Not much to fault here, we were very happy with our choice. Great service the staff were so friendly and helpful, spotless room awesome pool and great position on the beach. Quiet and relaxed atmosphere. We loved our stay here.

My husband and I stayed in the Pool Access Room for three nights in June 2017. The room was excellent, well-maintained and well-appointed. Beds are comfy and so were the pillows. Comfortable sleep is very important to us and we were not disappointed here. Having the pool outside the room was such a treat and the 'pool' towels were replaced daily, and they came along with a little biscuit each time which we thought was delightful. There was a slight leak from the air conditioning system on the first night there, but they fixed it very quickly and with many apologies, although it did not really bother us much. The star factor of this hotel though, is its staff. Every member of the La Flora staff was excellent from check-in to check-out. They were welcoming, friendly, prompt and efficient. They made us feel so at home and helped us out with finding things to do and getting to places, even when we did not want to go on any tours the hotel had organised for guests. They entertained our multiple enquires and called ahead to the activities we wanted to go to make sure they knew La Flora guests were heading there. We were especially grateful for the excellent hospitality shown by Malyn, who was at the frontdesk when we checked in and out. She was so welcoming and really started off our stay on a wonderful note and was very helpful throughout our stay. Would highly recommend this place!

Nice hotel in a great little town. Had a swim up room which was nice and quiet, no fighting for a sun bed. Restaurant by the beach was good and well priced. Loved being only a few minutes walk from dozens of good restaurants and bars. Went on 3 trips organized by the hotel which were brilliant.

This hotel is so amazing ,I was in pool villa . all stuff are so friendly they are always welcoming. Breakfast was so great and also the pool and beach , I falling in Love with This resort really , I would come back <3 La flora Khao lak

Excellent hotel, wonderful staff, always smiling and happy to help. Swim up room is fantastic. Breakfast - anything you could want is catered for. 5mins walk to the local bars and restaurants We have really enjoyed our stay and thoroughly recommend La Flora to anyone who wishes a relaxing holiday, on the beach and also near all the towns amenities.

Still here as I write this. We booked this 10 night break in Jan and for the price including Emirates flights, can't complain! Arrived around 10pm to a welcoming cold towel and drink. Shown to our room which the staff member couldn't find! No problem as he said he was new! The hotel itself is in beautiful, well kept gardens with beach and garden villas and a complex of pool villas and ours in the main complex. We had room 121 with a double aspect balcony, big room and bathroom with a huge bed, which we are taking home. The beach is ok with a number of sun beds on the grass area, sea temp was really warm and we alternated between the pool area and sea. Pool was great but I would imagine high season a bit cramped. Few days of rain which we expected. Didn't eat in the restaurant except for the first night which was just a pizza so can't comment on the food, apart from the breakfasts which were great! Especially the omelettes and perfect poached eggs! The beach bar was welcoming especially happy hours! No ice creams though?? Not much to do when it rains however. We eat out every night and also visited their new sister hotel next door, very impressive but a bit austere for us and still being built, but worth a visit even just for a drink. Their cocktails were the best! We also had a lovely Thai meal there. The staff at La flora are all great and friendly, and will always help. Rickie is such a happy guy in particular All in all a great relaxing break and nice hotel and would come back.

