Spent a night here and it was a fantastic hotel with good service including a call later to check if everything is good and also ask for wake up call Free drinks and chocolates in the mini bar Bed is very comfortable Room is very clean indeed 50inches TV with wide selection including internet channels Great view of the gurney drive Near two malls including I house mall so it is very convenient There are bars and restaurants in and around the hotel so food and nightlife is not an issue Great hotel indeed but a bit pricey for penang .. RM375 per night

G Hotel Gurney and G Hotel Kelawai, both are sister company. G Gurney sits overlooking the beach, though not that sunny sandy sparkling beach you see. Room rate is a bit over-priced looking at the facility, but services offered to guests worth them a score. Stayed at #1023, room was huge, carpet flooring (my favorite) which you can hardly find in most hotels nowadays and they are maintaining it so well. Small tips for the management that they need to brief the staffs for any offers for guest experience. We got several versions of information regarding the complimentary hours for evening cocktail. Evening cocktail is 6-8pm, and the 4-6pm is buy 1 free 1 at G Lounge. The evening cocktail was interesting by the Executive Lounge overlooking the beach on sunset and house music. Talking about security for the guest, we reckoned that the lobby area was also utilised as walk-through for people coming and going to the next door Gurney Plaza, they even used the toilet!! For a 5-star hotel, we hope this can be rectified. Once you open door for guests, you opened the door for everything to enter. Breakfast at Executive Lounge may offer less noise and better view. Choices of the breakfast are slightly different with the restaurant on the Ground floor. They only comes with different quantity. Will return on my next visit to Penang.

My family had a lovely visit to Penang, thanks in no small part to our stay at the G Hotel Gurney. The rooms are substantial, with lovely views. The service was impeccable and the hotel's location next to a mall and local eating area Gurney Drive made it quite perfect.

t's the little touches Bottle of water next to bed Complimentary bottles of water Service the room twice a day Good quality shampoo/conditioner Great location Supermarket on your doorstep Great gym Amazing infinity pool Great people Amazing room Pillow menu Great shower water pressure Right next to the bus stop for the hop on hop off tourist bus Seriously look no further too hotel I am a medical rep so stay in many many hotels and this one is fantastic; I highly recommend it, I can not fault it and if anyone does they have problems and I am a harsh critic However, pool bar was terrible, terrible service, terrible food, really unhealthy food and didn't even carry one brand of cider. The person couldn't even speak English very well. .

We stayed for two nites in G Gurney Hotel in Penang. Since my mother is using a wheelchair so we got the disable room. The room is spacious and very convenient and has a nice view to the sea. Love the welcome ice cream. It is something different from the usual welcome drink. The big open space lobby gives you a warm welcome. Me and my mother enjoy staying here. Thank you.

Location: was great as it was right beside just a 10-meter walk from Gurney Plaza which has 7 floors of shopping and entertainment, and 7-minute walk from Gurney Paragon, the newer mall with a more updated variety of shops. Would be great if they can create a covered walkway between Gurney Plaza and the hotel for those rainy days which we were caught in. Rooms: were modern, simple and comfortable, albeit a little plain. Appreciated the kitchen facilities in the Executive Rooms. Noticed that the 17th floor executive room has a washing machine but not the one on the 15th floor. Perhaps worth noting only for those who stay longer and wish to do their own laundry. View/Architecture: We booked 2 executive suites but upon realizing that each executive suite can be conjoint to an executive room, we actually forfeited one executive suite as we wanted conjoint rooms for our family. We thought this downgrade (with no refund, no less) would at least get us a better room/view but it didn't. We got the suite+room 1714 which was a long way round the back (due to the hotel being built as a U-shape facing the mall) which only had the view of the condominium at the back. Sorry but, it's not wise and fair planning to have your guests paying same price for executive suites but differ so much in terms of: (a) no view whatsoever for the suite at the back and (b) we had to walk the hallway of the entire U because the only set of guest elevators were situated on the other end of the U. Check-in: It was less than desirable because (a) it was really slow, probably because it was a peak holiday weekend but hey (b) isn't the point of a separate check-in counter for Executive meant to expedite check-ins for guests of Executive? (c) Why were the rest of the family told to wait at the 1st floor lobby for half an hour when we realized the Executive lounge was right beside the Executive check-in counter? When we came at 12noon, the check-in staff promised to get us the suite+room with sea view, but alas, after waiting patiently for 3 long hours, we still didn't get the promised 1503 suite+room with the sea view, probably because the guests checked out late as we bumped into them at the lift lobby leaving at 330pm... My question was - was anything done to ensure we could have gotten the promised suite+room with sea view? Finally, they didn't offer us the birthday cake that we requested as our child's birthday fell within the same week of our stay. Perhaps they forgot about us. Just like how they forgot about promise for our room. Would have given it a full 5-star if not for the messed up check-in that was meant to be much, much better i.e. Executive check-in for a 5-star hotel...

Great Hotel very helpful staff. Great location and would recommend to any traveller. Big shower in the room, lots of TV channels. Very close to the Hawker market near the beach so lots of food nearby. Did not try the Hotel breakfast because so much food outside but I am sure it would be good. The free WiFi in the room is very fast

Was very favorably impressed on my stay there for four days. Was on the executive floor in an executive suite. The room was well done and nicely laid out. The room price included breakfast either in the executive lounge (very nice buffet) or the Taste Cafe (very very nice buffet). I tried both locations and can't go wrong either way. In the evening the executive lounge had a nice set up for appetizers and beverages. The view overlooking the water and back to hills was a pleasant sight to see and relax. All of the staff were friendly and efficient. The hotel is next to a large mall with a large number of stores and good places to eat. There is a currency exchange in the mall. Between the hotel and the mall is a number of outdoor spots (ie starbucks, coffee bean, couple of bars, fast casual restaurants). They also have a nice pool. I highly recommend this for your travel to Georgetown.

Stayed at the G Hotel Gurney from 9 April to 12 April 2017. Not my first stay but returned because of good experiences on my past visits. Let me say right off that it was as great a stay as I had experienced in the past. Firstly, the location can't be beaten. Right on Gurney Drive with a great view of the sea (if you get a room with a sea view) when the tide is in. It is also next to two nice malls, Gurney Plaza and Gurney Paragon with good shopping and food choices. An uber or taxi ride to town is just minutes away and costs about RM10 to RM15 depending on where you go. The standard superior room that we stayed in came with a free mini bar (no alcohol, though) and was clean and well maintained each day. The air-conditioning was a bit colder than my Wife preferred but you would enjoy it coming off the heat of the day. Did not use the other amenities due to our short stay although the pool looked very inviting from the lift lobby. Would definitely stay again. Parking in the basement is free when you validate your entry ticket at the reception before leaving the car park. Note: The seafront is being reclaimed and though it will take some years to complete, the beautiful view could become a thing of the past.

Booked for Executive Room, and requested to upgrade to L Suite, the check-in progress done at 15th Floor - Executive Lounge. The staff who leading us to upstairs and the staff on duty at Executive Lounge are helpful and friendly. I asked so many questions all are entertained with staffs' polite and patient attitude. Location is great, the room is comfortable, overall is ok. Just one thing, we checked out the room earlier about 10am, after lunch at Gurney Plaza we went back to the hotel lobby took the seat and rest. My mum was not feeling well that time, so fall asleep, sure the sofa prepared are comfortable. Got one staff approached us and said cannot sleep at the lobby. But the attitude is not rude, he's asking politely and also got asked was my mother not feeling well. We didn't explain too much, but just wondering I never heard about cannot sleep at lobby. Other than that, this is an excellent hotel, the breakfast also great. Worth of money.
