We spent 3 nights at this hotel after moving from the Sheraton Four Points. Being a city girl, I love this hotel. It has a very good location to shopping and eateries that are open late into the night. However, it is not near any UNESCO heritage sites. It does not have a beach front either. The rooms in this hotel are clean, spacious and the lobby is vastly spacious with high ceilings. There is ample parking in this hotel and access to the carpark is via a separate lift or elevator. The bar in the room is free. It will be topped up daily and my two teens had a field day drinking soft drinks, helping themselves to Milo Chocolate beverage and Kit Kat & M&Ms. Since the hotel is so near shopping malls, it is so easy to just go shopping, have your nails and hair done then pop back into the hotel to drop off your parcels and bags before heading to another mall flanking both sides of the hotel. Should you decide not to dine at the hotel, you will be spoilt for choice at the wide range of eateries in the vicinity ranging from the affordable cheap eats (at Gurney Hawker centre, 6 minute walk away) or at Gurney Plaza or Gurney Paragon just next door. The hotel has a modest pool where you can hold a little wedding ceremony or exchange of vows. They would be happy to accommodate your request. There is also an excellent bar within the hotel should you choose to stay indoors for a drink and not venture out should you find Penang's weather humid and hot. If dining in the hotel, I'd recommend Miraku Japanese Restaurant. It's the best Japanese food in Penang although it comes at a higher price. It's definitely worth the price. In the evening, join the hustle and bustle of the city by having a drink at the Open Air Bar behind the hotel between Gurney Plaza and G Hotel. People watch, talk loudly and laugh as hard there; no one will care. Every Friday, the hotel serves a BBQ spread with a 50% off for in-house guests. We left the hotel at 5.45am to head to the airport and the hotel arranged for a taxi service. It is a one way fee of 70 MYR to the airport inclusive of tips.

Room was clean refurbished and extremely spacious, mine was roomy enough to do cartwheels, with windows that have angled view of the Gurney Drive shoreline. Ask for room ending 05. Free minibar with choice of soft drinks. Gurney Plaza is next to Hotel. Paragon is 3 minute walk in opposite direction. Both have Thai Odysea Spa, clean, professional and reasonably priced Thai body and foot massage. Gurney Hawkers is 5 minute walk from lobby. Food is OK but not the best of Penang street food. We skipped hotel buffet breakfast and cabbed to Penang Road area coffeeshops for local breakfast. Chee Cheong Fun at the Mcalister Lane coffeeshop is a must-try and the banana leaf otak and char kway teow are super too. You can negotiate with cab uncle to wait for you to eat and return to Hotel, at about RM$40 per hour. They can tell you the best eats and cab uncle drove us around the Georgetown area to show us street art and the Blue Mansion.

G Hotel Gurney is definitely great hotel in Penang, I stayed there for a couple of days. Room is big and clean. The best is that you could go to night market on the left side (10min walk) or nice shopping mall to the left in less than 30s. The mall is definitely the most popular one in Penang with plenty of shops, restaurant (food court, small restaurant). You may find bar outside the hotel, grab a drink at night. One thing to note is that breakfast must be taken in the hotel since the starbuck next to hotel is not open till 11am. Cafe inside the hotel is the only breakfast place. Ask for a room with coast view! Wonderful sunset view and you feel relaxed!

This was my first stay in the hotel and I pretty much loved it! Up on my check in i was nicely escorted to the lounge and served with a lovely ice cream😋 The lounge was great, good selection of food for us and with great views over the sea, there was an Indian trainee Shob who was very interactive with us. I had a coke in the lounge and the next day when i came he brought me coke just when i was thirsty and needed it! His service really pleased me and I could see his efforts while he was cleaning all the tables with a happy face. The lobby of the hotel was so appealing and ravishing! Our room was very spacious with a comfortable bed and environment. I used the gym and it was lovely having sea view at my morning run 🏃 We ate at Miraku and the food there was really very tasty but quite busy. We had drinks at the Tree Bar which is a nice setting in the evening. The location of the hotel is great just next to a mall and local street food centre! I enjoyed my stay and the next I'm in town I'll definitely be booking again!

Second time back to this hotel, looking forward for better and unforgettable experience; however this round a bit disappointed. Main point to stay in this hotel is; 1) take the buffet lunch in g hotel then; 2) check in room; 3) enjoy the swimming pool; 4)having dinner and shopping at gurney plaza. As a traveler, the first thing that I always do during check in is ask for “free upgrade” (I told them that actually g hotel is one of our company corporate hotel which can use the corporate price and which I didn’t do so), They just reply me without any smiling face that “you can get your upgrade by just pay extra”. Then just in front of me that other girl receptions talk about other customers that also request for free upgrade, which she also laugh and said that “pay more if you want the better room”. Wow, I actually thought that I booked a one star hotel😡. Very nice that they prepare ice cream for my kids, but I told the them that I having buffet in the cafe now so just keep this for later. Since I told them that I taking the buffet lunch, they should actually tell me that I can ask for 50% discount for in house guest (which I paid full amount and only found out inside the room that they have this type of offer) Go to the room which surprised me that “where is the bathtub gone?” After check and asking around then only know that they have 2 type of room which need to request for it, but this option should bring out during check in. ON the Tv , no screen so just call the room service, take for 3 hour also never attend. Call for second time then only quickly come over. There also some problem for their employees that not understand English (from Myanmar or Nepal) ask for extra pillow and blanket but only send blanket. Overall this hotel room is clean and spacious, good location. But really hope to see their improvements on service customers- hotel with four stars should serve with four star.

It was my return to the Hotel after 8 long years. I must admit that the location was good, staff was helpful and the Executive Suites I booked was really nice. Though there was some technical hip cups with one of the suites throughout my 4 days stay there, but the rest of the good things on this Hotel made up for the shortfalls. We simply loved how convenient the Hotel was situated at and also the spaciousness of the suites which we had booked. Special mention and credit to Ms JoeAnn from the Executive Lounge. She had been extremely helpful and patient with my rooms requests and enquiries upon my check in, and go beyond her service to recommend some fun places and food eateries that I shouldn't miss while in Penang with my family. She was empathetic upon hearing my feedbacks and understand the importance of understanding and attending to the needs of the guests. On the day of my check out, I did received a waiver of RM150/- for a top up charge which I had paid earlier from the Manager and the team after the many hip cups with the key card and water heater problems I had with one of the suites. JoeAnn was a outstanding service gem in the Hotel and I hope she gets the recognition she deserved from the Hotel.

The best aspect of this hotel is the focus on guest satisfaction and ensuring a positive experience. It is surrounded by two large malls which makes shopping convenient. The rooms are very clean, the cleaning staff is excellent and prompt. I stayed there for 6 weeks on business and enjoyed the facilities, staff, and ambience.

I love this hotel especially with the room size and the location next to the mall, beach (no sand) and hawker center. This is my first destination if I need to stay in Penang. The breakfast is fabulous. The variety of international and local food is very good.

Stayed 4 night in an executive room. Check in smooth and fast on the 15 floor. Cocktail is limited and food was kinda cold to enjoy. However service is top notch. Room is big but kinda empty. Located inbetween two big mall. Traveling around Penang is easy with uber/grab. A very good hotel to station your trip in Penang. Will stay here again if coming back.

I stayed here two days for business. Somehow I got the executive floor after booking on hotels.com. This maybe due to the time of year but not complaints. Two floor suite with great views of the bay. Access to executive lounge was key for breakfast and afternoon drink. Location is right next to largest mall on Penang island with shopping and great food options. Not just typical tourist fare but real local offerings if you are interested. Good gym with outdoor pool if the weather cooperates.
