I booked a Ocean View king room because we had stayed here previously and loved the room and resort. Upon my arrival I was given a room with two beds looking at a tree. It was after midnight so I took it for the first night because I had a tour early in the morning. I went to the desk prior to my tour and was told "I'm sorry, there is nothing we can do" I asked why I was not given my room I booked and she told me that they gave it away. I asked to speak to the manager and was told he would not be in until later. I went on my tour and upon my return asked to speak to the manager. The girl at the desk made me repeat everything from the morning and said "I'm sorry there is nothing I can do" then went to get the manager. I said I wanted to talk to him in the first place now I have to repeat myself yet again! The manager told me that his staff would never say they gave the room away (so now I am a liar) and told me "I'm sorry there is nothing we can do" He did offer me the ocean view room on the day I was leaving so I asked for 4pm check out. He told me he could not do that because they were sold out. When I asked how can you give me a room I do not have a reservation for if you are sold out. He could not answer. I asked for some compensation since obviously I did not get what I paid for and was told "I'm sorry there is nothing we can do" Needless to say this will be taken up with my credit card company. They then wanted to charge for the two waters I drank. The girl at the desk was kind enough to take them off the bill since I did not get the room I booked.
Just spent 8 days here Loved it. It may not be 5 star but had everything we needed. Excellent location so close to everything. All staff very friendly and attentive. Buffet breaky ok. Would definitely go back. Would love to try pool villa next time
First time in khao lak and wanted a beautiful hotel to relax before heading back home. This hotel is not a four star hotel I would class this as a 2/3 star. The deluxe room is awful always damp. Our clothes in the room the towels the beds all very damp. Very basic room photos are very misleading. I'm not a person to complain but I feel I had to write a review for this hotel as I don't want anyone else crying. Overall khao lak is very quite place lovely people very safe and plenty of shopping. I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone so if your already booked reading this review change ur hotel.
We stayed at the Centara SeaView resort in Khao Lak for the first 5 days of our Holiday before heading to Ao Nang to our usual spot the Centara Anda Dhevi. We chose this hotel for the most part because it’s a Centara hotel and we are Centara 1Card members and we have had such great experiences with the Anda Dhevi – That was our first mistake! I can honestly say the two Hotels are like chalk and cheese on every level. Firstly, we arrived and were greeted by no one we had to drag our 4 bags up a flight of stairs without assistance from anyone, then finally we were greeted by a staff member who said leave your bags here and sit over there. Handed over our passports as requested and then just left sitting there for 15minutes until finally we were given room keys and some information. We booked a 2 bedroom Family residence deciding to give ourselves a bit of a treat for 5 days, nowhere on their site does it state these are 2 storey with a stair case to the bedrooms that you need a “safety harness” to get up and down because they are so steep and small, as I had injured my knee this was never going to work, then we realised the balcony is off the kitchen on the bottom floor which can’t be locked, the blinds in the kitchen – one won’t open and the other won’t close and the only place to get our included breakfast is a 10 minute walk down a winding hill –so we went to reception and explained that with my knee this was not going to work could we change rooms to the deluxe ocean view rooms – we were told that was not possible ( even though we had already been told there weren’t many guests yet as it was the beginning of the season) so the only option was a pool villa room at a cost of an extra 2000 baht per night. We bit the bullet and paid the extra, so our holiday would not be spoilt or have me sleeping on the couch because I couldn’t use the stairs. We enquired whether the upgrade would be credited to our 1 card member account and the front desk staff had no idea what we were talking about – it is Centara’s own loyalty program so I would expect their staff to know what it was!! The whole 5 days apart from housekeeping we saw hardly any staff and those we did would look down rather than greet us – which is not something we were used to as the staff at the Anda Dhevi are extremely friendly and welcoming and deliver the customary “Sawatdee” on every encounter even if it’s the 4th time you have passed them that day. At the Seaview we started to question whether we were even in Thailand as there was no sign of the famous Thai friendly welcoming nature. I will say the grounds are beautiful, the location stunning and the breakfast buffet is good, but that is where the positives end. As is normal with Centara we received an email the second day asking if everything was ok – my partner politely relayed our disappointment with our first days experience. We then received a phone call from the customer service Manager who offered to credit 3 of the 5 nights extra cost and a free Dinner – which we were more than happy with – until we went to have the free dinner. 3 restaurants in this resort and only one was operating, we chose the Roast Buffet night to use our dinner voucher – it was a 3 meat choice of Chicken, Ham and Duck. I chose Chicken my partner Ham, both our meats were barely warm, both were dry and tasteless, the sides buffet was poor at best – the only good thing about the meal was the commercial icecream option for dessert. Again staff were unfriendly, non existent and just plain disinterested, we were not even told we could have had the al carte option rather than the buffet – all I can say is I am glad I wasn’t paying for it. Our room service tray sat outside our room for from 1pm until 9am the next day, the spa option on the pool wouldn’t turn off, their solution was to disable it completely for 2 days and then hadn’t bothered to tell us it was fixed and could be used which I figured out by trying it the last day. When it finally came time to check out we rang reception because there was no answer from the concierge desk to organize someone to collect our bags as it was quite a trek involving stairs to get to reception – we were told someone would be there in 5-10 minutes. After waiting for 30 minutes and knowing we had a transfer booked for noon we dragged our bags back across to reception including up a steep driveway only to be told “oh yes bell boy go away” We completed our check out and were told our credit would be refunded to our credit card. It is now 10 days since we checked out and still no refund in our account despite an email assuring us it had been processed. Centara – this hotel is damaging your Brand!! They could use some training from the Anda Dhevi who excel in customer Service.
