Went for a birthday party at the rooftop bar. What a great venue with fantastic ambience. Our hosts spent over $5000 on the bar so it was definitely a night to remember. Just disappointed with service from “Giuseppe”. He wasn’t friendly at all and came off a bit snooty, which was a shame. However the other fellow working with him was super nice and he made awesome cocktails.
From the moment we walked into the lobby our breath was taken away by the clever blend of the retained heritage building and the the industrial look new decor. We were greeted by very friendly staff who ensured checkin was processed very quickly. Up to our King Room with bath. The frosted glass wall that retains the bath, shower and toilet was a very innovative and aesthetically pleasing touch. While this meant some room was sacrificed in the living area we were still very comfortable in this room during our stay. With multiple bars and food outlets to choose from we were spoiled for choice. I chose the king prawns at the bar which were plump and combined balanced flavours perfectly. I will be back to make my way through the rest of the menu. I opted for the eggs benny with salmon for breakfast and devoured it with a hot cappuccino, fresh orange juice and sweet pastries. Because we didn't book direct (we will next time) check out was 10 instead of 12, but Natalie at the front desk granted us an extra hour. Natalie also gave us a chat on the history of the hotel which was fascinating. This hotel with it's funky decor, great service, friendly and knowledgeable staff, well thought out and well executed menus rivals any hotel I have stayed at in Australia. Needless to say we will be back :)
The Melbourne was a great base to explore Perth. We were able to walk from there to Kings Park, Elizabeth Quay and the shopping malls. Plenty of food options in the hotel plus a great cafe just across the road. Staff were very friendly particularly Olivia at a Reception.
I stayed for 2 nights. I will start with the good- its a beautiful small hotel. new,and very good location. It has good coffee stand in the lobby to buy coffee in the morning. Well done to the cleaning staff - it was spotless. But that is all the good I can say. The room was tiny!!! and I mean Tiny!we were couple after 3 weeks of tour+bike -we checked in late and i found my self in a really small corner room. If you are travelling with trolley- its ok, if you are a couple with luggage-skip this hotel. The shower room has no place to put your things and the shower head was broken so we needed to call someone to fix it. the toilete is seperated by glass door. I asked to change to bigger room- the lady took me to 3 more rooms the same size- i explained again!!!that I would like a bigger room. Again it took her 10 minutes to tell me that it will be upgrade at a price- i said ok! another 10 minutes and she said no more rooms available. at that point it was really late- the check-in lady was not cooperative and didn't seem to know much- so I asked to speak to a manager next morning.(I was at reception for almost an hour!) Either she didn't give the message- or the manager didn't think its important enough to call me- which is worse? Next day I went to the gym in the afternoon. The gym is pretty nice- no towel!!!!no antibacterial wipes (the container was broken so i couldn't pull a wipe). I went down to the lobby (no phone in the gym)asked for towels!! completed 5 K and Hiit- no towels arrived!how complicated is it for the girl at reception-same one.....to manage to send towels to the gym? Last and very annoying- we asked to leave our bags at the hotel after checking out- for an hour- and the lady said ok. We came back to find that they uploaded our bags to the car - that stood in hotel parking-in the sun!!! my whole makeup melted!!! how annoying is that? If you cannot keep it in a room tell us- or park the car in the shade- but don't just put all our things including makeup and medications to heat up in the car. All in all the staff was not friendly, not professional- and the hotel does not have standards to say he is 5 stars. Its better to take 3 star hotel with 5 star service, than pay for 5 star hotel and get 3 star service. plenty of good hotels in Perth no need to choose this one.
Staying 4 nights - got the upper floor suites as we wanted more space. Room is very clean (newly renovated), spacious. The decor is blue colour which for me is a bit dark. My Uber picky hubby was happy with the room. On things they can change: Parking is an absolute nightmare. Hotel has some special rate w a Wilson car park nearby, but there’s actually 2 Wilson car parks nearby. If u get the wrong car park like we did (first time to Perth and jet lagged) will be charged high amount. Wasted a lot of time and stress figuring out why the ticket wouldn’t work. Hotel could’ve provided a map to the car park to avoid this. The much promoted handy phone which is meant to give u phone and WiFi access outside the room doesn’t work. We took it to the city, and got totally lost cus there was no connection. Wasted half a day and again lots of stress during a holiday. If i knew it wouldn’t work I would’ve arranged my own overseas roaming/ portable WiFi instead.
The rooftop bar at The Melbourne Hotel was the perfect wedding venue, ample space for a beautiful ceremony outside before going into the gorgeous lounge bar ....... very James Bond! Excellent catering and service too! As a guest I can highly recommend this venue and the accommodation, rooms are beautifully appointed - the only thing that I could suggest in the contemporary room is a full length mirror inside the wardrobe door. I loved the drip filter coffee bags too!
Cannot say enough nice things about the staff. We used this hotel as home base while in Western Australia, coming back for a second and third stay. The staff remembered us ( not sure that is always a good thing😉) and gave us room upgrades. Continental breakfast was simple and delicious.
This is a beautiful hotel with modern accents in the perfect downtown location. The staff was very helpful and breakfast was delicious!! Rooms were well appointed and bed was extremely comfortable. Highly recommended.
Such a nice place to go about where old and new buildings integrate nicely together. We manage to order their set lunch set for 2 and is delicious and value for money in stars rated hotel. We will be happy to visit them again if we re in Perth again
Amazing feeling on arrival - the building is stunning. Our room was lovely but I would definitely go for a more expensive one at the back - ours was a little noisy. Great TV options - beautiful L'Occitane toiletries. We enjoyed beautifully cooked lobster in the Chinese Restaurant - it was very relaxing apart from loud music coming from the bar next door drowning out the relaxing music. The Winelist was a little disappointing - after a week in Margaret River we were wanting more beautiful WA wine. The breakfast was disappointing - they really need to use good quality coffee beans - there was no coffee smell and ours was terrible. Overcooked poached eggs not nice. We enjoyed some drinks in the rooftop bar. The position is fantastic - Avis car return right next door and lots of restaurants, shops ect.!!
