Accommodation looking a care worn. For example the bathroom grouting had a lot of yellow stains, and the floor grouting which should have been grey was black in places. One bedroom light fitting was quite bent. Needs refurbishment, but in the meantime a good clean would work wonders.
This was just an overnight stop on the way south after coming through the tunnel. The hotel is in a good location and there is a fuel station on the way back to rejoining the motorway. Food and service was, as always, very good value. The downside is that the rooms are looking old and in need of an update.
Stayed here before a few years ago. The quality has stayed the same. Excellent value for budget hotel and excellent salad bar. Professional and polite staff. Easy checking in and out process. Beds clean and comfortable. Everything you need for an overnight stay but don't expect 5 star luxury. I would stay here every time I come to Calais. \the staff speak good English but still maintain their French character and culture which I think is good.
Well the rooms are a bit dated, but they are clean and functional. For the moaners, if you want perfect then go the Ritz. The facilities and rooms here are quite acceptable for the price. The restaurant has a chef that clearly loves his work. Good quality food (small menu) of freshly prepared and cooked meals at bargain prices Double glazing keeps the rooms quiet
Having taken a late shuttle this was a great place to lay our heads, just 10 minutes from arriving in France. Warm welcome at the reception and swift check in. Our ground floor room was clean, the beds comfortable and lashings of hot water in the tidy bathroom. Difficult to ask for more at a bargain price. I don't suppose that you would want a prolonged stay here, but for one or two nights more than sufficient.
Have used this location for vacation for many years, and although the staff are very friendly and courteous, the building and rooms are looking tired and in need of a complete refurbishment. The buffet in the evening was good and adequate but the buffet breakfast was less appetising. A little bit of imagination is required.
Stayed at this hotel as a stop over on route to South of France. Staff were very friendly on arrival. Room was very clean and fitted the need , A shower, bed and Tv and secure parking. The food at the restaurant was very good and not to bad priced . 5 minutes from the euro tunnel so very handy. Highly recommend
We regularly stop in Campanile in both the UK and Europe. They are usually very reasonable priced and have everything you need for an overnight stop. In fact, we stopped in this same one over 20 years ago! Unfortunately, the particular hotel is showing its age. The concrete staircase had puddles on the steps which could be quite awkward for elderly/very young visitors. The windows/doors on the outside of the property all had very badly peeling woodstain coming off them. Inside, the room was fairly clean, the bedding was very clean and looked fresh. The TV stand was broken with the TV staring at the floor. The "tea and coffee facilities" consisted of 2 sachets of coffee and one tea bag. Window blinds were of the external, wind up/down type. I know some do not like these, but I think they make for an excellent nights sleep as they totally black out the room. The net curtain was very dirty and looked like it only gets washed a few times a year, if that. The car park was secure, with an access code to enter at night. A great idea. The majority of cars parked when we left in the morning were British shoppers, so a secure car park is a bonus if leaving wine etc in the car over night. Location was easy to find and pretty handy for the town centre and local attractions. We didnt eat in the restaurant, but it looked busy when we came back from dinner in the town centre. I have always believed you get what you pay for in accommodation. With this in mind, I think Campanile are usually towards the top end of what you would expect. However, this hotel is towards the bottom of the scale. With some money spent on maintenance and a bit more quality control on the cleaning side, it would be right up there again. To be honest, we would only stay there again if we couldn't get in anywhere else.
We stay in the same chain hotel, in Reims (which was gorgeous!) This was not, very dated and basic, wooden window and sideboard, did have a kettle though! Food in restaurant was ok, but very slow service. Wouldn't rush back!
After a disappointing meal in the UK the night before we found the demi-pension option excellent value for money. But in particular the standard of cuisine. It's pretty much the same throughout the chain but brilliant nonetheless. The chef takes personal pride in his work and often appears from the kitchen to check the buffet which is unbelievable by UK standards.