On our first time in Khao Lak, we chose to stay at the Centara SeaView resort in Khao Lak for the first 5 days of our Holiday before heading to Ao Nang to our usual spot the Centara Anda Dhevi. We chose this hotel because it’s a Centara hotel and as we had such fantastic experiences at their Ao Nang hotel the Anda Dhevi on our 4 stays there. Unfortunately our great experiences at the Anda Dhevi in no way translated to our experience at the Seaview. These two hotels could not be more different in every possible way and my assumption that as the Seaview was a Centara hotel, the same high standards they have in Ao Nang would be translated across the Centara brand. I booked a two bedroom deluxe family residence as a treat for myself and my partner and the photos and information on the room in no way was the same as what we found we got to our room. In fact, these rooms are in such bad condition they should not even be using them, the door to our balcony could not be locked, the blinds in the kitchen were broken and could not be opened or closed and nowhere in the room description did it say the unit had stairs. These stairs are not any ordinary stairs, they are on such a sharp angle and the actual step is so small you cannot even fit your whole foot on them, in fact you just about need to be wearing a safety harness when using them! These units overall are tired and rundown and are in such a poor condition that they should not be available to be booked until they have been refurbished. So, on finding all these we decided that we would go back to reception and ask to be moved to another room and as I had read on a forum that the oceanview deluxe rooms had just been refurbished I asked if we could move into one of these. I was told that none were available (even though we had been told there were not many guests at the hotel as the high season did not start until November 1st) and the only room available was a Deluxe Pool Villa at a cost of an extra 2000 Baht per night. As we did not want our stay to be ruined by being in a room that was a very poor standard we chose to pay the extra 2000 Baht x 5 and moved rooms. I believe the reason we were told that this was the only available room is so that they could upsell the room of a much higher cost (that we really couldn’t afford) and this left a really bad impression of the hotel. As is normal with Centara we received an email the second day asking if everything was ok and I replied advising them of the issue with the room to which we were contacted by the Executive Assistant Manager who offered to credit 3 of the 5 nights extra cost and a free Dinner – which we were more than happy with. This quick response really impressed me but unfortunately that was the only part of our stay at the Seaview I was impressed with. I would have thought that Centara provided the same level of training to its staff no matter the location of the hotel but after our stay at Seaview it is really obvious this is not the case. Because the hotel is split into 3 sections with the middle section containing reception and the ocean side section having a restaurant but unfortunately apart from the restaurant and housekeeping they were the only hotel staff that we saw on the ocean side. The staff are not at all friendly and do not say hello and make a point of looking down or away and not making eye contact, clearly that usual Thailand warmth and welcome does not exist at Seaview. The staff do not wear uniforms that denote where they work (unlike Anda Dhevi) and I witnessed something I have never seen before in Thailand and that was a staff member arguing with a guest. Two of the 3 restaurants were closed, there was hardly any information (in the rooms or on notice boards) about the services, tours or things happening at the hotel and the free dinner we received was of such a poor standard that we ended up going and getting food from another restaurant outside the hotel. Our arrival at the hotel was to no concierge to help us get our bags up 2 sets of stairs and on departure we rang for the concierge to come and get our bags and was told they would be 5 to 10 minutes and 30 minutes later they had still not come, this really summed up our whole stay at the hotel – it failed to deliver in any area and in my opinion is a very sad and damaging reflection on the Centara brand.
