Old fashioned on the outside, but quite modern inside. Very friendly and competent staff, rooms are very clean and modern, beds are comfortable. Location is great, everything is in walking distance,. Breakfast is not excessive, but high Quality. Definitely a recommend.
We have just spent a week based at this hotel. Amenities were ideal, though we would have liked an iron and ironing board for our crumpled clothes- a very minor crumble. Location was perfect - near the old town and wonderful restaurants. We did not wish to hire a car but found it was within easy reach of the train station, although it was uphill! I use a wheelchair and hubby was able to push me! We travelled by train to Santiago de Compestela, a Coruna and Pontevedra all of which were spectacular. Breakfast was lovely with lots to choose from - nice to have something different from the usual fried breakfast. We had a meal too at the restaurant which was excellent value for money and very nice. All in all, we had a wonderful time! Staff were very kind and could not be faulted. Thank you!
This was a very nice hotel but! We were on the first floor and right on the street!!! The people in Vigo don't sleep so the noise of the street and people was ridiculous! The room was quite small but clean and nicely done. That being said...this was the least favorite hotel. The staff was very pleasant but if you want to sleep....don't book a street side room. Vigo however is a lovely place to visit. The location of this hotel is also great. I would stay there again on another floor off the street!!!
I had a large and elegantly decorated room (parquet floor), with a balcony on the front side facing the port - very comfortable. Good location, many nice restaurant and bars close by, Friendly service. So far the best hotel i stayed in at Vigo, would stay there again.
The positives are that it was a nice hotel and the room had 2 balconies one of which overlooked the harbour. The bathroom was very nice with a really good power shower. Everywhere was clean and the staff were courteous. The negatives were that we were woken up throughout the night on all three nights so left exhausted. The reason was that there was a weekend long event taking place on the harbour which included live music concerts resulting in a noise level that I would describe as extreme. In addition to this people were shouting outside from late through to dawn. We were leaving the hotel at 7:30am on the Monday morning and on the Sunday night were subjected to a music volume equivalent to having a loud stereo on in the room until 00:45. I spoke to the receptionist and she said that the hotel did not know that the event was going to be taking place. So my advice to travellers is that if you want to stay in this hotel and in this great location, find out first if there is an event on. My advice to the hotel is that they make it their business to know when such things are happening or they will receive more reviews like this one.
At the beginning of July we decided to travel to Santiago de Compostela. During the trip we stayed overnight in Vigo, having chosen the AC Hotel Palacio Universal. This hotel is an Art Nouveau building on the marina, a walking distance from the city center. On arrival we had a professional reception, no big explanations and impersonal. The car park is not located in the hotel, which we found quite annoying, and at a rate of 13 euros per night. We were upgraded to a superior room, located on the third floor (#311), overlooking the Ria de Vigo, more specifically in front of the Real Club Nautico. The room was completely renovated, having two large windows, bed with reasonable mattress, safe and silent air conditioning, allowing a suitable temperature. The bathroom also had a large window and was spacious with one washbasin, bathtub, bidet and all the necessary amenities. During the night, unfortunately, we were unable to meet our main purpose of this stay, which was to rest. The noise that came from the neighboring street was intense and quite annoying, impeding an adequate quality of sleep. The hotel restaurant was closed when we arrived around 9pm, although there was a minibar in the room and room service. We had breakfast included in our rate, consisted of a cold buffet, which we considered as good offer of various items such as Spanish tortilla, cold meats, cheeses, fruit, juices, Nespresso coffee, cakes, etc. In short, we consider AC Hotel Palacio Universal a good value for money choice. Our score reflects, above all, the lack of quietness experienced during the night.
This hotel is located at the Vigo Marina and you will be very lucky to have a nice sea view room. It is easy to access to the city center and seaside. Building is a little bit old but rooms are still nice and cosy. Staff is really helpful and breakfast is really very nice in the hotel. I would definitely stay again if I ever visit Vigo.
The AC Hotel is a very solid hotel with the perfect location. It is close to the old town, the port where day trips to the islands leave from, and the train station. Rooms are nice and the breakfast is good. They don't tell you, but you can order eggs as a part of the buffet. Our receptionist made excellent restaurant recommendations - I kept going back to her for more.
Travelled to Vigo to visit family and stayed at the AC Hotel Palacio Universal a Marriott hotel for two weeks. It was a contemporary hotel in the city near the port. Great professional team at the hotel . Front desk first impression with Sara was a desire to take care of the customer and insure we enjoyed our stay. Moira,Isabelle,Santi continued this great customer service throughout the day and evening. Suzie in the restaurant was outstanding. Room attendants were courteous and attentive. Get a Superior room which is larger and includes the mini bar. Great access to the port where cruise ships dock and within walking distance to train and city center mall. We will go back for sure.
The hotel is very conveniently located near the center of town. It is across the street from the bay and shopping. The only things I would have liked are that the towels need to be thicker (they are very thin.....a la Motel 6) and I would have liked there to be a big mirror above the desk.
