room in terms of amenities, other than a phone and a non-flat screen TV. In our initial room, the A/C was very loud, and we could hear the singing from the lounge on the top floor until 12:30 am. We asked for a change of rooms, to get somewhere quieter, and though the hotel staff complied, the room we got was a windowless dark room in the back of the hotel which was in worse condition than our original room. It was quiet, however, so we were able to sleep. On the plus side, the hotel is extremely well situated, and all of Ponce's historical sites were within easy walking distance.
Awesome place. Staff was super friendly and informative. Cool layout with center courtyard and room balconys. Area didn't have much to offer at night but was interesting to walk around and explore during the day. Good value for the money.
Lovely historic hotel! Rooftop restaurant with sunset views! Mucho character! We've already recommended to several friends and fellow travelers
Considering the fact this is a CENTURY OLD Hotel, it has a unique charm to it. Its 1914 Elevator Shaft is an experience in its own. I stayed in a City View Room, which was very comfortable to fit an entire bridal party in its preparation (makeup & hair) for the event. Also, the view was very romantic for our first night as husband and wife. Although the historic city of Ponce is our hometown, I would definitely stay at the Melia again for our anniversary!!
This hotel can't be beat for its central location and friendly, helpful staff. Our prepaid check-in was quick and easy, and we appreciated the complimentary welcome sangrias from the hotel's rooftop bar. The hotel parking lot is ample and secure, and at only $6 per day a good deal compared to most hotel chains in similar locations. The breakfast cafe is by a small pool and served us excellent local coffee and typical international fare at decent prices. Our centennial room was not as large as an average newer hotel's, but it was comfortable and nicely appointed. The bathroom was small and the shower curtain did not contain the water very well, but there was plenty of hot water and everything worked. The wall mounted a/c unit was loud, but kept the street noise from bothering us at night and cooled down the room very quickly. The room did not have a safe or mini fridge.
Stayed for one night after a day trip to Caja de Muerto. I requested a room in front to the Plaza to enjoy the view. A HUGE MISTAKE!!....Loud music from the cars do not allowed me to sleep until 3:30 am. Curtains were dirty needed to be replaced. AC was not working properly, it was kind of hot, no matter the A/C setting. Not impressed with the hotel, nothing comparable to the website photos. Breakfast was very good at the pool cafe. I will give a second chance but in interior rooms (for a short stay).
The Hotel Melia in Ponce is long past its prime. It has one ancient (1940 era) elevator, that has room for 2 people or one person plus a luggage cart. The room to which we were assigned was to be blunt, small and decrepit. My wife refused to stay there, and spoke to the front desk, who reassigned us to a renovated room in another wing: a night-and-day difference -- this room had high ceilings, a comfortable bed, a flat-screen TV (all of which were absent in the first room. If you do stay, demand to see the room beforehand, and don't hesitate to ask for another in the new wing if they stick you in the penal colony area. (BTW, apparently they assign travel agency-paying customers to the old wing.) No coffee in room, but got a chit good for two coffees (and another for two drinks) at checkin, so could wander to the back of the hotel and get our morning coffee fix. Convenient to the town square and the Firehouse museum. One luggage cart finally appeared after a long wait. If you read an old review, you'll find mention of an excellent restaurant that used to be here -- but it's been closed for a while. No, we won't go back to the Melia.
Overall good experience. Good service, friendly staff and great location.
The main entrance( which is beautifull) is close and you enter on a side entrance. The lobby lacks the charm this antique hotel should preserve and shows is being a long time they took care of it. The employees don't have name tags, so you have to ask for their name. They are nice and courteous but they look like there is no customer service trainig for them. The place for breakfast is slow and they even ran out of napkins.
Nice location in front of the Ponce plaza. The only inconvenience was that there's no iron in the room and we have to ask for it.
We stay at this hotel every time we go to PONCE. it has reliable service and is in a great location downtown.
Overall good for the price. The room is small but great for the price.
The colonial style is so beautiful. From the begining to the end all the staff is very kind. Everything is accesible being at downtown. We will come back, definitely!!!
Employees are all excellent, the mens parking expectacular work ...
