Despite being a brand new hotel, the rooms had a distinct vibe of “80s hotel that was recently refreshed”. My guess is that Fairfield Inn has using the same floor plan for their hotels for years, only updating the decor. Because of COVID, there was no daily housekeeping service and cleaning throughout the hotel seemed limited despite being fully booked (there were 3 different weddings that weekend). The elevator buttons were greasy and sticky and the reception desk was literally dusty - so much for COVID cleaning. However, the room was clean even if the public spaces were less so. The brand new shower had a faulty drain that would not stay open, which made the shower experience somewhat less pleasant and we could hear a lot of noise coming from other room through the vents. I was pleasantly surprised to find veggie sausage at breakfast, but the coffee was awful - incredibly watered down. I was also disappointed that all of the plates, cutlery, and cups were plastic. I get that disposables are preferred in the age of COVID, but Fairfield Inn needs to do better in terms of sustainability.
