Bayview On The Park

I recently stayed at Bayview on The Park for work. A 'deluxe Queen Room with free wifi was booked for me by my work for two nights - a Thursday (15th September) and Friday. The room was booked through one of those booking websites that the hotel was on (this becomes important later). I have stayed regularly at the Bayview Eden up the road, same logo, same hotel, same decor. I arrived at about 7:30pm on the Thursday and was promptly told by the really rude front desk person, "a $200.00 cash bond is taken on check in,. This can be made either by cash or EFTPOS". When I did not respond immediately with cash for her, and just looked at her wondering what she was talking about because I have never ever been asked for cash bond before, she said "AND we are very strict with it. So, which is it?" I said I would not be paying a cash bond and that the room was booked with a corporate credit card blah blah blah. I offered my own credit card for an imprint and this was not good enough either. It all seemed really odd. She told me that because the room was booked through a booking website, that they took a cash bond, and that if I had booked it through the hotel directly, this would not be an issue. We went back and forth like this until she abruptly put her hand up, told me she was busy, and proceeded to serve other people. I called my office and they got no further with her either. Eventually i told her i would use my credit card and all the while my office was trying to book me somewhere else, i told the woman this and she told me "that's up to you, but there would be no refund". Eventually I let them hold $50 (still not returned a week later) on my own credit card. The room, which i eventually got to, was dated, small and run down. But I was too tired to argue. There was no free Wifi, the hot water was unpredictable and the hotel service remained consistently disinterested, inattentive and not even present (I waited 15 minutes at the front desk to find out where a convenience shop was, and the staff member did not know - i found one around the corner) . They went to the effort of placing 4 small UHT milks in the fridge and you could not get any others, and when I used 2, they replaced exactly 2. This is a poorly serviced, run down and overpriced hotel. there are easily better options on the same street. I would never recommend this hotel and will not stay at Bayview hotels again. The swimming pool was closed ( it was too cold anyway), and the gym was also not available, but I was not told why or when it would be. These things are listed in the website.

Great place to stay, staff are more than friendly, fantastic in fact. It's a really comfortable warm motel in a great location at a super reasonable price. Parking is very affordable as well. Even in the cold dreary weather it was warm & welcoming.

Good hotel. Excellent location and food. Rooms are very clean and enough space. All amenities provided. Paid parking. Local market nearby. Surrounding is very natural and like a holiday place for tourists.

My lovely partner and l enjoyed a rather pleasant City Break here and we were able to get a room with a bath - granted it wasn't the biggest tub in the history of bathrooms, it did add to our evening and was a nice touch. They have a Bar and Restaurant which looked well appointed- the lobby and entrance were clean and inviting. Staff were polite and attentive, all in all it was a most pleasant stay. I would stay there again.

Comfortable and spacious rooms, beds that actually support restful sleep, very clean with a writing desk and easy chair - what more could you want on a business trip? Bayview has an onsite bar - cocktails whilst networking at the end of the day - onsite restaurant for breakfast or dinner and is centrally located for easy access to Melbourne sights, CBD, and entertainment venues. Highly recommend a stay here.

Checked in to the Bayview on the park late at night so were pretty jetlagged. Next morning we had time to look at the room. The bathroom shower curtain smelled awful and the bathroom had mould everywhere and cracked tiles. The toilet was not cleaned well either. The window in the bedroom was teaming with condensation and the wooden sill was raised due to water damage. The window frame was full of mould. The artexed ceiling was filthy and had cobwebs and dust all over it. It was black in places with dirt. The sheet had come off the mattress slightly and when we inspected the mattress I'm appalled to realise what I had slept on. It was a mattress that belonged in a skip. When we complained to reception they dealt with the complaint very well and we were moved to a different room. It was hugely better but still had cleaning issues especially in the bathroom. The location of the hotel was quite good for the city but I think there are better hotels in this area as it costs nothing to clean.

Dropped in Saturday Afternoon for drinks at the bar. The hotel in general is in need of a face lift very run down on the outside and inside is dated. The bar area is comfortable nothing special and the staff were good. Could do so much more given the location.

I wanted a cheap room close to the city, as I was arriving late and moving to The Blackman the next day and Bayview did the trick. The rooms are a little old school, but clean, big and comfortable. The staff were friendly and the hotel is well positioned close to St Kilda Rd. If you need a hotel and you are on a budget, give this hotel a try.

Great location and well maintained and clean accomodation . Starts at reception with friendly staff and cater for your every need . Bar service and food lovely . You have a choice of either restaurant or bar menu ! Close to many services !

After reading some reviews on here I was worried but on arrival I was very happy. The lobby was really nice, in its day it would have been amazing. Our room was good, comfortable bed, nice linen and really clean. It was a bit dated but still in good condition and everything in working order. It was very quiet overnight. The shower had great pressure! I would definitely stay here again.