Our first visit to Khao Lak was not sure what to expect. Nice atmosphere here love the fresh room which had been recently refurbished. Was originally supposed to be on the fourth floor, and with no lif we asked if we could move to a ground floor. Staff we very accommodating and moved us straight away, breakfast was abundant with a great range of foods. Swimming pools all very nice clean and plenty of chairs. Main Street is about a ten minute walk away which was not that hard with lots of restaurants even on the way to there. Only ate breakfast there so cannot comment on any of the food served at Centara. Definitely would go back again
We booked this resort at the end of our trip in Thailand. Our check in was good but we weren't told much about the hotel facilities or restaurants so we were a bit clueless when it came to where everything was in the hotel. We were in a deluxe twin room which was in need of some refurbishment. The location was great, right on the beach and near all of the restaurants. There were limited bars but we found a good cocktail bar. There are 4 swimming pools but not enough sunbeds even though there is plenty of space for more, we did find that one day we couldn't find a sunbed for the 2 of us because families were reserving multiple sunbeds but not actually using them at all which was frustrating. We enjoyed the swim up bar which was a novelty. There aren't any lifeguards at the beach so we didn't spend much time in the sea.
Batman was amazing with our 4 year old daughter - she loved the little paper boat he made for her! In fact all staff at this hotel are exceptional! The hotel itself however is outdated :( Our delux villa for 3 people turned out to be an apartment for 2 people (seriously a double bed, 2 towels 2 dressing gowns etc), when question we were told it’s in the culture for a family to all sleep in one big bed together????!!!! Wtf is that all about?? We eventually had to pay for an upgrade to an actual villa (nicer but my daughter ended up on a sofa bed?), also needs to be noted that we were told by virgin holidays that delux includes pool this is something we will take up with virgin separately however expecting 3 in a bed is totally down to hotel as they were expecting 3 of us and even on upgrading our living area had to be turned into a male shift bedroom - not really what you would call a villa!
Stayed as a family in low season. We initially booked a family room and were confident in Centara standards as weve stayed at several. We became a little worried reading some reviews and were very disapointed on arrival. The family rooms are not part of the hotel complex but appear to be a series of upstairs flats behind the shops on the main road. Very close to the shops but a long way from the hotel breakfast / pools etc. There are golf buggies on call to/from reception. While clean and spacious inside, these rooms are located in a fairly grim looking concrete courtyard and are nowhere near what you would expect booking at a Centara property. Also, very, very steep stairs inside the units. We paid to upgrade to a deluxe family suite which has two large rooms and caould easily accomodate our family of 5. Plenty of space and a beautiful old teak traditional feel about it. Definitely needs some maintenance with peeling paint, non functioning doors, collapsing fence, rattling AC etc. Outdoor shower hasn't seen a brush or broom in months. Also, a strange design in that these suites are separated from the rest of property by a small canal but only some have access via a bridge. we had to come and go via a back street to the pool / breakfast etc. The property is well located to the main street and restaurants and has beach frontage though it is split by a couple of small roads. There is a very large central pool with a modest waterslide and pool bar. There are smaller kid & adult only pools attached. Another pool is located next to the beach beside the restaurant / breakfast area. Breakfast service is basic, buffet style and staff are courteous if not very energetic. Arrival at reception s impressive though it is generally downhill from there. The property is tired and seems to have gone without much maintenance for some time. It needs renovation which seems to have started around reception. Overall we were fairly disappointed and though booked for eight days, we'd had enough by six days and left, forfeiting two nights payment to stay elsewhere. Overall, This property is average at best and we're surprised it carries the Centara brand. Good location and could be great but very tired and needs much improvement. Better value elsewhere.
We booked into this resort for one night only at short notice after we realised that we had messed up our dates. We booked using booking.com a few days before. (we were staying next door at the leaf oceanside) The staff were very friendly and spoke excellent English. We were upgraded to a Luxury Pool Villa which was fantastic. Cannot fault the room, the bed was the best of 2 other stays in Thailand this trip. The pool was fantastic and pool chairs available for everyone. They have labels on them stating that you cannot reserve the chairs by placing the towels on them. The staff remove towels after an hour. This makes it equitable for everyone. We had lunch at the restaurant on the beachside, it was slightly more expensive than other places but the food and service was great. We had couples massage at the spa which was excellent value for money and the staff were very professional and welcoming. The only down side is the breakfast. It might have been just the time we went but it was very disorganised, no staff seating guests, tables not set and lineups for food were ridiculous. Maybe it was just very busy time. Once we actually got fed it was ok. Having said all that, we will book here again and get a luxury villa. Khao Lak is a very quiet place that has everything you need except the seediness of Patong.
