These loft apartments are nestled on top of a unique resort mall with shops and restaurants and a view of the marina and harbor. They are currently undergoing renovation after some damage from Hurricane Irma but watch for the reopening - good things are happening.
We had a timeshare at Fishermen’s Village due to construction and repairs the timeshare is closed. No word on when it will reopen. We no longer have a timeshare here. Lots of changes planned for the area. New developments and a place called Charlotte Harbor is being built.
I travel to Punta Gorda every year during Thanksgiving and Christmas. I’m booked here for 2017. I received an email from RCI letting me know my week of Thanksgiving is cancelled due to the Hurricane. I have 30 days to rebook a trip or I lose my exchange fee. There is nothing for me to book!! So, I now receive an email from Fishermen’s Village informing me that my week at Christmas has also been cancelled. I called RCI and they are not aware of this so they will not release my points. There is nothing available in this area with such short notice. Even if there was something, I couldn’t book because my points are being held. So I will not be able to visit family this year. And I’m out $450 in exchange fees. I called the city of Punta Gorda and ZERO permits have been pulled. I find it odd that all the stores underneath and all the restaurants are open. I was also told very few buildings in the area had water damage. I had a terrible experience here in 2015 also and said I would never return. I can’t believe I gave in and booked another stay here. NEVER AGAIN!!!
We try to get to the Village at least once a year. We are originally from New England and enjoy the meals at the Village Fish Market. (Just like home) Of course we enjoy the other restaurants also, Scotty's, Harpoon Harry's etc. The rooms are clean, spacious, and have wonderful views. The bathrooms can use a little upgrading. The wives enjoy the convenience of shopping at the boutiques. Already looking forward to our next visit. The wife and I started coming here ourselves and every year it seems like more couples tag along with us. .
2nd time visit! The place is simply enchanting! Rent a boat or go to one of the many nearby beaches and the SHOPS!!! You will adore the shops right outside your door! From the best seafood ever to a treasure to wear forever, I'm loving my Druzy necklace every day!
Went on vacation to rest and It was totally the opposite. It was so loud big food & garbage trucks running under unit Windows at 6AM construction started super early pool got closed no back up.. I was so upset we left early and went home. You look forward all year for a vacation and this happens . Staff was nice and friendly and town was lovely . Was totally disappointed
Worst timeshare we ever stayed in. Interval should be ashamed of it. After checking in, we noticed clothing tags and litter all over the carpet. It was apparent that it had not been vacuumed prior to our arrival. Next day we went to use the frying pan and eating utensils only to find that they were put away used, and filthy with food remnants. Obviously the maid didn't check or wash anything. Mold on bathroom wall was so bad that we experienced respiratory issues and had to check out early. In the future I'll look at reviews before going anywhere.
Fisherman's Village is a very cozy and relaxing resort right on a marina. Each villa has two bedrooms, a loft, living room, dining room, full kitchen with cooking tools, one bathroom, and a balcony. There are spectacular views over the Peace River and can see sunsets from your room every night. As many others have mentioned you stay on the 2nd level over many shops and restaurants which adds to the experience that everything is right at your feet. Every store is very warm and welcoming. You could always go into the office in the morning and get a cup of coffee and a local newspaper. There is also free WIFI to residents and a laundry facility which will run $3 a load. We did have one bad experience as we learned there was termites in the boards over the room. The staff did respond very quickly in taking care of the issue and gave some gift certificates as a courtesy for the trouble. I would not recommend if you have children as there is hardly anything for them to do and the resort does not provide any activities throughout the week to give them. We had to drive over 30 minutes to find stuff to do but that is not the fault of the resort it just happens to be Punta Gorda itself. The only thing for children was two shops: Laff Out Loud and Little-Minnows. Suggestions to Fisherman's Village: 1. Update the living room furniture as it is outdated and very uncomfortable to sit on. 2. Need a better vacuum or just rid of the updated carpet. 3. Provide an itinerary of activities throughout the week like a cookout, pool party, or craft day (paint a rock to hide). 4. Add an additional elevator or better parking for residents as it is a very long walk to unload/load vehicles. All in all we enjoyed our stay just wish there was more to do with children.
We visited friends that live in Punta Gorda and picked the Fishermens to stay at. The whole staff was always friendly and accommodating. We were there at off peak season so shops and restaurants closed early but we had no problem with that. The room was dated but clean. There were 4 adults total and had no issues with 1 bathroom. It's a jack and Jill bath, with the toilet and tub behind a door. Beds were comfy and the loft had a futon. Stairs were a little steep (not for the old or very young) but again we managed. Definitely will be back Great views from balcony. Enjoyed Scottys restaurant and bar.
Rooms are nice and clean, kind of a retro feel but I like it. Very spacious, I believe these were condos originally and turned into rentals. Rooms are located above all the stores. It is a busy shopping area with nice shops and restaurants. There are some fishing boats outside you can go out on if you wish. The pool water was a bit odd. There was no smell of chlorine and birds were constantly coming down to drink water out of pool. Not sure what that's all about. We saw a dolphin in the bay and lots of fish jumping out of water. One annoying thing is the motorcycle idiots at Harpoon Larrys make a lot of noise coming and going. All in all I enjoyed it and will stay there next time I fly out of Punta Gorda airport.