We chose this hotel based on location. It is a great location - easy walking distance to all the shops, restaurants, night market and getting out into the street, but the hotel itself isn't much. Check-in was slow, rooms are basic, service is shocking (staff are not friendly, disinterested and lazy), there are heaps of rooms and heaps of people squeezed onto the beachfront beach-chairs sunbaking under umbrellas, ( aka you'll get a beach lounger, but you'll be right on top of the people sitting next to you).... the pool is small at the beach side, and filled with kids playing ball-games and with inflatables, the back-pool which is long running between the new rooms is hardly accessible and there's no where to sit in the sun if you haven't got a room leading directly onto this pool. Staff are slow, lazy and unhelpful, the beach isn't beautiful out the front - it's also rather choppy so expect that ( not the gentle lapping thai waters like other beach resorts) and the worst part of our stay was one of the staff made a circus-show display winning the tourists staying there when a poor unsuspecting monitor lizard was having a swim in the ocean, minding his own business. We were so disappointed to see a local Thai employee chase this lizard and harass him in the water to show-off to the tourists staying at the resort, encouraging others to capture him and chase him, frightening him and finally capturing him to hold up on display like a trophy - a marine biologist was also disgusted with this display of utter contempt of a poor, harmless lizard ( which was a meter long) and we were upset to see this happen, when we'd like to see the employee calm everyone down and allow the lizard to swim past and head to safety. We were very upset by this, and were disappointed to see that shocking act in hurting wildlife at a resort. As much as this is a basic hotel, rooms had good airconditioning, were spacious and blocked out light. The bathrooms were ok. The beds were ok. The doors don't feel secure with locking when you leave, but hey - there's heaps of choices right? Great location, and good value/price if this is all you're after. FYI - a REALLY KID-FRIENDLY and very family-focused hotel. Really read the reviews of this hotel if you're looking to book it.

We’ve just come back from a 2 week stay at La Flora, we were there the first 2 weeks of May. I have slightly mixed reviews on this hotel and I will highlight the plus points and areas where the hotel could think of improving. Plus Points: Hotel: • The hotel itself is a really nice set up, it’s off a little side road, lovely reception. We checked in at 2am and were greeted with a cool drink and towel. A really nice helpful chap checked us in and showed us to our room. The hotel is modern looking, clean and quite polished. Our room was a large room overlooking one of the pools, we had a huge very comfortable bed, a day bed, a large bathroom, lots of storage, air con and a small terrace. • There’s a spa which I heard good reviews for although I didn’t use it myself. • There’s a gym room which didn’t seem to have any equipment apart from boxing Gloves and pads. • Two pools – one for Poolside rooms which always looked very chilled and relaxing. The other which was the main pool which was quite busy. This pool overlooks the beach and sea. • There’s a nice restaurant which does nice food which I thought was reasonably priced too, the restaurant overlooks the beach so lovely to sit there and have a beer looking out at the sea. • Breakfast was good, they seemed to cater for everyone. • There is a little supermarket where you can buy Water (Much much cheaper than the hotel), ice creams, crisps, beer (Again much cheaper than the hotel). Rooms: • The rooms were cleaned every day – every evening someone comes to your room and drops off a some sort of sweet, cake and they ask if everything is ok with your room. I thought this was a lovely touch. • Towels are changed at request I believe, toiletries are topped up when needed although we had to ask a couple of times. Location: • The hotel is round the corner from lots of local restaurants and a couple of bars that seemed quite popular. Our favourite restaurants were Nu Suang (the best restaurant here and the cheapest), Thai Corner, Siam and a great Italian less that 5 minutes walk. Good bars – Bee Bob Bar seemed popular, and Wonderland which is down the road, turn right and it’s on the right hand side. • There’s a night market on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday evening from 3-7pm. Lots of clothes here, sports clothes, lots of food, beer. There is also a bar here that has great reviews called MR Chay’s – but we never found it! • You can get a taxi from round the corner from the hotel for 150 Baht which will take you to the centre of Khao Lak where there a few more bars and restaurants. I wanted to try Monkey Bar but never got round to it. Staff: • Some of the staff here are absolutely fabulous, the main person being Ricky who works in the restaurant. He is very professional, warm, very good at his job, very conscientious, we loved him! There were a few others such as Oliver and some of the other girls on the same shift as Ricky. He’s a great asset to this hotel, stands out head and shoulders above anyone else. He really made a difference to our opinion of the hotel. One night my husband hurt his leg, Ricky was great in making sure my husband had what he needed. • Staff at reception were also very good, courteous and professional. Negatives – Hate to do this but I wanted to write a very honest review: Staff: • Some of the staff are great as I’ve said earlier. However, some of them aren’t, so I do appreciate some of the more negative comments on here. In our first week, the resort seemed much busier and as much as I hate to say it the staff seemed quite dismissive and almost as if they couldn’t be bothered, I experienced this largely around the beach bar area. Examples include: 3 or 4 people behind the bar, no customers except myself and everyone avoiding eye contact with me and then when they finally did serve me, they just shoved my drink in front of me. Another example, one of the guys was behind the bar by himself talking to someone on the phone, when he saw me waiting to be served, he finished his telephone conversation before serving me. When he did serve me he was rude and had no eye contact. • There were several occasions when I went to put rubbish in the bin behind the beach bar, even though there were several members of staff you would think they would take it from me, but they just avoid eye contact. • On one occasion I saw two waitresses clearly talking and gigging about another female guest, when they saw me watching them, they quickly turned the other way. • They have 3 happy hours a day one of which was a 1pm – in other hotels staff normally go round the loungers asking guests if they would like a drink, this wasn’t done in the first week at all, but when the resort was quieter the second week, I did see someone asking. There was a lack of consistency. • We had room service one afternoon, I called room service later in the evening to see what I should do with the dishes as I didn’t want them in the room to attract ants or insects, they asked me to leave the dishes outside and they would be collected – this was about 9pm. The next morning around 11am they were still outside. Beach: • I didn’t think the beach was very nice, in the two weeks we were there it wasn’t cleaned and looked far from idyllic. In other hotels I’ve stayed at the beach directly outside the hotel is cleaned every day. The beach is long but not very wide, it wouldn’t have taken long for the hotel to take more care of it. • The loungers on the beach provided by the hotel were old and needed replacing – I didn't think this was very good for a 4 star resort. General: • I didn't realise but May is the beginning of the rainy season so unfortunately this is no fault of the hotel. However, on the several occasions it rained, I didn’t understand why they wouldn’t put music on in the restaurant to attract guests to go into the restaurant instead of going to their rooms. You can’t influence rain, but music would have created more of an atmosphere and it would have encouraged people to buy more drinks. • In the evenings, if there wasn’t a band playing, again there often wasn’t any music. There was often a lack of atmosphere in the restaurant. Rainy Season: • Rainy season starts in May, we lost a good few days to rain. This is obviously not the fault of the hotel but I think they could do more to create a holiday feel and make the most of it, so maybe music in the restaurant, extend Happy hour on rainy days etc. • The sea was very choppy so we didn't go in, other guests did. • We spoke to a few guests who had trips cancelled because of the rain. • This is a quiet area and when it rains there is very little to do and it can take away from your holiday. • This is not the hotels fault at all, but I do think it’s important people are aware. If you don’t mind the rain then that’s fine, but I did as I felt it took away a little from my holiday. Rainy season is from May until October. I personally wouldn’t go here after the beginning of May. Despite my critical comments we did have a nice relaxing break, but the hotel seemed better in our second week and this was also when they were much quieter. I don’t know if the staff were more relaxed maybe. This could be a great hotel if the staff issues are addressed. It seems from the reviews people either have a great experience with the staff or they don’t, these are issues that can be dealt with easily.

We have recently returned from a very relaxing stay at La Flora. The hotel was peaceful , and tranquil . It did seem more suitable for adults than children. The grounds were beautiful and well kept and there was always plenty of room around the pools and on the beach . Our room was spacious with good air conditioning - and the bed was huge and really comfy . The hotel is situated right on the beautiful beach and close to some great restaurants and shops . We purchased a trip to the Phi Phi islands through the hotel . It was very well organised and well worth the money . The staff were always smiling and made us all feel very welcome . Breakfast was included in our stay- good selection of continental English and Thai options . The spar was beautiful and the staff courteous and professional. We would definitely recommend this hotel .

This was our 4th stay at La Flora, our first during high season, and it didn't disappoint. From the moment we arrived to the day we left we couldn't have asked for anything more. The majority of staff were the same, from our previous stay two years ago, and most of them recognized us, which made it really special. We went on a few trips with the excursions team and had a great time on every one of them. As this trip was the last part of my wife and my 50th birthday celebrations, we decided to have a romantic meal on the beach and the setting could not have been any better, and the seafood menu that we selected was unbelievable, thank you to all involved. We look forward to seeing you all again soon, and thank you all again for making our time at La Flora special.
